The Ivy Montpellier Brasserie, Cheltenham
Located in the stunning grade I listed Montpellier Rotunda building, the restaurant serves breakfast, elevenses, lunch, weekend brunch, afternoon tea and dinner and features a private dining room and a bar, offering relaxed yet sophisticated dining in the popular town in Gloucestershire.
The building is amazing and I loved that the bar was the centre of everything and the tables surrounded the bar.
Food and service was excellent and it did feel like a really nice treat being there
My only criticism is that it took a lengthy amount of time for our first drinks to arrive and a further lengthy time for starters to arrive. There was also a long delay between starters and main course. We asked for our coffees to come with our cheese boards but they did not and we had to ask again for them. Your waiter was excellent and I think it was the kitchen to blame not the waiter
The Ivy is in a stunning grade 2 listed building with a rare onion dome dominating the central bar and dining space. The decor is beautiful and the ambience is very lovely with beautiful views of Montpelier from the front windows.
A well thought through and reasonably priced menu is delivered very efficiently and was very tasty.
The staff were excellent, some of the best in Cheltenham’s restaurants. I will definitely recommend to others and return again.
Beautiful food, absolutely brilliant service, would highly recommend
Fantastic location for a special celebration and the food was wonderful as always. Staff very attentive and acknowledged our celebration with a little dessert / tart without being prompted. A good time was had by us all.
We had an excellent evening. Stunning setting, wonderful service and the best crab dish my husband has had in years. Felt like a real treat coming here
Went at 6pm pre concert and needed fast service. Food was very good - portions, taste and value. Would certainly recommend.
Lovely place and very good value - I keep coming back when I want a treat!
Fabulous setting and delicious food but staff are very busy and you have to wait for service.
The food and the service were superb. The only let down was the loud music which rendered conversations at the table futile
My second lunch experience at the Ivy , Cheltenham. The building affords a lovely atmophere for dining. My menu card had been well used, and was stained with food, which was off putting , I felt the special lunch menu was not as good as on my first visit. However my husband did choose his meal from the lunch special and was pleased with it. Generous portions , well cooked and presented. My choice was from the main menu , I enjoyed my meal. Staff were attentive , but not over burdening.
Beautiful setting and incredible food! The waiters were very informative, friendly and attentive. Would highly recommend the Ivy!
Enjoyed a midweek lunch, tasty food, nice menu although not many vegetarian/vegan options. Service was at the appropriate level. Beautiful surroundings and comfortable seating.
Perfect in every way! From the welcome we received, the table under the rotunda, the wine (and the knowledge of the waiter,) the food, the musician and the beautiful surrounds and ambiance - A very special place!
Great food and excellent service from staff in an impressive setting.
Yes, we had a great experience at the IVY, nice surroundings light and airy, staff very friendly couldn’t fault anything and the food was excellent the best around.
Food was amazing. Excellent server who was attentive and knowledgeable. Recommend a excellent chef's special.
Excellent food, service and ambience. We did find the music and general noise level rather high, but we seemed to adjust to this. We will definitely return there in the future.
Enjoyed last visit, this time not so good service and food quality slightly of of normal standard. We did point this out at the time to the staff.
That said I would return maybe some time in the future.
But worth the money?
I think not
Far better gastronomic pubs around
Love this restaurant for a special occasion. Food is fantastic and the waiting staff always extremely attentive and friendly. Great if you get a table in the dome dining area, although it can be a little loud in there at times, especially with a DJ playing as well.
Excellent service. Food good value. Buzzy atmosphere .
Professional service top quality food and an amazing atmosphere
Elegant, modern and vibrant setting, great vibe with good mix of music.
Couldn’t fault the attentive service and the food was delicious, can’t believe this was our first dinner there - we will definitely be back.
Attended for a birthday. Staff highly attentive on a very busy sitting. We requested table in main room and they attended to this. They brought birthday cake out. Food excellent.
Excellent service, treated like royalty. A wonderful experience xx
Four of us met there for lunch. Food was excellent. Service was excellent and we were all extremely pleased. One small point - background music was quite loud. I know that these days there is always background music wherever you go but it could be turned down a bit. Thanks
Charming building, helpful staff, attention to detail and of course delicious food - all came together to make a very enjoyable evening. Our reservation was to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and we are very glad we chose it. Every course was presented beautifully ( I had the fish pie special which was delicious!) and the staff were attentive but not too intrusive. A special dessert was brought to us to help celebrate our anniversary too. Much obliged! All in all a great experience.
Very indifferent service. Not enough waitering staff. Everything takes forever.
Excellent meal. Food very good . We have eaten in Bath,Clifton and Winchester and we rate Cheltenham the highest.
I would recommend this place for its ambience alone. The food and drink was overpriced and perfectly average. We felt pressured to order before we were really ready to do so. I wouldn't rush back.
Food beautifully presented but lacked any suggestion of seasoning
Excellent venue attentive waiters, lovely food & an unexpected little extra as it was my wife's birthday.
While the food and venue were very nice, the service (in terms of attentiveness of staff) wasn’t the best. While we double checked with our waiter about the 5-7pm menu, and it’s price, we were still charged a la carte prices and had to have the manager intervene. He was pleasant and it was sorted, but can’t help but wonder if the waiters’ grasp of the English language was sufficiently poor to allow the rather unpleasant haggling at the end of an otherwise enjoyable meal. The bar staff were very emotionless and not especially friendly.
Wow what can I say, it really was something special! The safe were amazing, nothing is too much trouble, your wine was constantly filled for you and the food was incredible, they definitely go that extra mile to make things extra special, the attention to detail is incredible, your not just getting great food, your getting art or a bit of theatre. Can’t wait to go back, I’m eyeing up the cream tea next.
Outstanding in every way
The waiter was a little indifferent and inattentive, even though it was t busy. Let down the experience ever so slightly.
Food was very good albeit pricy for what it was, drinks were rediculously expensive, a basic gin and lemonade was over £9 and a small bottle of lager close to £5. The table we sat at was close to a large plant and almost touching the chair behind us on the next table, this prevented the waiter from walking around the table and had to reach across to serve us, you would expect better in 'The Ivy'. Overall worth the visit, lovely venue and friendly staff.
We had a meal here before theatre so it was early evening and not very busy. The service was very quick and all the staff were friendly and efficient. The restaurant itself is beautiful and spotlessly clean. The menu is extensive and the food delicious. There is a discretionary 12 1/2 per cent service charge which perhaps would be better if it was 10 per cent but the service is faultless
Excellent well organised restaurant with attentive staff. Good, comprehensive menu and interesting wine list. Booked our table on line without any problems.
Very special evening to celebrate my wife's 70th birthday.Everything was perfect especially our marvellous waiter, very efficient and kind thank you
