The Ivy in the Lanes
Needs air conditioning as it was very warm. Other then that it was amazing!!
We ate on the 'terrace' which is basically 'in the road'.
Depending on who is walking past and their state of inebriation that can be a bit intrusive.
Was an excellent experience as always. Looking forward to going back. Only criticism was that the menu was exactly the same as a few months ago.
Superb food, beautifully presented with attentive, friendly service.
Took my parents as their first visit to Brighton. They loved the food, the decor and the friendly staff and even the ladies toilets (in the case of my mother!)
Super helpful staff and beautiful food! Thank you very much!
Lovely experience on a sunny Monday. Friendly staff and great food. One star taken off for the giant stems on the "sprouting" brocoli
Fabulous decor and ambience, food great, staff attentive.
It was our anniversary and we were made very special right from the reception and throughout the evening. All the staff were superb. The whole operation there runs like a well oiled machine. Fantastic
Great food and service, 2nd time visit and definitely be coming again
Great food, great service, beautiful decor! Absolutely perfect date day!
The noise level was extremely high with loud pop music playing. I couldn't hear my husband who was sitting next to me never mind the waitress. There was zero ventilation which is shocking considering the corona virus levels in Brighton and it was also unpleasantly hot.
With the number of people in there a DJ playing as well was too much to be able to enjoy a relaxing Sunday afternoon tea.
Such an amazing place to have afternoon tea! The decor was fabulous and the staff were very attentive and friendly. Will come again on our next trip to Brighton
We was a bit disappointed with the service. Every time we asked for a drink it was forgotten. I called reservations in advance to let them know it will be my sisters 30th birthday and they offered a complimentary desert but it didn’t happen. Apart from that it was a lovely experience.
Very lively packed restaurant, energetic music was too loud for conversation. Afternoon tea was very nice but there wasn’t much of it.
Worth a visit just for the experience
Dress code should be stricter dressing for dining is all part of the experience
Everything about the Ivy is fantastic! Will come back again and again!
We queued to get in and then were made to sit on a bench by the door while we waited for a table to come free. We encountered a very rude and pretentious girl with brown hair when we asked if we were waiting in the right place. The service was slick but impersonal and the food was all good but in no way exceptional. Overall we were a little disappointed, especially since we had such a wonderful time at The Ivy in London.
Had a lovely evening, music was brilliant, food and staff lovely.
Absolutely perfect. Excellent service, from start to finish. Delicious food, hot and tasty. Music was good and not too loud that you couldn’t talk.
Would definitely visit again when back in Brighton, and will recommend to friends. : )
Nice surroundings, nice food, a classy establishment, however totally ruined by the excessively loud monotonous heavy base music, totally inappropriate for the clientele it is aimed at making it impossible to have a conversation with friends over dinner.
If I wanted disco music I would be going to a club not the ivy
Great atmosphere, staff - lovely and friendly. Fabulous venue
Food - disappointing. Squid starter, like pub food. Scallops on runny mash.
Salad, it’s nothing I couldn’t make at home and fish cake tasted like something pre-packed in a supermarket.
It’s such a shame as the everything else was brilliant, but I won’t go back because of the food
Excellent service, atmosphere, food and drinks!
Food not the best, felt like we were forgotten by the waitress on a couple of occasions. Poor menu for vegetarians
Good music, just not for fit dinner. Just too loud for dinner conversations. Not a nice greeting as was asked to wait in line, with queue spilling into the street. Restaurant is too commercialised and does not warrant prices as service has no attention to detail. Steaks price is standard but quality of meat, poor. Not a great experience at all. Will not be returning.
Excellent evening, great music and really good atmosphere would highly recommend
We were sat outside which ruined the experience. the heaters were not on until requested after being told they didn’t work, we were on a curb and approached by a homeless gentleman begging for money and the staff did not try to move him on, a lot of drunken footfall. We waited about an hour between starter and main leaving us mo time for pudding which we wanted.
Great atmosphere for husbands 50th birthday. DJ was playing some great tunes. Lovely food and drink. Brilliant service by Jessica.
Music was too loud and despite checking dress code where is says no white trainers, others were dress more casually than I expected
The staff as you enter were very professional, nice decor but loud like a school canteen. Starters were lovely, duck salad and cheese souffle.
My main was nice I opted for the burger.
My partner ordered a minute steak which they didn't have so had sirloin ordered medium, was undercooked and only came with a small portion of chips and bit of watercress.
Expensive for very little.
Cocktails looked good but had very little flavour and small glasses.
Waiter attentive, but we had an issue when we paid that I am going to be taking further when I can establish how to complain, overall was okay but we were not wowed on the food front for the money.
So, really looking forward to celebrating our sons 15th birthday with great food, somewhere he’d always wanted to go to. Service was initially slow, waited about 30 minutes to order any drinks.
When we ordered our food I mentioned that my husband would need a gluten free meal. Our waitress was very polite and pointed out the dishes that could be adapted or were already gluten free.
My husband orders the burger and fries which could be made gluten free. So we were expecting a gluten free bun, but his burger turned up stuck in between to slices of gf bread. We were all gobsmacked. If they had no buns then he would’ve chosen something else. We felt really let down for a very expensive meal.
The food was quite poor whilst the food presentation was lovely the food lacked flavour and for the price paid was extremely poor. For example I had the pork cheeks for main which came with a sauce. The sauce had no flavour and was like water over the meal I also had a side of Creamed spinach which was awful again it was like spinach in a bowl of water with some parmesan sprinkled over it.. My daughter requested a rare steak and it was practically well done. My partner had the curry and again commented on the lack of flavour. The only reason we did not complain whilst there was because my daughter was so excited to attend 'The Ivy' and as we was in Brighton for the day for an event we booked it as a surprise. Therefore we did not want to ruin the experience for her. I have eaten in your London venue a number of times but on this occasion i am extremely disappointed. Then following our deserts we was issued with a bill for £431 which was incorrect. I also had a passion fruit spritz which tasted as though it was 90% soda water. Would not go back
Great service, great food and great atmosphere. A very enjoyable dining experience.
Food was average and service was slow, wouldn’t go again
Wouldn’t recommend the afternoon tea, was very expensive for what you got. The service was not worth the 12% service charge which was a real shame because I’ve never had a bad experience in the ivy before.
We had afternoon tea wasn’t as good as the first 2 times I went due to the sweet menu change! I will visit again for either lunch or Dinner as the menu looks good.
We were seated outside on a lovely sunny afternoon which helped enormously. The staff were excellent, especially Carlo. A good time had by all
Visited many times before and been excellent in terms of food , service and ambience. Food was great this time , however service slightly off as waiter seemed distracted and had we had to follow up on a few things. DJ music was a bit loud , with a table larger than 4 it might have been hard to hear everyone. Maybe the music was the reason for less than fully attentive service this time.
We came for a birthday lunch, the table wasn’t ready when we arrived but two of our party were delayed so this wasn’t a problem; the place was busy and extremely noisy with a DJ in the restaurant which made it difficult to speak to one another - two of us had burgers which were very dry, the chips were the same, The cod was delicious. We felt the price of the steak which excluded any vegetables was very expensive! The meal was not what we expected but we had a lovely really helpful waitress who could not have been more helpful.
We were advised we didn’t have time for desserts as the table was needed and we didn’t want to eat at the tables outside.
A little disappointing and we won’t be in a rush to return.
