it was an amazing dinning experience the staff made the visit brilliant.
It was a great experience lovely surroundings.and the staff remembered my wife's birthday.so couldn't fault anything.thanks lee
Great night, thanks!
I made the reservation via open table and was all set and looking forward to the weekend but the next morning I took a call from the Ivy, enquiring about my reservation and asking if I really wanted to book the Counter Bar.
I'd intended that the booking was a romantic table for two to celebrate my wifes birthday, so praise indeed to the staff for taking the time to ensure our booking was corrected.
The evening from start to finish was perfection, the reception, the service, the cocktails, the food, the wine, the toilets and above all the Staff. A lot of "the's" but recalling the evening did that!!
Great food, service and ambiance
My daughter and I went to The Ivy for dinner before seeing "Dear Evan Hanson" and we had a terrific time. We sat at the counter so got special attention from the bartenders who also served us. We shared a burrata with smoked beetroot which was wonderful. She had the excellent liver and I had the Iberico pork cutlet--both great. It's a beautiful place with a lovely muted buzz and the food is delicious. We will be back.
Not been to the Ivy for over 20yrs. Great to go back. Did not disappoint.
Greeted warmly and taken straight to the bar where we were seated. Exactly as I had planned. Loved the intimate, nostalgic setting complimented by young, enthusiastic staff. The food was perfectly lovely but not outstanding, I would have liked more lobster in my lobster spaghetti. Nevertheless, a great experience overall.
Great food, lovely atmosphere
We managed to get a table but counter would have been ok.
Service was pretty good, and there was no waste , the pudding could of had crushed Eton mess on the strawberry sundae!
Went for my birthday food was lovely I had the lemon meringue pie with a twist it was amazing, cocktails lovely and the service was top class ,will be going back when I'm in London again ,I will be going to the one in brimingham
Friendly staff in a beautiful setting with delicious food too. I couldn’t fault any of our visit 10/10
Very nice food and great service but very expensive on the drink side. Worth going just to have food there
Great pre-theatre location and terrific environment, especially at the bar. Drinks were very good, food was good if unspectacular, and we warmed up to the bartender/server, who seemed a bit standoff-ish at first but ‘engaged’ more as our meal went on. A very good pre-show choice in the theatre district, and a great old-fashioned vibe.
So bad. Has to leave because the reservation was at the counter instead of a table for two as written on Opentable reservation !!! 😡😡😡
A shame !!!
If I could leave this a minus rating I would. I have never had such a bad dining experience in my 13 years in London.
We arrived at 11:55am for our midday booking to find the doors still locked. When I called to ask if they were open I was told to stand outside. After I explained I had my 81 year old grandmother with me who isn’t very good on her feet and would they mind if she sat down they told us to stand outside and wait in the cold in the rudest manner.
Eventually we went inside and it was downhill from there. for starters we ordered Bang Bang Chicken and a prawn cocktail. The chicken was cold which was disappointing and the prawn cocktail was more lettuce than anything. For main course We ordered roast cod with parsley mash as it is listed on the menu. It say nothing of shellfish at all and when it arrived it had mussels and clams which my grandmother really dislikes. I ate mine as it was and quite honestly it was so salty and cold that I didn’t finish it. The waiter noticed I hadn’t finished it and apologised at the end of my meal.
The service had been slow and terrible throughout so we decided against dessert as we preferred to go somewhere else.
It was Christmas Eve and not one member of staff made the lunch feel festive or even enjoyable. We wished them merry Christmas but got no response.
The neighbouring two tables had issues with their food and set it back (one was cold and one had soggy batter on their fish and chips) so we were not alone
Then the worst thing after such an awful meal was for the bill to arrive and be charged a cover charge on top of the service charge also on the bill. The days of cover charge are gone as London is not short of excellent eating and drinking establishments.
I will never return to the Ivy and will strongly suggest it is avoided at all costs. So disappointing but without doubt my worst dining experience.
Daughters birthday and new job celebration
Good food, attentive service, pleasant ambience. Fortunately not ejected when our two hours was up.
As usual the Ivy never disappoints. Great service, great food and atmosphere. Sat at the counter and it was very lively. Love this place.
a very good and nice restauarant with excellent food and service . To be advised after a theatre . The service was what it should be
Food was delicious although service could have been better- staff at the reception is rather rude!
I love the Dining Counter. Request stools at the end of the bar, facing the door if you can.
First visit and on a Saturday evening (so busy as expected) but we were quickly seated at the counter. Despite booking four weeks previously with OpenTable I wasn’t able to get a table...
Friendly bar staff were busy but quick and clearly keeping in touch with all the diners.
Tasty food - crab salad and bang bang chicken starters and cottage pie and liver and bacon as main courses. Well judged quantities, well presented and not too ‘over engineered’.
Interesting wine selection and range of prices (!) and good ‘by the glass’ selection.
Definitely looking forward to another visit.
All roubd great experience. Food was exfellent as was the service
Good food, good service - would thoroughly recommend it as a good night with friends.
We had a nice lunch, apart from the salad size, which they could improve!
It was taken of the bill, but that’s not the point...
I had heard about The Ivy over the years but always thought it was too expensive or too snooty for the likes of me. How wrong I was! We decided to give it a try before going to the theatre and were immediately put at ease by the lovely staff. The food was out of this world--in fact, it made me realise just how second rate many of the restaurants are that I have been to lately. I had the leek and potato soup with truffle and a poached quail's egg--delicious. Then I had the best pork belly I've ever had--it just melted in my mouth. Wonderful. A terrific and unusual wine, and the creme brûlée dessert was outstanding. What can I say? We will definitely be back. And regarding the cost, well it wasn't cheap but it cost the same as the dinner we had at a second rate wine bar last week, so there is no comparison. Well done, The Ivy! You'll see us again!
Some us time... with my wife
Great service great food. Great overall. Definitely worth going
Food was great. The service at the counter was slow and inattentive. We kept having to ask for our wine and service. Such a shame as our past experiences have been great
$70 pound lunch for just myself. Food was disgusting. Disappointed because I’ve been looking forward to going for awhile
Excellent food and service
Firstly, I really wanted to enjoy this dinner. The restaurant itself is wonderful. The food was just not good enough, including the presentation, which was not good for the hype of this restaurant. I would have a hard time going back.
Excellent food, cocktails and service. Ideally located in theatre land.
I took my boyfriend for his 30th birthday and had a brilliant experience. Delicious and well sized portions with really attentive service and a beautiful venue.
Great lunch friends meeting up
Being sat at the bar was ok, the barmen were great, friendly and good service. Food was lovely as usual.
Did not enjoy my chair getting bashed into every time somebody walked past, and hearing the wait staffs chatter behind us over our own conversation.
I’ve been before and always been seated at a table and loved it, was a shame on my anniversary this wasn’t the case as soured the evening slightly for me.
The food was very good, the dishes were not very large, but you can be satisfied with a first and a main course assuming you also eat their excellent bread.
Very good service.
