The Ivy in the Lanes
Booked for 4 of us for a brunch to celebrate two birthdays. Food was very tasty (albeit it bit expensive), and the staff were lovely. Drinks are very overpriced but we were expecting that and it was for a special occasion so that was fine (this time). Although we were in no rush the service was very slow however. It took a long time for our food to arrive, and it took a while for us to be able to pay the bill when we wanted to leave. Would return for a leisurely special occasion.
Fortunate to have a great table which was then accompanied by excellent food and service. Great ambience with a live vibe .
Whilst my starter was good, my husband's was cold. The mains were cold and the chips were frozen chips usually seen in Wetherspoons, charged at £4. We did complain and were given a discount and free drinks. But overall very disappointing. Redeeming features are the nice bar and great decor.
Absolutely love The Ivy, the staff are welcoming and attentive and their manner was genuine. When the dishes were brought out the waiter intuitively knew who had ordered what. The food is superb and good value for the money, portions on the fixed menu matched those on the a la carte. The blacken cod was cooked to perfection. The chocolate bombe was a show stopper. I even got a birthday cake and had not pre alerted the staff to my special day. Can't wait to go back.
A brilliant way to spend a birthday. Very attentive staff. Food great portions and all so delicious. Loved the sweet potato wedges with Coconut
Beautiful restaurant. Staff amazing @ food 2 die for. Beautifully presented. Surroundings high class and good time was had by all
The Ivy is my favorite Brighton restaurant so I guess I’m a little biased but in saying this The Ivy never fails to impress myself and my guests from the very warm welcome to the attention to detail and of course the superb menu not forgetting your brilliant staff it makes the dining experience on a different level to other establishments.Welldone The Ivy for being consistently exceptional.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
One of my favourite places to dine.
The decor is lovely and the staff are attentive (but not too attentive), polite and helpful. The food is good.
The Ivy in the lanes is excellent. I have been for lunch and dinner and equally as good as its London original, if not better actually. The Children love it, good choice, excellent service, great atmosphere, worth every penny.
I treated a friend to afternoon tea, the full works. We had an enjoyable time but the sandwiches were very dry and way too chilled. It was one of those awkward situations where one doesn't like to make a fuss as it was a special occasion and it might have ruined the atmosphere. The scones were great though.
Our table was served by Amber who was amazing!! It was my daughters 18th & she made her feel like royalty, the décor was amazing. However if you have teenagers be prepared for the long wait while they take selfies in the beautiful toilets
We have visited the Ivy before for breakfast and afternoon tea. But this occasion was for my dads birthday.
Lovely welcome on arrival, taken to our table. Very friendly waiter took our drinks order & then our food order. The food on the whole was lovely but some of our party had fries with their meal and they were a real
Let down. Not crispy, small ends hardly any potato in them. Puddings were lovely, however the apple tart wasn’t up to the high standard expected of the Ivy . Soggy and nothing special.
Such a shame as we love coming to the Ivy, and it is expensive so you have high expectations which unfortunately on this occasion weren’t met.
A lunch date for myself and a girlfriend visiting from Australia. Food was delicious, service was very attentive. The noise level was bearable, but some people's voices carry more than others and in such a large room, that can echo around the tables. All in all a lovely lunch was had.
We found the starter and dessert to be good but disappointing main course, menu lacked inspiration and was very basic. It was hard what to choose on the menu and nothing stood out. The resturant has been furnished and decorated very nicely however the food let’s it down. It lacks the ‘wow’ factor which you would expect. This was our second visit and we found the menu very uninspiring. The service was excellent, just a shame that the food wasn’t. We eat out a lot and found it very average.
Excellent service, food came very quick and was delicious! Would definitely recommend and will certainly be back
On arrival we were greeted and seated very pleasantly, unfortunately that was where the good service ended. There appeared to be no system in operation as regards the waiting staff The water that was ordered with the wine had to be ordered again, a succession of different faces appeared at the table, seemingly at random and although there were a number of 'suits' wandering around, dirty tables were left in that state for some considerable time. The young ladies on the next table received their cocktails after their main course was served, the overall impression was one of loosely organised chaos. The redeeming feature was the food, the scallop first course was well cooked and presented but I felt it was a little 'mean' my wife's cod was excellent, my steak tartare likewise.
As someone who spent many years in catering management (Criterion, Café Royale, Royal Festival Hall, Henley Regatta, Farnborough Air Show amongst many) I feel there is a need for more training at all levels of service in order for your chef's excellent food to be better appreciated.
Generally very enjoyable, drinks very good food good except chips very poor, not hot not crisp.Service friendly but a couple of glitches
I was not impressed with my first visit here after seeing and hearing so much about it. We sat down at 12.30 and we didnt order drinks or mains for at least 30 minutes. We only ordered mains and it took over 1hr 15 minutes for it to come out. No apologies as to why it took so long. Alongside this, there were 2 tables next to us who sat down and had their food before we did!! By this time it was 2.15. We ordered dessert and was assured it would be only 10 minutes. 40 minutes later we still had no dessert and one of our group had to leave for another appointment and had to cancel her dessert. She only ordered ice cream and how that takes 40 minutes to scoop I dont know. The whole lunch still wasnt over by 3.40pm! 3.5hrs for 2 courses and then being slapped with a huge bill and an ask for £30 tip is not acceptable. The food was nice but the horrendous service has put us off wanting to come back. I would recommend here I'd you're happy to wait 4hrs for your meal and the inside decor is lovely but the service and waiters are terrible and were not friendly or accommodating at all. They ruined the experience.
I love the Ivy Shepherds pie! My partner thought he would have the Partidge off the specials menu. Unfortunately, he wished he had the fish & chips instead. The meat didn't fall off the bone as he reckons it should have done and there wasn't much of it - mind you that's the nature of the dish!
Love the Restuarant and we will definately be back!
The ambiance and decor is a perfect setting for fine dining. The welcome and attention we received was second to none and the food was outstanding. Would definately recommend.
A truly wonderful treat, such great service, amazing food would highly recommend
We had a very enjoyable meal at the Ivy. The staff and surroundings were excellent and the food superb although the drink was on the expensive side.
Too loud, noisy tables around us and why does a restaurant need a DJ at lunchtime? Also the waiter was too prompt to fill up everyone’s wine glasses and then offer a second bottle.
I absolutely loved my dining experience at The Ivy in Brighton. The food was amazing and my son and I could not stop mentioning how delicious it was to friends and family. It was a wonderful way to celebrate my birthday!
Perfect for a first date!
We went to celebrate our wedding anniversary and everything was perfect from the attention to details of our waitress carmen to the presentation and taste of the food.... To the little cakes with happy anniversary written on it... Just perfect
Excellent location with great surroundings. Even if the restaurant was not full, food was a bit slow to reach the table which was a shame. It did take a star out of my ratings as in a property of this calibre this is not entire acceptable. But service was friendly and the food was truly very good. I had great expectations for the rhum baba as a dessert. It was just OK and I had much better experiences in other restaurants in the past. But if in Brighton, you have to go and visit !
Fabulous birthday brunch for my husbands 50th birthday . Staff were friendly and accommodating to my young daughters requests, and the eggs Benedictine’s was delicious!
Decor amazing felt like you were where film stars should be.Toilets amazing never seen anything like it.Food lovely whole experience truly memorable.LOVE LOVE LOVE.Would highly recommend everyone GO GO GO.
Took my boyfriend for his Birthday, loved it food was Amazing. Loved the bar and our waitress was lovely. Not within my normal price range but for special occasion its fab
Nice meal, nothing great but filled a hungry hole. Quite an expensive bill but lovely atmosphere, just very average food!
Great service, lovely restaurant the seating is not the best for people with bad backs as it is settee style, but there are cushions to help support your back. The ice cream sundae was delicious. Very nice dining experience.
had a wonderful meal, waiter excellent, decor, brilliant, would highly recommend
Absolutely fantastic!! Incredible value for money and a real treat for brunch on our anniversary. Great service and hugely warm and welcoming staff. Thanks.
This place is amazing. The decor is Art Deco , beautifully done. The glass just gleams. Ladies make sure that you visit the WCs . Very different!
We had breakfast there , the full English was very good as were the buttermilk pancakes served with fruit.
Highly recommend for maybe a special occasion as it is not cheap.
Requested a quiet table for two and on arrival very happy with a corner table with wrap around seating.
Perfect spot for a dinner date with excellent food and service. Thank you for a wonderful evening!
Absolutely amazing meal with my wife for our wedding anniversary. Superb quality, choice and service, and cannot rate highly enough. As soon as we can afford it we will be back!!
