The Ivy in the Lanes
The Ivy is an experience for food lovers and interior design lovers. Make sure you use the toilet, it's amazing.
Really disappointed - it was a birthday celebration which I was really looking forward to. Hot food was mostly cold, there was no avocado in the prawn and avocado salad, lattes were only half full & tepid, pancakes seemed to be out of a packet. Not much menu appeal for brunch either...
Also, my brother had asked to join four people onto our party but was told absolutely no space, but the restaurant was almost empty. Such a shame.
Favourite place to eat in Brighton but be prepared to book in advance! It's hard to have a conversation on a Saturday night as they have a DJ that was a bit loud for my parents but would have been great for a group of friends. Will definitely return!
Saturday evening get together and didn’t disappoint !
Great atmosphere lovely food great buzz about the place every member of staff really on the ball .
1 small gripe lack of good bottles larger beer choice not good but food all amazing.
Been to ivy in London, Marlow, Edinburgh, all top restaurants
Excellent food and Service / Ambient.
Excellent food and Service / Ambient.
Lovely Food - good service and great ambience - overall a very nice evening out
Great atmosphere, sat at the bar which was great people watching, service and food were spot on!
Food was amazing as always.
I booked for afternoon tea on a Saturday. On booking I was asked if it was for an occasion so advised it was for my Mum’s birthday. I’m not sure why, as this was never acknowledged during our visit. We were squashed in between two tables eating their evening meals while we ate a rather stale afternoon tea. The sandwiches were dry & as though they had been sitting around all day. The scones were no different to those I could buy in a supermarket for a few pence. The waiter was unaware we were there for afternoon tea until I let him know. He then asked what tea we’d like so had to tell him we were having champagne afternoon tea.
Afterwards we sat at the bar for a couple of drinks. Whilst this was a fairly pleasant experience, the price of the drinks was extortionate (£11.50 for a glass of wine) & the bill once again included a service charge when I had already paid a service charge at the table.
Overall a disappointing experience from a place where I expected more.
What a fabulous experience. Lovely food with excellent dedicated staff. It was a little noisy but the music was turned down which I felt enhanced the atmosphere. The menu choice was captivating With voices to suit everyone. The feel of the place was relaxed with an element of sophistication. Beautifully decorated with a very impressive ladies room. We will definitely be returning to try some of the other dishes.
Really nice relaxed atmosphere in a stylish restaurant.
Very much a place to go for a treat. Fantastic service and the waiting staff are so friendly and polite.
Only little observation is - main entrance has an extremely strong smell of fish as you are waiting to be seated but once inside it’s fine.
Our experience at the Ivy was perfect, there was nothing that could have been done to improve the event. The food was excellent, the seats really comfortable, the feel in the restaurant was friendly and relaxed but professional and helpful.
We were very well accommodated as a group of 4 adults and 3 young children. Superb service and patience for a very crazy table!
We had vouchers for a wedding present. We loved having a complementary desert.
This was my third visit to this restaurant and once again I had a lovely time there. The service was very good and the food was delicious. I had the eggs royale and chips which came on a nice warm plate (I always like that!) the food was nice and hot and very tasty. I found the music which was playing was slightly irritating as I couldn't actually make out the tune, could just hear a bass line which was quite thumpy. On a Saturday afternoon I think a chilled vibe would be better suited. Will definitely be back in the future though! I also do think it should be adults only as children can be quite disruptive and ruin the ambience.
I love this place for brunch. It's a treat for us when we visit Brighton. Excellent Bloody Mary, lovely food. Service is always spot on. I will be back for sure.
Super place great food and drink and excellent service, atmosphere was buzzing, and you was never rushed for the next course. Will be back !
Our third time at the Ivy and it is very good indeed
Super early evening menu meal with friends but very, very noisy .
A most enjoyable birthday celebration with a friend. Had the fixed price lunch menu all of which was beautifully presented. The service was excellent and the general atmosphere was friendly.
Not great. Had to stand to let strangers at the table next to us be seated, twice! Ordered Assam and the tea smelled of roses and was the colour of weak chamomile - took 10 minutes for the milk to arrive. A general disappointment. I will not go back.
As ever, a brilliant occasion and the staff are second to none!☺️
Lovely environment. Very busy but never felt that we were being rushed. We were there on a Friday lunch time during halfterm. Lovely wine and cocktails.
Staff were amazing.
Food was so good
Cannot wait to come again
Thank you for my little birthday cake
Not much choice for children who are vegetarian. V expensive drinks or coffee and tea and no children’s drinks either. Been here a few times and the service was the slowest we had ever had. Not the best visiting at all
Lovely welcome, we felt looked after on arrival. Sadly, we were placed on a table that was part of the thorough fare for staff. The waitress looking after us was slow and we had to ask for more water, desert menu, bill etc. The noise and acoustic in the area we sat was not pleasant. A table at the rear of the restaurant would have been better.
The level of service was impeccable. They knew every Gluten Free option and were very attentive throughout. The food was delicious and it was a wonderful experience.
For us the reputation of the Ivy has gone before us and we were certainly not disappointed by this visit. A follow up outing will certainly be made
Enjoyed lunch at the Ivy. Good selection of special and vegetarian as well as a la carte available. Service was excellent being friendly but not familiar
Absolutely beautiful restaurant service was amazing and food Devine !!! I’m so happy we managed to get a table was the perfect start to our day in Brighton thank you
Lovely evening although we felt underdressed I would recommend smart wear
The place and ambience were wonderful, the food was a bit disappointing, the service was OK - started well but we felt a bit forgotten as the night came towards its end. Would probably not go back for dinner but perhaps would try brunch/lunch there.
The Ivy has a lot of novelty value and an excellent ambiance. The menu is a bit limited and the drinks are expensive. More wines in the £20-25 range would be a good idea.
As always, The Ivy delivers. The surroundings, the food, the exemplary service. We took my mother in law, her first visit, and she loved it all, and talked about it all the way home.
Lovely interesting space, loved the chocolate bomb dessert most. The rest was average, plus a not very enthusiastic waitress.
Lovely restaurant for girlie lunches. Extremely pleasant staff. Great food choices.
On this occasion, the food was not quite up to the standard that we normally get from The Ivy.
However, it was dealt with swiftly, and very professionally . A minor blip on a fantastic meal.
The Ivy in the Lanes, continues to be my eating place of choice.
Me and my Nan spent a lovely lunch at the Ivy before a matinee. Service was great and catered perfectly for allergies.
An extremely vibrant place with a nice atmosphere, fantastic colourful decor, well presented food & drink and very helpful staff .
