The Ivy in the Lanes
A wonderful experience in the ivy for my birthday. Interesting decor and lovely seating arrangements. The food surpassed anything I have eaten recently. Gorgeous flavours, great presentation and good quality. The wine selection is varied and well chosen . A truly amazing restaurant, thank you the ivy .
We came for a quick dinner before going to the concert. Since reading some previous reviews I assumed fish or seafood dish is absolutely must. Therefore my husband ordered Monkfish curry. Presentation all superb, but Monkfish curry did not contain a single piece of monkfish just 3 prawns... we complained and staff member apologised and changed for a new dish this time with a few chunks of monkfish. Food tasted ok, presentation superb, but if you asked about value for money my answer would be poor and overpriced.
Went there for Sunday Lunch to celebrate 35 Year Wedding Anniversary. From start to finish the whole experience was superb, would definitely recommend.
Good food as always, attentive staff, loved the ladies toilets! ❤️
We have visited this Restaurant at various meal times and as usual everything was faultless. This time was for a birthday breakfast, and the food, drinks, service, table location-all perfect and we can't wait to return.
A nice surprise and a very enjoyable evening , good food and wine , service very good only complaint was the Acoustics and choice of music other than that definitely will be returning and recommending .
Excellent food and service. Very enjoyable evening.
Lovely food and great service from the staff.
Will def be going again at some point.
Not quite sure I would recommend The Ivy in the Lanes. I would mention it as the food was nice. However, I have been to The Ivy in London also, which was extremely hard to get a table. Customers go for the name not the service/food. If I went back to Brighton, I probably wouldn't visit The Ivy again, personally, I like more of a cosy ambience, more of a one off restaurant. The Ivy's are popping up like a chain. In saying that, the service was pleasant, food was ok, haven't really been raving about it! Each to their own.
Unfortunately we had table booked but it wasn’t ready when we arrived we had to wait at the bar which was fine but the staff then went over to the people who were at our table to ask the leave but said it was because we had asked for them to leave the table, which wasn’t true we were just waiting! We eventually sat down at our table 25 minutes after the booked time! Food was amazing & I would recommend to friends just unfortunate that my first experience was slightly tarnished.
Amazing venue, food, staff & cocktails!
Great atmosphere & definitely worth a visit!
Very enjoyable and a lovely setting with great food .. will return , thank you
Fantastic service and food. Waitress great and of an used a candle for my mum's birthday treat! Memorable meal will be back!
As always the service is just excellent . Attention to detail , picking up on a note of friends birthday resulted in a small cake & candle , just perfect. My only complaint was the Ladies restrooms in a poor state ! Waste bins overflowing , water on the floor .
We had a wonderful afternoon at The Ivy, the food and service were outstanding, the only downside was being asked to leave as the table had been rebooked, we were unaware of this and wasn’t ready to leave at this point x
Lovely lunch, bit noisy but still enjoyable & staff just brilliant
Particularly good service and great atmosphere. Food was excellent as ever
Fabulous! Especially the service! Our waitress was absolutely wonderful
Beautiful restaurant, good service. Our kids loved the pancakes and refillable hot chocolate. Our avocado Benedict was pretty average, stale muffins. Cold coffee.
Our mains took a very long time to come out but when we mentioned this we were given a glass of champagne which went some way to making up for it.
The steak wasn’t great and a bit stringy and chewy.
The decor and ambiance was lovely though and our waiter did his best despite the late arrival of our mains which wasn’t his fault.
We had a lovely meal at the Ivy. The food was fantastic and the decor was brilliant. We had a couple of cocktails which were delicious. Overall a great experience.
Only downsides are that the tables are so close together you almost feel like you are sharing your table. Getting into your seat can be a bit challenging without putting your bottom in your neighbours dinner! The marks ups on wine were also quite impressive but it was nice to treat ourselves.
This restaurant never fails to live up to a high standard. The cocktal bar not only looks fantastic but so are the cocktails they serve. This is our favourite restaurant even though it means a 30 mile round trip.
This is the first time in a long long time my father has said "well this is a really good day out this is what I call a day out "... & the only reason I haven't given it 5 Stars is because we spent an awfully long time with our dessert empty plates on the table even though rum, coffee and tea pots had arrived dessert plates and bowls and cutlery were not removed - which seemed a strange oversight on an otherwise perfect lunch.
Everything was adequate but at this level of pricing and let's face it hype ,it's not good enough. We waited for nearly 40minutes for our food with no apology forthcoming.
The Ivy is just what Brighton needs for good dining. Lovely atmosphere and staff most welcoming and delightful. Most enjoyable.
We have been to the Ivy a few times now and it never disappoints! Our visit this time was for breakfast and it was nice to be in the Ivy when it is quieter. The breakfast was delightful and very well presented. Staff are always helpful and friendly. We definitely recommend to friends and family.
The Ivy has a vegan & vegetarian menu but has very limited options. They only had one curry that was vegan and were unable to adapt any other dishes. A lot of the dishes are pre-made meaning that they can not make them to cater for vegans. Very disaapointing that there chefs are unable to make dishes up as needed
I thought the restaurant queue average actually. The food was alright but no better than you would get in a chain restaurant.
A beautiful setting accompanied by excellent service and delicious food. Would highly recommend.
The décor and overall appearance of the main restaurant was stunning. We were shown to our table but I did request a different one as it was right in the main thoroughfare, we were then invited to choose our table which was great and we moved to a different one near a corner and at the side. There was plenty of choice on the menu and our four meals were all delicious and our desserts amazing - chocolate bombes. Service was good, discreet but attentive. Will definitely return.
Yes, but it would have to be for special occasion only
I have already recommended The Ivy to family and friends. I had a lovely meal with my daughter in beautiful surroundings, and the staff were polite and attentive with a welcoming smile. A true gem in the heart of Brighton. Thank you.
Lovely setting, good service, enjoyable evening.
A little expensive and whilst food was tasty it was not the excellent standard I would expect here
Creme brulee flavour great, texture not smooth enough. Fish and chips ... fish slightly watery
What an amazing evening 6 star luxury all the way.
Fabulous time loved every minute, the service was outstanding
It was expensive BUT I always say, if you can leave a restaurant feeling 100% satisfied you can’t moan about the cost. I took a friend there as a present for her birthday and it was amazing, no fault to be had, service was impeccable, the food was amazing and the venue is authentic, well with it
I always enjoy the IVY it is a lovely place to be ,but I find your cocktails too small and very overpriced
The cocktails were beautifully made. It's rare that a group of 4 all loved dach cocktail! The staff couldn't have been any more helpful! Even offering a compliment glass of fizz as we were out for a 30th birthday. The food was absolutely gorgeous and the place itself is impeccable!
Great food and friendly professional service.
Lovely place and food but felt hurried between courses and the waiting staff cleared our table before we had all finished eating. Also would have nicer if the place had been a bit warmer, regretted putting my jacket in the cloak room
