The Ivy in the Lanes
For a special occasion or just a treat you can’t go wrong here.. the service is professional yet personal, the food scrumptious, the cocktails to die for and overall ambience just like walking through a time portal to the Art Deco era. We will be back !
Very pleasant visit to the Ivy. Good food and service etc. However, when I booked I stated it was for a birthday and would have thought if you are asking this at booking then you would offer something complimentary.. a drink or dessert as I have heard of happening for others before, so slightly disappointed by this small attention to detail.
Lovely place and great 1st experience to the Ivy. Would definitely recommend and be returning.
This was a busy, but large restaurant with many covers. The menu choices were broad, and there is some food theatre to enjoy depending on what you order. A few touches could have been improved, for example overly soft shoestring fries, and although having a live DJ in the restaurant makes the mood somewhat interesting, it was so loud that it was obtrusive, and prevented a conversation. The food was nice generally. Overpriced.
Lovely food, well worth a visit for a treat. Unfortunately it was service that let it down for us. We were left at the bar for half an hour as our table wasn’t ready which is understandable, it happens, but the waiter that came over said “oh sorry ladies I forgot you were there”.
Our waitress was lovely but she was clearly being micromanaged and was actually fine just as she was!! Dining room is also very loud when packed, acoustics could do with some work!!
Overall good experience and we would go back, just an honest review.
Should have read the reviews first. Set my expectations at the Fine dinning standard that Brighton has to offer elsewhere and as it was our anniversary, some opportunity of quiet romance.
It is big noisy and bustling nothing wrong just not what I was expecting.
Fine dinning? No! It is good food and reasonably priced but not fine dinning. Think more Cote than 64 degrees or Saltrooms.
The whole experience was wonderful. The food was outstanding and ambience lovely.
We came here to celebrate a Birthday. The staff were very attentive and friendly. The food was cooked fresh to order so we had to wait a while for our food. The drinks were rather expensive almost £10 per glass. Nothing was too much trouble for our French waitress Marie. The restaurant bought out a mini cheesecake with a chocolate plaque that said ‘Happy Birthday’ On it which was a lovely touch. We didn’t feel rushed to eat and leave in fact we were the last ones to leave! Thank you The Ivy for a memorable Birthday for my friend
Food good esp the Chocolate Bomb, very good service and friendly staff. Cocktails were very good as well.
Very noisy and extremely close to other tables. Apart from that lovely meal and reasonably priced.
Fabulous lunch, our table was ready for us when we arrived, the service was great the whole way through our visit & the food & drinks were spot on. I would recommend lunch at The Ivy.
I have been to the Ivy in the Lanes several times now and the food is consistently good. The item I chose on the menu had been changed so I chose the Blackened Cod which was excellent. Service this last time was a little slow but we didn't mind (old friends with lots to catch up on) and the decor is as fresh and inspirational as ever. It was a Friday lunch and very busy.
This is perfectly pleasant, although being tucked in a corner at the back wasn't exactly worth the huge prices. As a vegetarian with coeliac disease (gluten free) there were NO main options. Literally none. It was suggested I get a few starter salads instead. There was also no allergen menu. To be honest, in 2019 that's no longer acceptable - to have zero options for people with allergies, Intolerances and debilitating autoimmune diseases. Frankly, as good as the service was and as pleasant as the venue - and as much as the other members of the group enjoyed it - none of us would go back for that reason.
Always a delight to visit and eat in exquisite surroundings . Everything perfectly done including service, food and company . Never disappoints
Absolutely beautiful restaurant. They catered well for my 2yr old daughter and made such a fuss of her on her 2nd birthday. She absolutely loved it as well as us.
A lovely “special occasion” restaurant. Amazing service. Really fun decor. Food pretty average but the ambience and general experience more than made up for it.
We had an lovely meal here. The service, ambiance & food were excellent & even though it was very busy nothing was too much trouble to our waitress.
Booking again soon
We had a lovely meal. Staff were very attentive. Food was beautiful and the setting was very decadent. Would definitely recommend
Had a lovely meal with a close friend. We were seated in the rear section and the tables are quite close together. The noise levels are high and it is very echoey but I am getting on now so I’m sure the majority think it is ok. Lovely staff though and food of a very high standard. Very busy.
Been there many times always enjoy it is a little bit pricey but overall a good experience
My daughter (6) and I had a wonderful lunch at the Ivy. The decor is stunning and a lovely atmosphere. The staff were wonderful, attentive but not overbearing and so lovely with my daughter. The food was superb.
We had a fabulous evening celebrating my boss’s retirement. Great atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff and the decor is just beautiful especially the toilets! The food is always very good too, I would highly recommend this restaurant.
It was very good could not fault it in anyway. Brilliant been a few times and worth going
A good selection of dishes, including vegetarian options. Delicious freshly cooked food. Bright and very lively ambience.
Food was amazing. Service excellent. Will definitely return.
Fabulous as always ❤️ Food amazing ambience brilliant can’t wait to return
Stylish decor in the usual Ivy style! Great food, lovely ambience. An excellent addition to Brighton!
Loved my lunch here this week. The flamboyant colourful decor and art is just lovely.
The food was very tasty and our waiter was very attentive.
I will defiantly be back again.
Very enjoyable. Only very minor criticism
The décor is interesting and the seats comfortable to spend a couple of hours dining. The tables are not too close together, so there is some privacy in the conversation that one is having with friends. Our food was really good, and I heartily recommend the lobster risotto starter. It was delicious. All in all it was a great experience.
Excellent service and good variety of food. Thoroughly enjoyable.
Lovely staff , atmosphere and food!
A lovely restaurant with great ambience. Love the furnishings and the female toilets were amazing!
Good food but too many fish dishes
Comfortable seating with pleasant atmosphere but very strong smell of fish when entering the restaurant.
We recently visited The Ivy for an anniversary meal. We were pleasantly surprised as we entered the restaurant at the decor, it was beautiful, the sparkly chandeliers and mirrors reflected all the colourful interesting pictures.
The service was excellent, our waiter was polite and courteous, he made us feel relaxed.
The food was superb, fresh and delicious. The chocolate bomb dessert was divine.
A great experience.
Very enjoyable evening, hope to visit again soon.
The service we received from our waitress was excellent
It took so long for someone to take our order I had to get up from my table and go to the bar to ask someone to come over so we could order brunch at 10am when there were very few people to serve.
I cannot understand such poor organisation.
Wonderful place throughly enjoyed it. My only criticism was our table for 5 was a little small so a bit cramped, food potions could have been a little bigger. However on the whole highly recommend.
The venue is beautiful, even the ladies bathroom is absolutely stunning. The service was great and the staff were very attentive and helpful. The food was great too, couldn’t argue with the price!
absolutely amazing service food and location, would recommend to anyone. get what you pay for
