Always a pleasure dining at The Ivy
Food, wine and service were excellent. We had a lovely lunch.
The Ivy is a great classic. We had not been back in a number of years, but booked it to meet some American friends that also happened to be in London. The service was excellent. The food was great. The wine list was versatile and reasonably priced for the quality. Despite a stated two hour time slot, we were there three hours and never felt pushed. We would certainly go back.
The focus is more on home cooked English food restaurant style, rather than gourmet and food and prices, given the location and reputation, are quite reasonable. The attention and service is superb and the little touches when dining for a celebration help build a memory.
Wine prices are loaded about as high as I ever seen and I noticed that not too many tables had a bottle in use although rather then being left on the table wine suddenly materialises as soon as your glass gets low. Part of the good service.
great food and great experience. friendly and welcoming.
Service and food was mediocre - I had expected so much more from the ivy
Seating was crowded and cramped
I was very disappointed.
I would not choose to go back as there are so many more restaurants which would provide better quality food and service
Never fails to impress.... excellent food, friendly staff and a great atmosphere. Love this restaurant!
Loved it, but we had trouble finding it please look at directions for your web site
This time I tried the vegan and veggie menu and it was very enjoyable
Absolutely incredible experience; great food and even better service.
Beautiful restaurant, amazing food and good service. It’s just such a huge shame that the tables are squashed so tightly together; you constantly feel like others are listening to your conversation, which unfortunately made the experience quite uncomfortable.
The food and service was amazing would recommend to anyone I will be returning very soon
The perfect restaurant for a relaxing and spoiling night. The lights are low and even though the restaurant is full you still feel comfortable and private. Food was delicious and the staff were attentive. Couldn’t ask for more.
Great service and delicious food. The Wild Mushroom soup was incredible
I’ve been traveling to London for over twenty years and always have at least one meal here. Happy to say it continues to never disappoint. Both my friend and I have special food requests and the kitchen is attentive and always deliver a delicious meal. I’ve tried newer and trendier, but this a lovely London experience.
Excellent. Perfect from start to finish.
Wonderful quick and polite staff and as alway, a delicious dinner.
Great except for reservation- I’d booked online, received confirmation and double checked day of reservation only to arrive to find that they didn’t have reservation for us! Embarrassing as treating friends. All okay but if had been busy would have been different story. Meal & service were great but I’m not going to book online again
The Scallops has sand in them 😏, waiting staff could have been friendlier. I liked the ambient, food was okay but not enough vegetarian/vegan options.
This Ivy is the 'mother' of the Ivy restaurant group. It's been around for over a 100 years in the same location. Our waitstaff were knowledgeable and recommended certain items for us. It was expensive but it's in a capital city. We've spent more in San Francisco and Chicago. The bar in the center gave it a clubby look, we received our cocktails there and then moved and ate at a table. The menu isn't huge but had enough choice. It is quite small as restaurants go. We made reservations about 2 months in advance and when we arrived they were turning other potential patrons away. Would go again, but there are so many good places to try in London, we might not actually make that wish come true.
It’s a great classic London restaurant and still one of my favorites when I come to London. Old school charm and great meat dishes but also surprisingly good vegetarian options. We sat at the bar which I highly recommend. The bartenders are lively, fun to chat to, and make great drinks. The restaurant has fully settled into it’s “facelift” from a few years ago and seems as hot as ever.
Average quality food. Ordered crab risotto with shaved truffle. No trace of truffle on mine. Looks like food is well prepared in advance and not on site. Ivy belonging to a group of many restaurants has probably most dishes coming from central kitchen. Shame as the restaurant itself has a really nice atmosphere. A tourist trap opposite the mousetrap!
I have been here many times before and thoroughly enjoyed in the past. However on this occasion, I felt that the service wasn’t great and also the food was terribly cold. It’s a shame but won’t be visiting anytime soon. Will miss their truffle fries but having them cold completely ruined the taste for me.
We had a lovely dinner and the waiting staff were very attentive and friendly.
Had a great time. Food was fantastic.
We had the most wonderful dining experience at our 1st visit. Service and attention to detail is impeccable and the food exquisite. Loved the ambience and whole 'glamour' of the experience. Special thank you for the birthday chocolates. It's definitely my 'new' london favourite restaurant! Can't wait to book again!
Post theater dinner - the quintessential spot. Everyone is always above accommodating, the food perfection and the best cocktails. Thank you as always for a perfect night out!
THIS PLACE IS THE BEST !!!!! Been going here for years i don’t think you can beat this restaurant for staff, food and atmosphere!!!
We have been used to coming to the Ivy over many years. On this occasion we came late afternoon as we were going to theatre in the evening. The waiter and waitresses were very pleasant. The menu was ok but was disappointed to find some of the prawn starters were missing and there was only one choice of salad which I could not eat due to allergies. I had the Ivy hamburger. I was disappeared there was not an option of side order such as sweet potato fries or mercury which is available in other Ivy restaurants. I requested no chips and was disappointed that it arrived with chips. The hamburger was plain apart from a gherkin on the side. It was ok but nowhere near the standard I had previously had here or at the others in caprices holdings group. My husband had the set menu cod which looked and tasted delicious. The set menu is good valued. Unfortunately the burger let the scoring down on this occasion. However will it stop us coming again , the answer is no and hopefully next time I can rate 5 out of 5
Continues to be excellent, but could do with a coat of paint now
In a word...SPECTACULAR!!!
Great food and great table, service efficient but friendly.
Truly amazing food and service. The sommelier was a bit up himself. Food and all other staff a real pleasure. One of my favourite restaurants! Food cooked to perfection.
Not the expected ambience.
Another excellent dining experience at this fabulous restaurant.
For the money I didn’t feel this was a top drawer restaurant. I’ve had better meals at half the price elsewhere. It’s a cut above the average British restaurant but would battle to challenge an average French restaurant.
We love this charming Covent Garden location and have dined there many times. This last time we were astonished at the care and attention shown us when my veal chop was served well done rather than medium rare. At a highly placed staff member's request not only both our veal chops but our salads as well were whisked away and replaced so that we could eat together! My husband's chop was also cooked more to his liking. We shared a dessert. After dessert we were offered two additional glasses of the Puligny-Montrachet we had ordered by the glass; and as well were given the two salads and the dessert at no charge. We were told that we were lovely customers and that he wanted us to return. We are now customers for life!
Always look forward to dining at The Ivy. Great ambience. Friendly, helpful staff.
Dined at the Ivy while on vacation to London. Service was awful. Bang bang chicken was flavorless and the tuna was somehow worse. Both also were recommended by the waiter. Dinner by and large was a train wreck except for the lovely setting.
Generally satisfied. Steak ordered was a bit too thin for the price and would prefer other options in the area for that choice. Everything else was wonderful.
