Food was poor. Soup cold. Prawns not cooked properly. Squid starter really small. Vegetables totally undercooked. Noise level makes it almost impossible to hold a conversation. As a regular restaurant visitor in Cheltenham I will never come here again.
The service was amazing, the food was second to none . The staff were very polite all the time
Thank you so much
I had a lovely birthday breakfast here with 9 of my friends and although an extra person turned up they were more than happy to add an extra person in to the table! Food was lovely and the setting was beautiful
Found the table for two very small didn’t like drinking our red (quite exspensive ) wine out of a glass that looked like a cheap water glass , fantastic food , service was great but it’s very noisy like echoing chatter all around us found it uncomfortable.
I have been several times and not been disappointed once. Have recommended guests and friends and received great feedback from their visits too.
Great location, great service from staff that care and great food from chefs that know how to cook.
Had excellent lunch again. Food & service was very good. Staff very attentive.
We celebrated our daughter's 18th and had a fantastic time. The food was outstanding - the service even better. We were made to feel special and our waiter Josh was probably the best waiter we have ever had.
Everything was lovely and discreet and the setting in the bar area is gorgeous.
Four ladies catching up for our monthly ‘the Christmas edition’ dinner
We arrived and shown to our table and were then left for 25 minutes before anyone took a drinks or food order. We had to grab the server’s attention in the end. We ordered. Our starters were delicious. It took ages for our plates to be removed then we waited another 40 minutes for our main to arrive. We again had to ask where our food was. We ran out of time for desert! We had been there for 2.5 hours. This is the second time we have had similar issues. Lovely menu and food but service - although nice people, was slow and in attentive. Not sure we will return. Shame.
Had a very good lunchtime visit with interesting food, good service and impressive surroundings. We thought the price was reasonable.
Took my husband to the Ivy for his birthday and it was a fabulous evening - food, service and overall atmosphere really good and would highly recommend
Very enjoyable lunch experience good service, variable menu, wonderful ambience
Discovered during Christmas shopping trip to Cheltenham with friend. We liked it better than our local Ivy in Bath, and had dinner there on both nights. Gorgeous building, beautifully decorated. Not the most exciting food, but v reliable & consistently good quality also open daily, inc Sunday, until late. Loved the bar and excellent cocktails. Happy to recommend & will certainly go again when in Cheltenham.
All going well great waiter, attentive and helpful, enjoying our family pre Christmas get together...but that waiter was never seen again and it all went downhill- no handover to another waiter just a long wait with empty glasses! No excuse they were not full.
I had to chase the Guy in charge and we were then served by a young Guy with bad attitude. The food was good but we were left feeling undervalued - poor leadership and protocols. Needs addressing.
Lovely lunch in a fab setting. Good value for menu choice and service.
Great service, wonderful food - just a pleasure to go there!
We waited nearly an hour for our full English breakfast. The toast arrived 10 minutes later. The eggs were dry and over cooked. The black pudding was hard as cardboard and inedible. £75 for three overall. We expected better. Such a fantastic building and such reputation, but in the end very disappointing.
Very poor service. Ordered our starter to be told 20 minutes later they hadn’t put the order through. Overall not a good experience.
Upoommendation and understanding The Ivy rated themselves on their outstanding customer service I decided to book a table of four for a special night out. I booked the table for 8pm and after reading terms & conditions saying that the table will only be held for 20 mins we particularly ensured we arrived in plenty of time, thinking we’d have a drink before being shown to our table. We arrived at 7.40pm to be told to go away and come back at our time of booking 8pm as there was no room at the bar! We went for a quick drink and returned at 8pm. The person at the door who greeted us checked us in and said our table was just being made up, to go therough to the bar for a drink and we’d be seated shortly. A girl showed us through to the bar and she was gone. After our drink we’d realised time had passed and no one had come to show us to our table, my husband mentioned it to a waiter and he said to chill out at the bar and someone would come and get us, by then it was 9pm! After a further ten minutes patience starting to wear thin, my husband returned to the entrance where the man looked quite embarrassed when my husband asked when can we go to the table! The girl who showed us to the bar then quickly showed us to our table 9.20pm! 1hour 20mins late!!! And your terms & conditions say you’d only keep table 20mins!. We had to shout out to a waiter to come and take our order and eventually at 9.40pm we had our starter! 10.15pm we eventually had our main course! 2 hours 15mins after our booking of 8pm! And although food was good we’d passed it! After struggling to get through the whole meal we eventually left gone 11pm feeling very uncomfortable and full, far too late to eat!, especially when table was booked for 8pm! The girl who took bill apologised saying that a central office had overbooked the restaurant and they didn’t have enough tables for the amount of people. To be frank that wasn’t our problem and very very disappointing and very poor service when costing £340!
We waited 1 and a half hours for our main course. When it came one if the dishes was wrong. Think it's too big and not enough staff to cope. Don't create a monster. You do more harm than god.
Such a shame service was so poor
We lived this place since it opened, but a year on since it did it’s really now cutting corners
Warm champagne, served really late after food arrived, broken glass dropped on guest, then after all food was delayed we were asked to vacate the table!!
Staff are lovely but really under pressure on a busy Saturday- and god did it show
Sadly another restaurant spreading itself too thin!
Good overall. Service slow to start.
I’ve eaten at the Ivy, Cheltenham half a dozen times in the past 6 months and it is consistently good. Great service, delicious food, and the setting is magnificent- an old banking hall.
Third time visited. Got to say the steak lacked flavour asked for medium rare , some parts were some more medium. The peppercorn sauce was bland so together with olive oil mash was overall unexciting.
My wife had sea bass, she loved it.
Overall I was very happy with my visit, service, food, wine and ambiance all great.
By far the best restaurant in cheltenham at the moment. Delicious food and wine is good value and service faultless.
Love the ambience, very relaxing, an extensive choice on the menu with alternative menus, creative cocktails all made the night special. The staff were all brilliant, very friendly helpful, polite, & made it special bringing a cake with a candle to the table after they found out we were celebrating my daughters birthday. To top it all the food was fabulous would definitely recommend & cant wait to go back.
A very enjoyable experience and a delicious afternoon tea. We later called back for drinks and snacks, which were also delicious. The staff were friendly and very efficient.
Great building but very noisy. Food good and inventive but pricey but no surprises there.
Dian the man. Excellent waiter. Great service and manner. Perceptive and helped make my birthday.
Great food, service and location. My wife and I enjoyed a lovely birthday dinner with our two children and will definitely be returning for more.
Excellent service, staff very friendly, the bread on one of the sandwiches was a little dry. Apart from that enjoyed every minute of the experience. I would certainly, for the service and friendliness recommend it to friends and colleagues.
Avoid being sat next to the wall / till area if not sitting in the dome.
We took guests from America out for a meal, absolutely fantastic as always. A cracking place, the building has real drama, the food is good, and the service excellent.
An amazing experience with a real attention to detail and a personal touch! You would not be disappoint for a special occasion.
Always a firm favourite of mine, my rating this time was unfortunately reduced due to the fact that the waiter got my main meal order wrong. Very unlike The Ivy! We then had a long wait for our mains again & when it came my salmon was dry & over-cooked. Lovely ambience & it won’t stop me returning as am pretty sure something like this would be a one-off.
Everything as regards the food was very good. However, it so happens that I only drink strong tea and assumed the breakfast variety suggested would meet my taste. A pot with what I assume is meant to allow 2.5/3 cups had two bags and despite stirring and waiting only produced a weak tasteless tea - when I spoke with the waiter he immediately said he would replace - he did just that with what appeared to be the original pot (now obviously cooler) with an additional bag. Unfortunately, it was not any better and now getting cold. Just feel. It is a pity that someone has not been told that the 'tea' part of yourMenu is as important as the food. You are probably saying that one would expect your guests to order Earl G or similar with afternoon tea but you should be able to cater for someone who happens to be different. Minor issue but I will not order tea again!
The Ivy Cheltengsm scores highly for me. The menu is really enticing- presentation of food spectacular, surroundings are fabulous. All capped off with amazing table service.... And they have the best restrooms in ang Cheltenham restaurant. A truly great experience
We visited on Saturday evening and had a lovely time with enjoying the attentive but not overbearing service from the very nice staff. Food was excellent and the whole experience was thoroughly enjoyed by us all. We will be back.
Lovely place with high standard of service and excellent food. Also offers good selection of wine and cocktails! Perfect for celebrating special occasions.
