We found it a delightful experience, loved being in the jungle. The service was excellent, as was the food. I had a very good curry and my grandson ordered the Ivy burger. He said it was the best he’d ever had. Thank you, we will come again.
Nicely decorated restaurant 10 minute walk from the beach/boardwalk, good food, large range of cocktails, great desserts. We had a terribly rude waiter who almost spoiled the experience, luckily there was other wait staff to dilute this toxic man’s attitude. Staff did nothing to apologize. Difficult to recommend based on the service
We had quite a nice but ordinary lunch, however I feel disappointed with my experience at The Ivy, would I rush back or recommend this restaurant, sadly not!
Great decor and service. Special place and much enjoyed. Thsnks!
Amazing food, wine and service in a beautiful space. We can’t wait for our next visit.
Sad to say that on my third visit I was left underwhelmed. From booking the table to the actual evening there I cant help thinking something was lacking. I was told when I called to book a table at 1pm on Sunday April 21st that the only available booking was at 6pm. I said I'd call back later to confirm if 6pm worked for some of my 5 guests. No more than five minutes later I called back and spoke with someone else to be told there were no tables available for 6 people at 6pm on April 21st. I explained that five minutes previously I was told there was. No matter. I went online and booked a table for 6 people at 6pm on April 21st via OpenTable.
At the dinner, the food was good but really nothing special and certainly not at the level the pricing suggested it would be. One of our party of 6 ordered a rare sirloin steak and it appeared but was medium to well. It was swiftly taken back and replaced. The staff are very good.
The final bill was just short of £300 and only two of us were drinking. We had two G&T's and between us three small glasses of house red. It was expensive and in my view did not represent good value for money.
The combination of a golden era 20's 30's restaurant with a fresh vibe is very nice, the food outstanding, personell very nice and kind. It has been a pleasure.
Fabulous room, excellent vibe, lovely food, wine & excellent service at an agreeable price. What's not to like?
Very tasty food served in lovely surroundings . Great for a special occasion. Will be back. The Chocolate bomb dessert is fabulous
Shrimps burger missed avocado, had to wave to get attention of the service in order to have meal served as stated in the menu. Waitress said I’m sorry and left to the kitchen. When asked for ice and lime to accompany the sparkling water, waiter brought lime in ice rather than ice and lime. When finished and asked for a check, waitress offered a free refill of espresso (recovery?). If that was filtered coffee, maybe but... It might be just a bad day but not impressed at all.
Good food, nice atmosphere but volume on music little to high & choice not suitable. Would attend again
Very nice lively buzz, great service from our French waitress, would like if there was veggie options that paired with red wines though.
Had a pleasant evening in The Ivy Brighton on Saturday night , it had been booked since January so all eight of us really looking forward to it . Unfortunately even tho starters were very nice I had to send main back as chicken really dry and my partner who ordered the steak had to send it back twice as he asked for medium rare but both times it turned up rare , so because of that I can only give it 3 stars , Both of us walked out of restaurant hungry as didn't want to order again as everyone else had eaten .
Lovely meal and excellent customer service. We had to return one main course as it wasn’t very hot. It was replaced with a fresh one and deducted from our bill.
Took my mom for an afternoon tea whilst she was visiting. She was absolutely delighted- it's a celebration of colours, lovely food and great service.
3rd time visiting the Brighton ivy and possibly the last. The place seems to have lost the buzz it had which made it enjoyably different to other restaurants in the area. Shame the standards have dropped from the gum chewing matridee poor service at the bar food coming out without table being cleared I’m afraid our hard earnt money will be spent elsewhere.
Great meal as always. Was a bit disappointed by the welcome when my booking wasn’t found ! And questioned if I had really booked when my party had just sat down 5 mins before I arrived. !!!
Really enjoyed it,eat out a lot but felt it was extra special in all areas but not over expensive. Will definitely be visiting again
It was my present to my husband on his birthday so I didn't want to complain and ruin his day. Our food was cold, my husbands sausage was under cooked, one mushroom and half a tomatoes accompanied the full breakfast. The bacon tasted good but was just a very small amount. The fried eggs were cooked well. Overall a really disappointing experience. We had tea and it was a large teapot with just 1 tea bag so very weak. The next day we shared how disappointed we were but at the time neither of us wanted to upset the other on what should have been a special breakfast. We are very unlikely to return.
An excellent dining experience. Lovely atmosphere and beautifully cooked and presented food.
Excellent restaurant, a real experience, great service, from lovely informative staff, attention to detail, decor & fab food.
If I’m paying top dollar I expect to feel welcomed. The first words uttered to myself and guests were ‘you have 2 hours then we need your table!!!’
The food was good but again slow if you require table back. Not the relaxed dining experience I expected.
Fantastic loved it
Just another average Brighton restaurant. Overpriced
Poor service. We were looking forward so much to dining there. Extremely disappointed.
It was a very special treat from my step-daughter and her husband, we enjoyed it very much and want to come again. The staff were very pleasant and attentive although noisy it didn't interfere with anything we did, I am now thinking perhaps I can treat my friend for her birthday later on as it was so special. It was
comfortable but not a lot of room in some parts, you cannot have it all and I loved it and so did my husband which was great.
I have been many times to The Ivy and always enjoyed the experience, which includes the food, staff and ambience. However, last Thursday found Afternoon Tea not up to your usual standard!
The cucumber sandwiches:- the bread was dry, it could only have happened if the bread had been left out of it's wrapper!
The amazing chocolate pot:- There was no spoons brought when the food was brought to the table, we ended up eating the pot with the teaspoons used for our tea cups!
Scones:- These were perfect, however, we had 4 scones, 2 for each person, but, there was a very small dish containing what only looked like a teaspoon of strawberry jam ( for 2 people to share on 4 scones!) there was more than enough clotted cream to share, but, again in another small dish same size as the ones for jam and cream, contained 1 strawberry cut into 3, seriously!
We both asked for Earl Grey tea, unfortunately we had to keep asking for more tea, this was promptly brought, but surely this would be something that customers should be asked about as the `tea pots although charming only hold a small amount of tea.
None of this ruined our time at The Ivy, but felt you needed to know where we felt let down on this occasion.
Want to mention that this will not stop my friends and I from coming back to The Ivy, and hope that these minor moans can be worked on!
I would highly recommend ‘The Ivy in the Lanes’ beautiful decor, great service, food and drink excellent.
The only thing that let it down was it’s housekeeping- the restrooms were not what I would have expected from this establishment.
I would like to just add we sat at our table for over 3 hrs without being asked to move so it was a wonderfully relaxed lunch.....
We were seated in the rear which is not my favourite place, but next time will be sure to request main dining area, which I have done before and had it honoured, but did not do that this time. No problem, my friend, who had not been there before, was quite happy. Everything was just lovely, service friendly and efficient, both had the monk fish and prawn korma which was excellent.
We had lunch to celebrate daughter and grandson birthday, had a lovely time.
Our attending person was very pleasant and we had a nice little candle 🎂
Hope to be back soon
Great food. Lovely friendly service
Been here several times and love the building and the general buzz. This time I felt we were rushed through everything, although there were some spare tables. Food is always good but not epic. Had the impression that we were trying to be soft-sold extras, ‘would you both like a glass of champagne?’ Etc
Great atmosphere in interestingly decorated and vibrant surroundings. Brilliant service and a special washroom definitely! Will be going back. And recommending. Thanks for asking.
A nice greeting on arrival ,good table swift service from Carmen Tempura prawns cooked perfectly and piping hot then fish cakes a cut above any other fish cakes we think The spinach was chopped to finley we thought and had little flavour no sweets only drinks ,prosecco and a craft beer + one martini cocktail ,perfect The decor is great and you are made to feel it is a special night .Thank you Brian & Jennifer Germain
Slow to get a first drink and disappointed to be told ' no fish and chips on the menu'. Otherwise an enjoyable evening
We were a table of 4 for my daughter's 15th birthday. From the moment we walked it we were treated very well, attentive but not intrusive service and delicious food. It was very fairly priced and we will definitely be going back soon.
Always enjoy taking friends and relatives to The Ivy. It is the most unusual and interesting place.
Food was excellent. My salmon was cooked as perfection. My friends had chicken and they said it was great. The chips are amazing.
The service was good in the beginning then slows down. Took nearly 10 minutes to someone to see I was asking for the bill.
The food was good and well presented apart from the disappointing strawberry sundaes which had very very little strawberry and rather too much ice cream.
Best place in Brighton so far. Food and service spot on. Would definitely recommend
