The Ivy in the Lanes
This was our third visit to Brighton's Ivy and it certainly lived up to all our expectations. It was why I took my wife, Patricia, there to celebrate her birthday. The ambience is unmatched in Brighton. A visit to the cocktail bar is the ideal start to any visit there, and after that the food, service and general atmosphere (even the toilets) were all outstanding. The place to go for a special treat.
Friendly atmosphere and nice food . Would recommend friends and family.
We had an ok time. They have put so many tables in that I felt the lady next to me was on my table !! I could not have a private conversation and I am sure they felt the same. For an overpriced burger I felt like I was sitting in a cafe ! Not an exclusive restaurant.
Lovely lovely restaurant, would recommend highly. Fab food and fab atmosphere!
Excellent food and service .
Good value .
Tables for two in main restaurant were a little small and too close to neighbouring so lacked privacy and felt a little hemmed in !
Great service and food was delicious .
Excellent food , good service and very friendly .enjoyed it all.
I love all of the Ivy's from the original to the new brasseries and Brighton didn't disappoint. The food and service were both up to the usual impeccable levels that you come to expect.
The lovely thing about the brasserie style restaurants is that it seems the waiters are allowed to project a little more humour.
Excellent as ever!
Restaurant was unbearably hot, had to go outside to cool down.
Have been before, so was looking forward to it, however, my main was burnt I’m not a complainer so ate some of it, mentioned it to the waitress but not much response
Thank you we all had a great time! Food could have done being a little hotter at service. Other than that all was good.
I was really looking forward to my experience but was very disappointed, arrived 1/2 hour early so had a drink at the bar, then we was forgotten about as we were seated half hour after hour booked time..I ordered the 3 course set meal and was told my steak would be flash fried by the waitress ..it arrived well done,it was so tough my friend was choking on her steak in front of the waitress who said nothing,I refused to eat mine as it was so tough as well..I was left hungry ..we were given 2 complimentary coffees and a discount on my steak, however I will not return to dine here or recommend
Always great fun. Definitely my favourite Ivy.
As ever - good food and wine with very attentive service.
This restaurant has it all, ambiance, friendly staff & cuisine that is wonderful & great choices.
I would highly recommend to anyone.
I can’t wait to return for a lunch next time!
I have used the Ivy a lot since it opened in Brighton . It's a great addition to the city - fun, lively , decent food and excellent staff. On this last occasion the meal was to celebrate a particular important event and our waitress recognised this discreetly and was really fantastic.
Amazing afternoon tea as an anniversary gift for my parents!! Noise levels are high though!!
My experience was great the service was excellent, friendly and efficient. The venue was elegant and comfortable and made my friends and I relaxed and welcomed.
The most beautifully decorated restaurant however food good side of average, fish and chips mediocre what is infuriating is to be charged a service charge when service wasn’t great, had to wait ages between courses, had to ask for more drinks, had to wait ages for bill, it wasn’t until we actually put our coats on to leave did we finally get the bill, 30 minutes after asking.
Probably wouldn’t go back, overpriced and didn’t live up to the Ivys great reputation.
First time we ate at The Ivy in the Lanes Brighton & we were very happy with everything, the food was great, the service was great also, the decor inside, the cleanliness, everything was just more than what we imagined, we also got a complimentary cake as it was for my boyfriends 30th birthday.
Thank you The Ivy Brighton.
Myself and two friends brought our mums here for a Sunday afternoon treat as a Christmas treat and loved it .
My boyfriend proposed to me and the staff where amazing... food was excellent and we can’t wait to return with friends! Thank you x
The Ivy in the Lanes has a reputation to live up to and will (nearly) always be judged against the reputation of it's flagship restaurant in London.
The first impression is how you are met on arrival, and it was OK, our coats were checked and we were shown to our table.....Second Impression !
Our table for six was directly in front of the bar, an odd cigar shaped table, the two people seated on either end did struggle a little to find enough space for their food, drinks etc. The table was also on a main thoroughfare for the kitchen, toilets and a waiter station, and unsurprisingly I was 'bumped occasionally by people passing' by - Lack of space seems to be a theme throughout the restaurant, due to its popularity they have crammed as many covers into the space available and it does feel slightly cramped.
The service was very good, and the staff were attentive, polite and generally very warm towards you - something you would expect from a restaurant with such a reputation.
The food was also 'good', not exceptional, not something different that would make you scream from the rafters but good, from me this is regarded as a compliment, the plates were hot which was more than could be said of the food, don't take me wrong, the food wasn't cold either, it was warm, my suspicions are that the plates had been sitting on the pass for a while before our plates were delivered to the table. We all enjoyed our meals and we commented on the quality of the ingredients - six empty plates does not say you didn't enjoy it !
The décor an ambiance of the restaurant, combined with the good service and food made our evening a very pleasant experience and we would (we will) go back again.
Too expensive although great venue !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Such a great venue great atmosphere and amazingly attentive staff but the food options are so boring!
I recommended to my friends and we went Saturday evening. The staff, food, ambience, everything was excellent. Just a fabulous experience, would go every weekend if I had the time! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Loved the atmosphere of the restaurant, a great buzz about the place and the decor is fun and vibrant. Food was delicious and the service was spot on, would highly recommend and hope to return again soon.
A lovely birthday lunch treating ourselves to the gorgeous Turbot and a bottle of Chardonnay.
Service was outstanding.
A lovely experience, food was excellent, waitress was also excellent the whole atmosphere was really enjoyable, felt special and the food was of a high quality and very well priced, not much more than my local pub but far superior, can't wait to visit again.
I have visited the Brighton Ivy 6 times since it opened. Usually the ambience, service and food is excellent. However, last Saturday the ambience was far from good. The resident DJ was playing loud dance music at lunchtime? It did not fit in with the clientele. I could just about hear my friend speak and this wasn't due to poor hearing. I would understand if it were the evening but to go somewhere to eat at lunchtime and listen to dance music isn't for me. I can only guess that The Ivy Brighton wants to encourage a lot younger client than what they are enticing at the moment.
Great food, service as always. 4th visit this year, it’s always very good.
Amazing food and good selection of wines but we did feel too many tables have been squeezed in.
Everything was from Prefect the first moment we walked in to when we left all the staff where very friendly and helpful and the food was amazing
Then food and wine was absolutely delicious. My husband and I had the arancini balls to start and they were just incredible. Each course had it's own deliciousness and we were very pleased. The waitress was lovely as well and for a 3 course meal with a bottle of wine finishing at £88, we were really impressed.
Had a fabulous meal and drinks this weekend. Lovely staff behind bar and waiting. Very enjoyable experience!
Noisy. Unfriendly waiter. Incinerated burger, come on how hard to cook a burger . Definitely doesn't live up to its reputation.
Raucous bunch of woman next to our table spoilt the atmosphere. Good apart from that
Amazing food and the decor is so beautiful. Adore this place!
We were sat down quite quickly and then our order was taken. We had not even finished our starters when the main arrived. We had ordered white wine and the ice bucket was placed some distance from us. Not once did anyone fill up our glasses, and then at the end of our meal we were rushed so they could have our table. Although it was busy I expected to finish our meal at our leisure.
Obviously being this close to Christmas the place was heaving ( I suspect it is always busy) and we did have to wait for our table beyond the booked slot. However the delay was nicely handled and it was not a problem. The fish and chips were excellent nicely cooked and hot. Attentive service and I love the decor. noisy
Perfect for an informal meal or catching up with friends. Book early as tables not always available on the day.
What a wonderful place to go,so much to look at,such friendly staff, the food was perfect, and it was lovely to see so many tables not only full, but of happy laughing people,we can't Walt to go again x
