The evening was excellent. The complimentary champagne on arrival was a wonderful suprise. Good food and a lovely setting.
Disappointed that the birthday we were celebrating was not greeted by a 'Happy Birthday' sparkler or piece of birthday cake - l had expected this and when booking had included this information. Unusual.
Having been to the Ivy many times this was by far the worst visit, although the food was great it took 35/40 mins for the starter to arrive and 25/30 for the mains, we got bored of waiting for the puddings.
I felt sorry for the waiter he was great however the agrressive lady manager wanted an argument about this.
The food is always good but the service is super slow and some of the upper management are snotty, it’s a shame really
Had a superb meal and as it was my birthday I was given a complimentary drink and a gift box containing sweets and chocolates. The interior is stunning and the service was impeccable. We will definitely dine here again and we are so lucky to have this restaurant in our local town.
Delicious food and cocktails. Portion size just right too 😉
Excellent service, food and atmosphere. We went for my Dad’s birthday, he’s notoriously a little hard to please when eating out but this experience definitely hit the mark for him and the rest of the family. Thank you!
Our visit was for our 46th anniversary. We were greeted pleasantly and led to our table, where we ordered drinks. The maître d'I returned with the offer of champagne to celebrate our anniversary. How lovely. my husband ordered roast salmon with parmesan chips and declared it all to be gorgeous!! I had steak, egg and ships and even though the steak was the thinnest I have ever seen, it was beautifully cooked and tender and I was full after finishing it. To finish off the evening my husband had mango sorbet and the waiter brought me a petit four with a Happy birthday (!!) chocolate - really nice touch.
Though the prices here are a little on the high side, the staff are very attentive and the food is good.
Afternoon tea sadly is not the best.
Having dined here before brunch is wonderful but the afternoon tea was lacking.
The sandwiches had been chilled in the fridge. The bread therefore was not soft and fresh.
The fillings very nice.
The cakes and scones ok. Other places are more generous with the sandwiches and cakes.
No decafinated tea available.
Service was ok. Not attentive. A bit of a wait between champagne and tea being served. Waited too long to ask for the bill.
Totally lived up to my expectations. Lovely surroundings, great service, excellent choice of delicious meals at really reasonable prices. Can’t wIt to go to the one in Manchester when it opens.
Top notch in every way and refreshingly glamorous, will be returning regularly despite living 40 miles away.
Air conditioning was too cold to begin with, but staff sorted and were excellent, food is decent, but not quite Michelin star which you would expect from the Ivy.
This is my third visit to the Ivy in Harrogate, sadly it did not live up to my previous experience. The food was delicious but slow, inattentive service seriously detracted from the visit. It was meant to be a special treat, Betty’ just up the hill was much nicer and better value
I would just like to say that we were all a little nervous as the reputation of The Ivy can be intimidating, but the lovely warm welcome that we received from the beautiful girl on reception as we walked through the door, put us at ease straight away.
Enjoyed our late lunch at the Ivy Harrogate last Saturday. Great selection of meals to suit our 4 different palates. Busy with it being a Saturday afternoon, but still got a window table. As we were all driving we had "Mock Cocktails" which was just so good. The food was delicious. We are going to go and have the pre lunch menu next time, then again for dinner. So we obviously really enjoyed it.
Had a lovely time service was a little slow but overall we thoroughly enjoyed it!
Good service good food a bit noisy due to the next table being very “lively” or liked the sound of their own voices whichjis very difficult to manage.
Overall an excellent evening.
Very good food, efficient but not rushed service. Pleasant atmosphere if tending towards being a little noisy....
Fabulous meal for our anniversary, never disappoints. Prawn and monkfish curry was superb, not to mention the apple tart flambé with cognac.
I was a bit disappointed by the Ivy. On the good side, the food was very good, well cooked and tasted great.
My biggest problem is that they have crammed too many tables in and you are in very close proximity to those on either side. There was less than a foot between the tables on either side of us. We have recently been on a cruise and shared a table for 8 and these tables were in such close proximity.
The service was at the best fair. The tables were too small to leave a wine bottle on, so the waiters brought refills to the table, but had to be prompted, when you managed to catch their attention. People were showing irritation at this.
My partner brought a coat with her but was not offered anywhere to hang it.
I would not rush back.
Pleasant atmosphere. Good menu with plenty of choice, including vegetarian and vegan options. Service could have been better - attentiveness/awareness = poor. Hopefully this is not the norm. Things did improve as the meal progressed...
we had a lovely lunch, plenty of choice, the steak tartar was exceptional, lovely waiting staff happy to help, I will be dinning there again for sure and would recommend.
Excellent service with quality well presented food.
Very enjoyable experience the restaurant has style
Excellent food and decor. Service slightly slow but restaurant was very busy. A fine line between being rushed and waiting a little too long. The row of tables for 2 a bit too close together.
Ambience and food was amazing unfortunately the waiter that served us was very unprofessional. On taking our orders he proceeded to input our orders unaware that we could hear every word he was saying - mimicing our accents/repeating everything we had requested - to one of the front of house assistant (in a red dress) just making fun of us. Not what you expect to hear in a restaurant with The Ivy’s reputation.
Good but not outstanding food - had hoped for better. Menu casual and not inspiring. Limited choice. Pretty expensive for the quality of food.
Excellent service - could not fault that.
Loved the outside area and fire.
There were 10 of us for Afternoon T. Had a lovely oval table which was perfect with gorgeous fresh flowers in the middle. We were made to feel welcome right from the start and the food was outstanding. We chose to have the “Champagne afternoon T” as it wa my birthday. The food was outstanding! We had a gluten intolerance , nut allergy and smoked salmon allergy, all were taken on board by the Ivy with no problem what’s so ever. The best afternoon T I have had .....The Ivy has blown its rivals out of the arena!! Cannot waite to return.
Fabulous experience, the staff went above and beyond with their friendly and professional service.
We went for a celebratory brunch, food was spot on, beautifully plated and delicious.
Thank you all, we will be back x
I booked a table for a birthday surprise for my partner, we got a great table near the garden area. I’ve eaten in the resturant in London and also Soho house which is part of the same chain. The staff were very attentive at the begin, but then we didn’t see them for quite some time and waited approx 30 mins for them to take our order. There were plenty of staff, but they appeared to be badly organised, as they were all rushing around like headless chickens. I thought maybe it was down to the fact it fairly new, but I still had to get someone’s attention to order. The starter was really good, but then we had to wait 30 - 40 mins for the main courses. The table next ours recieved their main course before we revived ours, they sat down 20 mins after us. My partners burger was burnt and blackened on oneside, but she was unwilling to complain. As we patently waited we looked at the time and it was 11:15pm so it had been nearly 3 hours for just two courses. So we asked for the bill and left, which was a shame as my partner was looking forward to desert. The atmosphere was lovely and my lamb was excellent, but the service was poor for this level of restaurant.
Had to wait a very long time for all 3 courses to arrive. The table next to us complained and actually got complimentary drinks. When drinks were ordered they were just forgotten about and we had to chase them up every time we ordered after 15/20 minutes waiting for them. I didn’t even eat my main meal because it took so long to come. Disappointing and not sure why there was such a wait as we were left waiting until midnight to finally finish our meals after arriving at 9.
Booked for my girlfriends birthday after eating here with work previously. We weren’t disappointed at all. The staff were friendly, attentive and professional and the food was really good too. As others have said previously I think the wine/drinks are very expensive but for a special occasion it’s worth it. A wonderful evening was had and I will happily come back again when I’m in the area.
The restaurant is impressive on arrival. The staff are friendly. We were shown to our table and given the menus. We ordered wine and refused water. We then waited an age to order our meal. No starters just an appetiser and 2 main meals. The wine arrives. The water we didn’t order arrives and is poured. We wait for the appetiser. We wait. We ask the waitress who said it’s on its way. We wait. The appetiser arrives. We start to share and enjoy it and the main meals arrive!! My partners meal is perfect; my fish dish is completely cold! We attract the waitress and my food is taken away and so is my partners. We are offered olives while we wait for fresh food. The food arrives 15 minutes later and it’s hot and delicious. The manager informs us we won’t pay for our bottle of wine in view of the problem with the food. We don’t have dessert, just coffee which again took an age to arrive. The wine was deducted from our bill and we chose not to pay the service charge either. We will visit again but not on a Saturday evening as they don’t seem able to deal efficiently with the demands of a full house. It was a special occasion for us and thought the Ivy would be a lovely celebration but it was disappointing.
Great food but service could be improved. A little more attentive would push the service rating up
Always perfect, good food, lovely ambiance and exeptional service
Nice Restaurant in a nice area. Fit for purpose which in our instance was a birthday occasion.
Always excellent from meeting at the door to paying the bill.
Smart and coutious staff, knowledgeable sommelier and great servers.
Always pleased to dine with you .
Fantastic service, amazing interiors. Lovely breakfast.
Great place. Always super professional. The price of the food and service is fair. The price of booze excessive - it will double your bill.
Good quaility food, attentive service, nice ambience.
Our favourite restaurant - although a chain always have a great experience.
Food excellent, quite a wait between courses . Staff welcoming and attentive.
Booked online and it asked if it was a special occasion and if so would we like some decorations. I said yes, if they could provide some that would be good as we were celebrating a special Birthday. 2 days before I got a call saying that decorations were not allowed and I wasn’t allowed to bring a cake topper. Thought all this was very puzzling, why offer something then say it’s not the policy? On the day the birthday guest was asked to remove her badge and birthday sash until we were sat at the table, didn’t think this was really necessary.
This didn’t spoil out experience and we had a great time however I do think this needs to be removed from the booking form
