The Ivy in the Lanes
Very noisy and dark like a teenagers nightclub rather than a special restaurant
Very good food! Lovely staff. Best service. We spent my fiance birthday there it was amazing night. 😊
Great food and service. Only issue was the music was too loud and was the type of music you would expect in a bar.
From start to finish The Ivy once again delivers, from the attentive staff, to the excellent food, you really can’t fault anything. They really made a special occasion a memorable day which is something money can’t buy, thanks to everyone at The Ivy!
We came for my partners birthday, and the team thoughtfully bought out a large profiterole with a candle in it.
We arrived and 6pm and lady at 7:45pm having been really rather rushed through our meals and then politely, over attentively encouraged out.
Never disappointed here at The Ivy. Scallops were good, duck curry was lovely and the service impeccable!
Going again today for afternoon tea.
The staff were amazing, a guy called Chris was fantastic too. We had two guest coming from London that got delayed and he looked to see if we could have our table for longer. Can’t fault any member of staff , all amazing.
The only thing I was disappointed in was my desert , think you have changed it , the chocolate bomb? I didn’t enjoy it as much.
Love this restaurant but the noise levels are ridiculous. Perhaps they should stop playing background music.
I have been to the Brighton Ivy a few times but on my last visit there were a few issues. The main one being our main course came out whilst we were eating our bread which we had asked for as a starter. They took meal away but when it came back it was not hot enough, so they had to take it away again. Also it was dark where we were sitting and quite noisy.
Wow decor (esp ladies) good service good food and a good night out
Two wives birthday
Nice vibe here and food is pretty good. Not the cheapest, but worth it for a special occasion.
Great staff and super attention to the guests.
They spoilt my 8 years old for his birthday
Really nice decor, the ambiance was good also service was excellent,
Very impressed waitress didn't need to take notes just memorized,
The food was excellent me and my partner will be returning!!
A perfect birthday afternoon tea. Beautiful surrounds, lovely staff.
A very mixed experience, but we expected much higher standard from The Ivy.
The reception, interior, the layout were splendid. However the noise level in the area where we sat was beyond bearable, so we were kindly offered to move, which we appreciated.
Based on water's recommendation, one of the mains we ordered was blackened cod, which had arrived with burns souse on the edges and distinctive smell of the burnt food. Sadly instead of moving it off me, the waiter thought it would be better to persuade me that it is not burnt, but just "the way its cooked". My expectation from acclaimed culinary establishment is that the food meant to be not just a satisfying filler, but pleasing to your smell, eyes and taste senses of course. And of course trying to prove that black is white (literally) to a guest in front of other customers instead of resolving the issue seamlessly its just a bad tone.
To speed things up as family was finishing, I have asked for a replacement dishes from starters menu which have arrived looking good and pretty fast. Unfortunately my cutlery has been taken away with burnt food but replacement haven't been brought. Sadly I was sitting facing entire room and staff passages with my back, making it more difficult to attract their attention without shouting across the room or clapping my hands, so I was just sitting and looking at my starters (enjoying their look). In about 10 minutes a concerned waiter appeared if all was ok with the food this time. He looked a bit surprised that I haven't finished it off with my bear hands. Aftre set of cutlery arrived with an apology of course, I could finally enjoy the food. At this point the cups from our entrée latte were still on the table and finished all starters and mains..
Yes, we did expect a level of attention to detail from The Ivy and my replacement food to arrive with the replacement cutlery, but sadly those are above standards the The Ivy has set in place.
As ever superb service. Polite professional and welcoming. Food excellent .they have it perfected!
You would have more stars were it not for the background muzzak: the background beat of constant clicketty clack sounded like a call centre call on hold- not what we expected and so detracted from the stylish decor, good food, especially the tuna steak, we also enjoyed the arancini and courgettes fritti and good service. It was a relief to leave. What a pity.
We will return when hopefully a different choice of music will be playing, smooth jazz or piano. Perhaps midweek would be better than Sunday Brunch clatter.
DJ played music too loud couldn't hear my friends talk
Main course was tepid
Bread didn't get served until after we ate the bread
Disappointing as It used to be good
It was my special birthday. I wouldn't go back
Visually a feast for the eyes, the decor is stunning, especially the toilets! Good service, excellent choice of food, perfectly executed and utterly delicious. Drinks took a little longer to arrive than expected but that's the only criticism. You won't be disappointed.
We felt the experience was rushed, I have been to the ivy several times, never felt rushed before.
When we arrived the staff was very pleasant We set down and had a drink at the bar when we went to sit at our table we ordered steak chips and salad And when the stake arrived it was very Roar and bloody when we asked for the stake to be cooked medium well When my wife cut into a stake a lot of blood came out she was not very And it wars for our 10th wedding anniversary My wife was not happy sent the food back and when the chips come back out they were rockhard By this time it came out I had finished my food. So not a good experience not great.
Had a really lovely brunch with friends. Good food, gorgeous cocktails, good service and friendly staff. Made a lovely way to spend a Sunday. No hurry for the table either. Will definitely go again
Superb service! And Rosie was 10/10 service she provided. 👍
Always a joy to visit The Ivy in Brighton. Great lively atmosphere, friendly and welcoming staff and great quality food.
The trip to the Ivy in The lanes was very stressful, very great service and was definitely the best streak I have ever had. Would highly recommend!
Really lovely respectful staff made you feel welcome, comfortable, highly recommended
Great food , great service and very atmospheric. Would recommend .
Couldn't fault anything about it at all food was perfect, feel of the restaurant was amazing and the waiter Julian absolutely made the whole evening, an experience we will be enjoying again, thankyou to everyone at the ivy
Ate outside on Saturday evening. Good service and food. Enjoyed the experience.
We were blown away by everything.
The most wonderful eating experience.
Both of us were treated so specially, it was lovely
Well done The Ivy in the Lanes, we will book again.
Thank you all
The ivy experience was wonderful just what you would hope for.
Not to keen on being told the table was booked up for the next customers when we still had 15 minutes left to leave in.
Not enough staff who looked pretty stressed and we couldn’t talk as noise and music drowned out any conversation.
Lovely food and even better company lovely atmosphere
Lovely place, lovely food and great service.
We will be going back to the Ivy in the Lanes again.
The service cannot be faulted but it is very loud in the restaurant, it is also very warm in there, there were a number of people I could see fanning themselves in an attempt to cool down.
The food is ok but I don’t think it’s as good as it should be for the price.
My sister and I booked the Ivy to celebrate our birthdays, it was also our first trip out since lockdown.
What a wonderful evening, the staff are so super friendly, the ambience is fantastic.
The menu choices cater for all tastes , we chose from the vegetarian menu and it was absolutely delicious.
The Ivy will be my first choice for special occasions and hope to book again very soon .
Really lovely food, service & decor. The only criticism, was that the music was so loud it was difficult to talk.
We were disappointed by our meal as nothing remarkable for the considerable price at the Ivy.
In our party of 4, we had a mixture of Starters and Mains and they were all ok or just about ok (dry salmon etc). We have all visited Ivy restaurants many times and have always been very pleased with both the food and the experience.
However, we have realised how much the interior design contributes to the general ambience and our most recent visit was an outside table on the street. So, along with the mediocre food it was a disappointing visit.
Lovely restaurant and great food/service. Bit noisy indoors but we sat outside and it was perfect.
