An amazing experience all around. Perfect for special occasions 💙
Excellent meal in good surroundings and reasonable price. Only criticism was service was a little too fast between courses and at end of meal.
Wonderful brunch with friends. Very helpful and accommodating staff. We mentioned it was a friends birthday and they bought a beautiful little Happy Birthday tart. A real treat in every way!
Having tried most of the Ivy's now, we know what to expect, we arrived Saturday night for our 21:30pm dinner and although our table wasn't ready we were directed to the bar, the room and ambiance is amazing and a really amazing venue to eat in. we sat at the bar for 15 minutes, no acknowledgement from any bar staff- there were four on! In the end I had to say 'excuse me' to be served. When we were able to go to our table we are used to other Ivys putting our drinks on a tray and taking them to the table for us, not this Ivy we took our own! We had a lovely table but the service throughout the night so so so slow, there seemed to be lots of complaints from other tables we noticed, we were in no rush so took it in our stride, the final straw was when the Private dining event from the other room (About 10 teenagers) left their room and decided to use the bar, the noise was horrendous and then they moved themselves to an empty dining table to carry on their celebrations, they were all so so drunk so that was a joy!
I asked the waitress to move them on but said her hands were tied as they were private dining- not so private. Basically all a bit chaotic and haphazard and brand damaging! Dont get me wrong the staff tried their best but clearly older more experienced staff would be better at this venue?!
I love coming to the Ivy in Cheltenham as I love the old setting and ambience.
Never have a bad meal and service is always spot on. Had really enjoyable time Thankyou.
I live in Bath and we have an Ivy here but I prefer the Cheltenham restaurant.
See you again soon 😊
Absolutely beautiful *our starter was beautiful and full of flavour and the meal was lovely too.
Service was outstanding,we will definitely be booing again.
We went to The Ivy to celebrate Birthdays and an engagement. It didn't disappoint. The food was beautiful, the service incredible and the whole dining experience was just perfect. Thank you so much for a fantastic evening
The Ivy had really good service. Great tasting food with a large selection. Would highly recommend.
Amazing meal.. and the building was breathtaking. Restored beautiful. The staff are all amazing
Such a lovely meal with family. Service was exemplary and we couldn’t have asked for a nicer evening.
Fish pie was recommended and it didn’t disappoint.
What dining out should be. From initial entry, the staff were attentive and professional.
Being veggie, we were pleased that The Ivy had a separate menu - a real choice, not the only option.
Rather surprised, when asking for a dry aperitif, that the bar didn't have a dry sherry and thus had to settle for a Noilly Prat . Perhaps something to be addressed.
Food excellent and obviously prepared with care.
So, not the cheapest option for a meal out but one you'll remember it way after the mediocre ones are forgotten.
A reunion of friends
This was our second visit for afternoon tea as the food and the venue are fantastic. On this occasion it took 15 minutes for anyone to come along and take our order and even then only when I chased. The tables were so close together it felt a little cramped. This hasn’t put me off as the tea is one of the nicest I have had anywhere and better service and more room would be the icing on the cake
Lovely setting, the horse racing theme is very well done.
Good service. Very well priced food and wine
Love the courgette fritti and the sourdough bread it’s great with a glass of wine waiting for the food. Not that the wait is long.
Fish and chips good nice crisp batter very tasty mushy peas. I really like this place
We sat in a lovely snug corner and enjoyed a superb meal with excellent service and great recommendations from our waitress. Amazing selection of food and drink for every appetite - attention to detail in presentation surpassed he price we paid!
A beautiful restaurant. Would like to try the dome area at night perhaps as seemed quite noisy, though a fantastic atmosphere. Can’t wait to return next time in Cheltenham.
The staff were very welcoming and immediately placed me at ease.I was taken to my table in an inspiring setting and felt that the staff were attentive but not intrusive in any way. The quality and presentation of the meal was excellent and certainly added to the 'first date' experience I was hoping to create! Having eaten in many restaurant I am cognisant that such professionalism does not occur by accident but by training and maintaining an attention to detail.
Made to feel like royalty as soon as we walked through the door. Fantastic cocktails and the food was absolutely amazing.
Great service, simple food done well
Everything was great for our evening. The one thing I found difficult were the acoustics. As the evening went in it got a little difficult to hear my dining companions
Great food and superb waiter service. A good variety of choices and all at a high standard. Only slight downfall is there is limited choice of wines by the glass. Can't wait to have an excuse to go back.
The Beef tartare and Tuna were good and delicious. The black cod was the most special and yummy one. The chicken steak tasted nothing special.
Simply excellent every time great all round from reception to departure
the service from start to finish was good . the noise levels were loud I could hear everybodys conversation withing 4 tables of me and my wife . the tables are very close together on the tables for 2 and it leaves it very tight for waiters etc to move easily between tables . I also found it very exspensive and have had the same quality of food at many hotels and resturants for a lot less. I would return for a meal at the ivy but will have to have a good reason to want to spend more money than the average eating hotel resturants in cheltenham
An enjoyable experience dented only by what most classy restaurant chains seem to suffer from - the inescapable sense of being in an upmarket McDonalds i.e. fast food and fast staff. I can see how that works from a company point of view, but the prices imply diners can expect a degree of personal service and having to find our own table followed by having to ask for menus doesn't fit with that. Nothing wrong with the service itself. First class - once we got it!
It is a nice place to eat and both food and service were good despite the waitress throwing the soup over my husband. However value for money is poor and I would not be tempted to go back.
Lovely breakfast & lovely attentive staff! Would definitely visit again.
We really enjoyed going to the Ivy on Valentines Night. It would have been nice if they had set up with a Valentines theme for this night.
Nice setting, great service and ambiance and fantastic food. Would definitely come again.
Appalling service by the hostess, who was hostile despite having made a clear error about our large 14 person booking. Some of our food was bland. And everything was hugely overpriced. Will not return.
Enjoyed a beautiful Valentines meal here with my partner. It was the first we’d visited The Ivy after many reccomendations and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Not only just as the food beautifully cooked and presented, the service was impeccable, even on such a busy night. The atmosphere was buzzing and the venue absolutely stunning. I cactually couldn’t fault our time here, it was the perfect way to spend our evening and we look forward to returning soon.
The quality of food, service and wine selection is as good as ever and we had a wonderful Valentines Night Dinner. We were well looked after and had the full three courses and coffee to finish. Each dish was a huge success and an excellent selection. The Tempura Prawns and Squid were fabulous followed by the Fish Pie special, washed down with an excellent Gavi Di Gavi - marvellous stuff!!
Beautiful building great service and a nice buzz. Always a go to
Excellent (as usual!)...
Zucchini Fritti disappointing - basically a bowl full of batter bits.
The ambience was excellent although to enter and see a tee shirted person was NOT what I would call smart casual.
We must keep up our standards.
Overall a great experience.
Nice decor but overall disappointed felt a bit rushed/processed as if I was being treated as a service user, the food was only average .
I was very disappointed as on my booking I requested a birthday candle in the dessert for my friend who’s Birthday we were celebrating. This did not happen and when I asked why not the waitress was not forthcoming.
The service was very slow and the waiter brought us the wrong order.
I have dined with you several times and sung your praises to my friends, who weren’t as impressed as I had hoped.
Really lovely place to eat. Food was amazing. Haven’t eaten anything so lovely as that for a long long time. Beautifully presented. Impeccable service. Well done
Lovely, a real treat, delicious food, friendly service and very good value!
Great place for a light lunch. Plenty going on and good atmosphere. My only gripe is whilst I’m always very happy to leave a tip , and I always do, I do object to having 12.5% added automatically, albeit discretionary.
