Treat for my husbands special birthday. Welcome at door was good shown to our table. Female waiter assigned to us was not welcoming. Curt, abrubt with a real attitude. Not the level of service that we were expecting. We removed the discretionary tip to be removed. Starters were both lovely( not much quantity of the squid). Shepherds pie was lovely but the lobster linguine very poor lobster was over cooked and the whole dish had no flavour. We bought it to the attention of duty manager who dealt with it well offering a replacement which we declined as I had nearly finished mine. Linguine taken off the bill. This spoilt the whole special treat for my husban. My husband also noticed black mould above the urinals and water dripping down onto the urinals. This experience has put us off The Ivy as we always think of going here as a special treat. Overall very disappointed.

Girls lunch food was delicious but unfortunately the service was lacking! We waited a long time to place our order, waiting long time for drinks. In the end we had to go to the bar to order drinks as we were ignored left to it!!

I had a delightful meal, lovely service , but it felt a bit rushed - we would have bought more food and drink if we hadn’t felt it was time for us to move on….

Great night if you want to listen to a 1960s disco without the lights. Why does the management think that loud thumping Muzak adds anything to an already noisy restaurant? Usual dead menu offering overpriced mediocre food. However my partner’s sea bass was a hit, even though it came without the prawns. Unfortunately it’s probably the best restaurant in Exeter, unless you know better?

My meal arrived and it had a hair in it. When I informed the waiter he was quick to take both our meals away, but there was no real apology. We had a bottle of Chateau du Pape and a bottle of Barolo, so we didn’t scrimp on our wine. At the end of the meal we received our bill, we also had a birthday voucher for £150 that was for my birthday. They also added a service charge, which I said I wasn’t paying due to the hair. So they went away and came back the bill was for £330, I said about the voucher again and they went away and came back with a bill for £180, I then complained and said what about an apology, then then went away and revised it to £140. It was a bit of an event but would expect an establishment like The Ivy to have their act together!

We received our starter before our drinks and our main course sat on the bar whilst our drinks order was made. This resulted in our food being Luke warm

A real disappointment . Soggy sandwiches , and cakes and scones that were obviously mass produced and not home baked . Poor quality jam and measly portion of clotted cream . Daylight robbery for the price . Our waiter was pleasant and staff in general helpful .
