Hidden away towards the back of the main restaurant, The Tidal Room provides the perfect solace away from the bustle of The Lanes in lively Brighton. The walls of The Tidal Room are adorned with colourful vintage prints and locally referenced artwork inspired by the heritage of The Royal Pavilion and the origin of Brighton as a fishing village. The bespoke patterned white Carrara and grey Fior di Pesco grey marble tiled flooring, eclectic mix of vintage dining chairs, and antiqued bevelled mirror panels add a touch of glamour to the room.
Myself and my Daughters had a very enjoyable brunch for one of my Daughters birthday.
We ordered a hamburger and fries it was the worst burger I have ever had, I told the waitress who kindly relayed it to the chef. We had just one burger taken off the bill. It was disappointing experience previously we had a wonderful meal
Sadly we won’t be back
Great place. Service not good from our waiter. Others had to step in. Then I realised why... because service is added to the bill so he wasn’t bothered.
Excellent surroundings and ambience, superlative service, delicious food. A thoroughly enjoyable experience . Made my friends birthday very special. The little birthday desert was a thoughtful touch.
Doesn’t feel like Brighton at all- amazing decor and even better food with surprisingly filling portions
Great food, lively environment - Great Decor - would defo go back, i’d Recommend the Lamb shoulder, really good!
I have eaten at the ivy in the lanes twice now and have thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The food is excellent as is the service. The atmosphere is very relaxed. I can’t wait to go back.
It was ok - surroundings very nice but service very poor. Waited ages to be asked if I wanted a drink and ages for anyone to take order. Lots of women floating around with white jackets and ipads but very few waiting staff
Fantastic food, service, prices, decor, staff, loved every minute of it!
Went for our anniversary and it was just gorgeous, the restaurant was beautiful, the food was soo tasty and the service was really loving and welcoming. Already recommended it to a few people and will definitely be going back again.
Great food , lovely to go with a group of friends or just for couples . Love the surroundings
Although the decor is beautiful and the staff friendly, we had to wait for our scones as the integral part of our cream tea. The portion size is too small. Not value for money when comparing to other similar restaurants.
Returning for lunch soon, we will see how it fares.
Great food in a lovely setting. Feels like a real treat without being extortionate. Service was a little slow on this occasion from our waiter and we waited a long time to order food but this was served in good time and was great.
We visited the ivy just after it opened in Brighton and then food was excellent however we were disappointed by the service. We thought it would be opening week nerves.
We just had a Sunday lunch and the Welcome and starter were excellent as was the main course. The jou with the flat iron chicken was immaculate.
Everything was going good well with the service until the desert. First we had to wait for 15 minutes to be asked and then we endured a 30 minute wait and this was for 4 mini chocolate caramels and a pice of coffee cake.
Our waitress who took over our service half way through our meal was very good and made it good however a 2 and a half hour sitting for a 3 course meal is not what people expect from a fine dining restaurant.
We'll be going back again for sure but come on Ivy staff, get your game together.
Oustanding service and the food was stunning. A must when in Brighton!
Sadly very disappointed went with a friend for breakfast who was really looking forward to it she had been in the catering trade for over 20 years so we ordered breakfast breakfast consisted of two undercooked sausages actually pink in the middle bacon that was undercooked toast that was cold half of tomatoes it was cooked half of the tomato that was actually cold not cooked at all The ambience service was excellent The decor was first class but such a shame that the chef can't cook an English breakfast
Always a lovely experience! It always feels like an occasion even when just dropping in for breakfast. Hard to believe this is a chain.
We have a fantastic meal here on Saturday evening with our friends. The service was amazing, our waiter was friendly and happily met our every need.
The food was excellent, cocktails were fabulous and the restaurant itself was stunning!
Thank you for an enjoyable evening, we will be back!
Absolutely loved it!!
Tables set out really well.
Food was very well presented and served.
Bar area a great place to sit before your meal and take in the surroundings.
Being from Brighton, I remember when the building was the post office, dark and dingy, it is an amazing transformation and well worth the visit.
Loved our wonderful evening at the Ivy to celebrate a special birthday. Food was amazing, beautifully presented and as you would expect, first class ingredients, staff were attentive and friendly and it was just an amazing experience. We shall definitely be back. Been to the Ivy London and first visit to Brighton, was just as I hoped!
Service and food: FANTASTIC.
Out of 10? 1,000.
Decor and ambiance was fabulous.
Will come again.
Food excellent but drinks and wine very expensive , would definitely go again but not have the alcohol
Fantastic all round it’s my second visit and already wanna book my 3rd
Service very slow for table of two food really dry
AMAZINGGG!!! Can’t recommend you enough!! Brilliant on every level
First time going to The Ivy. I did wonder what the excitement was all about and I can see why! Food was incredible and the restaurant is beautiful will be back for more
This is the third time I have visited The Ivy in the Lanes and each time I have become less and less impressed.
Although I fabulous venue, the food and service are lacking.
I have decided that if I return, it will not be to dine, but for a drink at the gorgeous central bar, to soak up the ambience before heading off elsewhere for food.
The ambience & decor really make The Ivy worth a visit and the service was excellent and delivered with personality.
The food was pretty mid-range overall, which was disappointing. The best being a vegan curry with lots of lovely looking sides. The special was disappointing and not worth the £20 price tag. I’d recommend a visit as the whole experience is good and worth doing at least once!
A little bit style over substance. I ordered a Seville orange gin and tonic off the cocktail menu but without all the extras and I was still charged £8+. I asked if it could go in a balloon type glass and was told they didn’t have any even though lots of people ask for them. Obviously the Ivy knows better than their clients. Beautiful loos though.
The food and service was spot on, faultless. Nice laid back atmosphere with efficient unobtrusive service. Lovely bar and restaurant area . One minor thing is the menu changes very little so would not want to go there too often, reassuring quality though with comfort classics like Shepard’s pie.
We love these new Ivy's and have frequent the new Liverpool Street venue. However firstly our table was not ready which was not a problem as we sat at bar and waited, but after 25 minutes I went to see the staff at the desk and was told 'you wish to sit down now' so it seems they forgot about us. This was now 21.40. We knew what we wanted from the menu so after 15 minutes we ordered both drinks and food. By this time we were really hungry. The table next door to us had sat down at 9pm and their first course arrived at 10!!! Another table with a couple of children, the kids fell asleep. However the decor, food and ambience was great just the food service very slow.
My girlfriend and I came to the Ivy to celebrate her birthday. The food was amazing, the cocktails were unbelievable and the service was faultless! Will definitely be returning to the Ivy again.
This was our first visit to the ivy for dinner, and it didn’t disapoint, we had been for both breakfast and lunch prior to this, I would recommend it and will definitely be going back.
Excellent although waited ages (40mins) for main course to arrive....
Food was good as always but service was sketchy again. Waiter didn’t seam comfortable setting the table.
Took our bread away before we had finished. As we had one guest running late we were saving it for him. I asked for it back but they brought a new one. I only discovered after we l they had charged us for both breads. Not appropriate at all!
Stunning service and very attentive staff. Very friendly and great choice of meal options.
While respecting that The Ivy uses the same formula for the menus of its restaurants, I believe it’s rare to now find a restaurant in Brighton which hasn’t got carefully considered vegan menu choices and options these days . There might be some options marked with ‘vegan option’ on the Ivy in The Lanes menu, but they are offered as prawn salad without prawns or chicken curry without chicken. That’s not very creative, doesn’t sound very tasty and gives the impression the Ivy hasn’t really cared much about its menu and provide a choice for vegans. It’s really not that hard to come up with some vegan menu options.
Thank you for noting my comments. I am not vegan myself, but one of my guests was and I agreed with her arguments
We were asked to vacate our table after 1 hour and move to the bar area with the explanation ‘ these are the most popular tables’. Luckily we only had main meal and had finished!! We asked to see the manager who said, ‘you have 2 hours at your table, not one, so you can go back to your table if you want to’. No apology, nothing, we certainly won’t be going back or recommending!
Very disappointing service was appalling lots of staff standing chatting .We served our own wine and waited -15 mins for the bill Not too happy to be honest its gone downhill since opening and food was cold !! Second disappointment as we come regularly we tried to book a table for 11 people for my mums 80 th bday only to be told you dont book large tables .to be honest its your loss as we have now booked Browns for our special get together .I booked online and within 2 mins was so easy !!! The Ivy you are a bit too full of your own importance !!!!
The setting and decor was fabulous but the service was slow and we had to remind staff several times of things we had asked for. Fortunately it didn’t impact too much in our afternoon but it wasn’t the standard we had expected. The food was excellent apart from two donuts that had no filling. These were replaced when we raised it with a member of staff. The layout of tables meant we had to raise our voices at times to be heard above the noise in the area. Again, it didn’t totally spoil our afternoon but it was disappointing.
