Always lovely, friendly and good food. The ivy is somewhere I always think of for a special occasion.
PORTIONS WERE SMALL , 3 PLATES OF CURRY WERE SERVED COLD, MY WIFE FELL DOWN THE STAIRS AS THE STAIRS TO THE TOILETS IS THE SAME TO THE KITCHEN SO SLIPPERY STEPS WHERE FOOD HAS BEEN DROPPED BY STAFF. SHE DID GET LOOKED AFTER BY FIRST AIDER REPORT WAS FILLED AND WE WERE GIVEN A DISCOUNTED BILL. THE FOOD WAS TASTY BUT SMALL PORTIONS FOR THE PRICE MEANS WE WONT RETURN
Amazing day for a celebration! Wonderful food and vibe and such friendly staff !
Thank you for a wonderful experience, in a lovely atmosphere. Our waiter was excellent, and really attentive.
Basically outstanding and flawless in every way. Not often one can say that about anywhere but perfectly true.
Previously on two occasions service and food was all excellent. My recent visit was more disappointing, although overall I would still recommend the Ivy. Staff service has always been superb but I did need to ask twice for items that seem to have been forgotten. I felt the food was not as exacting as usual, the chips were very "crunchy" to say the least and the peach Bellini was definitely not peachy and was actually quite disappointing. On booking I mentioned it was my partners birthday but nothing was mentioned regarding her birthday. A simple "congrats" or "happy birthday" would have been nice.
Finally I will certainly be asking for "proper" chairs as the bench seat was not the most comfortable either.
We love this place. Had everything you could want. Ambience, service, decor and quality.
We'll be coming back again and again.
Food and service are always good at the Ivy. Prices are reasonable considering the standard. Noise is a big problem; if seated in a poor position, it is very difficult to hear across the table. Wine prices are high and you can pay £30 for a disappointing bottle.
We were seated in the far right hand corner of the restaurant, under the canopy. The small, low table was uncomfortable to sit at for an evening meal. It was more suited to an afternoon tea, we were all hunched over our food and sat rather uncomfortably. The table itself was too small for a party of 5 hoping to enjoy a 3 course evening meal. Luckily we only ordered 3 side dishes as there wasn’t room for any more. It was also lucky that only 3 of the party had wine, what with water glasses and wine glasses it really wasn’t enjoyable to keep moving things around just to make room for dishes on the table. Using low tables for evening service really should be reconsidered as it doesn’t make for an enjoyable experience.
Third visit chips luke warm on every occasion
Fillet steak tough even had to pay for a sauce to accompany the steak.
Generally an over priced evening, even by Marlow standards
Really tasty food, great decor & ambiance, and good service. Quite noisy, but still a very enjoyable lunch experience.
All good food good. Service good. Wine good although a bit pricey
Very lovely, characterful building and tasty food. Perfect! :)
Very enjoyable lunch, food was very good, service second to none and our waiter was very attentive but not over the top.
Fabulous. Could not have been better. Definitely my favourite place to push the boat out
good food as always and a great waitress, however, it was much noisier than previous trips. So it made it hard to talk
The Ivy is ‘meant’ to be a good quality restaurant and the prices of food reflect that. I am on a limited budget so when I booked a table for 4 people for my sons birthday I expected it to be a fabulous occasion, the reality was polar opposite.
The service was slow, the noise from the table near to us was so loud that we couldn’t even talk and what should have been a great evening was tainted. The server was very aware of the noise and approached not only mine, but all the other tables apologising for the volume and got her manager to speak to the table. The volume decreased for a few minutes but it soon returned to the same level. However they still added a service charge of nearly £17 to the bill!! I certainly wouldn’t go again nor would I recommend it to anyone!!
Wonderful experience overall. The place to go when you want something special.
Nice room, decent service, food awful and overpriced.
9 of us from our touring lunch club had an excellent 3 course lunch. We will continue to patronise this restaurant whilst it remains good quality and value. I would recommend that you should be able to book for more than 8 on your website.
Treated a friend to lunch, great food, great service & the staff were very attentive but also gave us space to chat. Will definitely be back :)
The food was poorly prepared tough vegetables and warm main course. Coffee beforehand was lukewarm and additional mint leaves had to be requested for the tea. The dessert was frozen fruit and sorbet straight from the freezer and poor value. £150 for a meal for two with no alcohol.
We have eaten at Marlow a number of times and find the food etc very good. Will definitely go back.
The food was tasty and staff friendly, but I was disappointed about the service they offer children. No drinks for children so I ordered my 2 year old an adult sized juice that arrived in a stemless wine glass. When I asked what food was available for children, they were really vague. Also, table was not clean and the floor was wet all around our table from plant watering
We had dinner at The Ivy in Marlow on 12th Sept as was staying nearby at The Crowne Plaza. The restaurant itself was lovely and suited us for a romantic meal together and the lady that served us was extremely warm and attentive. We had the prawn cocktail and the tempura squid for starter, pork cutlets and roast chicken for main and apple tartlet and rumbaba for dessert. We both really enjoyed the food and although slightly pricey (£105 including water and 2 cocktails) as a treat it ticked every box, so we left very full and very happy.
45th wedding anniversary
Had an absolutely lovely time. Excellent food and service. Thank you
The service was excellent. The decor is great but it’s a bit cramped and noisy. The food was average and did not justify the £150 price tag....we didn’t even have a bottle of wine or starters! I love breakfast here but dinner is nothing special.
Loved it, everything was perfect. From the moment we arrived to the walk home
An excellent restaurant with lovely staff and delicious food. Top notch!
Good for special events and have heard the breakfast is amazing
Lovely food , great service -staff very attentive without being overbearing, giving you plenty of time between courses to enjoy the buzzy atmosphere in amazing surroundings. A perfect venue for a special occasion.
Portion size was tiny. Very disappointed considering the price. Will not go back.
Been here a few times for lunch and enjoyed the excellent fish n chips and superb service. This was our first evening meal there. Waiter managed to spill my first drink all over me on arrival. I was absolutely soaked through to my underpants!
The waiter apologised and promptly disappeared leaving me to mop up myself and the table with a napkin. I did expect some immediate assistance. Later, the Head Waiter and manager did come and apologise and provide a free bottle of wine and offer to pAy for cleaning my clothes. However, we waiter for quite awhile for the replacement drink and mopping up. We then each ordered the venison with a side order of green beans as there was no accompanying veg as per the menu. The minimal venison duly arrived and was lukewarm and minus green beans which had obviously been missed off the order. The venison was overdone and we looked at it on the plates until the elusive green beans arrived after quite a delay. Because we had already had enough excitement we hungrily ate our meal and enjoyed the free wine. When asked, “how was your meal “ we told the waiter of our disappointment and gratefully accepted the reduced bill. It was an unfortunate experience in a lovely place and felt sorry for the waiter, apparently on his first day in the job. Things didn’t go well but we will return- probably sticking to lunchtime!
very rude staff- terrible experience. My table of 8 will not be returning
Food below average. Lobster risotto was very fishy. Shepherds pie ok but a few bits of grizzly meat. Chocolate bomb dessert not great. My friend was more lucky with her meal but we won’t be returning. Overpriced for the quality of food provided but the waitress who served us was lovely.
Great food, fantastic service - atmosphere was fine except air con too chilly by the window. Once turned down was great.
Overall though a great time and experience enjoyed by all- thoroughly recommend.
Service was very slow. We were left alone once we sat down for quite some time. Once we had ordered our food it came within 5 minutes when we hadn’t yet received any drinks. Have been to many of the Ivy’s and this was by far the most disappointing.
The Ivy in Marlow never fails. Lovely ambience, good service and delicious food.
Beautiful restaurant, but value for money? I don’t think so.
