Executive Chef Gary Lee creates balanced seasonal menus, featuring Ivy classics, but accounting for today’s tastes, incorporating more Asian dishes, salads and vegetables, and the advent of a “sea and shells” section. Director Fernando Peire leads a strong and experienced team to deliver the unfaltering service for which The Ivy has become well known over the years. The Ivy welcomes customers without reservations at the central dining bar, where the A La Carte and Set menus are both served.
Classic London restaurant, booked last minute for Sunday lunch and was all excellent. The service is discrete without feeling snobby. Cocktails were lovely and barman knowledgable. Food was perfectly done . You feel you could sit in there for hours and waste a whole day it was lovely.
Excellent food excellent service top wine list
Unfortunately the only outstanding feature of out visit was the food, which i cannot fault at all. The service has a lot to be desired. Our table was not ready when we arrived which was not a problem so we were sat at the bar, where we were ignored for at least 10 mins, which got a drink and were then rushed to our table. Overall the service did not improve, to the point that at the end of the meal we had to re-order coffees and after dinner drinks and then we were asked to leave the table as someone else needed it, all this for 15% service charge. Very disappointing and have much better service elsewhere.
As always, The Ivy is reliable. Altogether, a very pleasant early evening.
My partner became British today. There isn’t a better place to celebrate being British than the ivy on West Street
We enjoyed celebrating a birthday on our last night of vacation in London
Tourist trap. Better food in any good hotel. Service above average and snobbish.
Was special 10 years ago or more. Now a total waste of time and money.
The check in Man is obnoxious and rude and makes an initial poor presentation to the room.
It was good, but nothing special. The service was a bit unfriendly in terms of welcome. At the table it ranged from being over attentive to lacking. If restaurants prefer to top up water rather than leave bottle on the table then they need to top it up or check on it regularly.
Menu selection was great, food arrived promptly and tasted very good. Portion sizes were generous.
Food excellent service good however we were placed into a booth of 4 that had been divided into 2 so we were literally dining with strangers and my wifes knee was jammed into mine due to lack of space it is pretty much the worst table in the venue. Fully realise that space is at a a premium however the ambience was uncomfortable
The atmosphere and service is excellent. The food was only average but the overall experience really enjoyable.
Wonderful salmon. The Ivy’s signature Shepherds Pie was also well received by my guests. Attention to detail and attentive staff. Nothing to fault.
Ignored at The Bar. Average food. Average service. Fantastic ambience and setting.
The food was okay (though not stellar), but the low-key racial prejudice and mediocre attentiveness from the waitstaff started to grate after a while. I’d steer clear if you’re a person of color, YMMV otherwise.
Hopeless for dietary requirements. Waitress suggested I choose then said ‘no nothing in that section is suitable for you’ and then struggled to make any suggestions. Solution was to extract anything with gluten resulting in offering without dressing/sauce.
Mixed standard of service. Front of house was very welcoming.
Terrible value for money.
Have not been for many years since refurb. Nothing like it used to be. Really disappointing.
Really lovely experience - our train was heavily delayed and the Ivy rearranged our booking so we had the full experience.
Happy to accommodate my vegan diet.
I’ve eatwn there before and will do again.
Was looking forward to the chocolate bomber for dessert but realised this site did not sell it unfortunately.
Great service & brilliant food!
A very enjoyable evening at the Ivy. Good food, good service, and will definitely visit again.
Food was great, but both our waiters were absent through nearly the entire meal. 15min for a drink during slow time and dirty, empty dishes on the table for 20min. There is good food elsewhere - avoid this pensioner’s trap.
The special occasion was a 90th birthday celebration. The staff were so attentive and caring. The food was well presented and good value for money. I cannot recommend The Ivy enough. Fabulous. Thank you.
Excellent food with great service. Not cheap but worth it
We are from the US and are in London every other week. The Ivy is our usual haunt for a Saturday night. Great food, Art Deco old school. Always a who’s who dining. And low key.
Overrated. Had a bottle of wine had to keep asking waitress to serve us. Food was literally dumped on table. The appetizers were good, mains were a let down. Steak over cooked fish under cooked, forgot the steak sauce, and the fish sauce. Offered us ketchup with fried fish and then we reminded them that it comes with tartar sauce which they then retrieved.
Been to other Ivy’s, expecting this one to be special it wasn’t.
Food was great and the staff very welcoming - we celebrated a birthday and it is definitely a great location for that!
The food was phenomenal. The shepherds pie was the best I’ve had in London. We both ordered drinks one rum one whiskey based and both were delicious. Must go to in London.
Super Relaxed Chic Atmosphere, thoroughly enjoyed our Lunch, were very Fkexible, I updated our Table from 4 to 5 at the last Minute and they could not have been more Helpful, Superb Pre Dinner Cocktails, served us with something Special that was not on the List, Just Delightful. *
From the moment we walked through the door we were made to feel very welcome.
The young waitress took our drinks order straight away and shortly after they came to take our orders.
The starter of popcorn shrimps was very light and tasty.
I had the liver, bacon and mash which was faultless and cooked to perfection. The triangle chocolate tower with mint mouse was a delight.
The staff were always asking how we were which is always a nice touch and they had the common sense and courtesy not to do this when we had a mouthful of food.
A very well done to all especially the Chef’s.
Fab as always - fantastic dining experience.
Always a favourite.
Excellent meal for four people last Sunday. Great service, great environment and very good food.
Excellent service. Wide variety of food choices. Innovative ways food is prepared. Low noise in the dining room. An absolutely first class restaurant. My Dover sole was perfectly cooked and deboned,
Wonderful atmosphere and excellent service
Basically sat on top of each other with other diners was that cramped. Had to shuffle to table to get in and out to go to the bathroom and to let other people out when they were ready to leave, not ideal when you are trying to enjoy your birthday meal
Lovely birthday lunch in a world famous venue! Particularly enjoyed the wild mushroom risotto.
Do not understand when the restaurant is almost empty why they put 2 tables of 2 on top of each other????
Fantastic service , beautiful food & very friendly atmosphere
Outstanding restaurant. Great service with little waiting time (we had a theatre after it), wonderful food and would always go back. One of the most iconic restaurants of London with a menu that is very varied (from traditional English food, superb Italian to Asian).
Great ambience still maintains it’s cool.
One of the finest dining experiences i have had. Maybe a bit pricey but you get what you pay for at this fine establishment
We loved The Ivy! The food was fabulous, the service attentive but not in your face, the atmosphere lively. We had an early dinner and even with 3 courses the timing was perfect to get to our show after. The place was packed but despite being noisy we did not have an issue talking to each other. Great experience!
