The Ivy Montpellier Brasserie, Cheltenham
Located in the stunning grade I listed Montpellier Rotunda building, the restaurant serves breakfast, elevenses, lunch, weekend brunch, afternoon tea and dinner and features a private dining room and a bar, offering relaxed yet sophisticated dining in the popular town in Gloucestershire.
It's a beautiful setting, provided you get a table in the rotunda area, and once there it was a lovely experience. Good presentation and flavours in the food and watchful friendly staff. It is expensive though albeit worth it occasionally..
Great food, for took a little while but lovely restaurant and friendly staff
Great breakfast served in an elegant setting with attention to detail. No problem when asked for gluten free toast and the waiter even checked whether it was an allergy or an intolerance to gluten. Lovely choices on the breakfast menu, including a variety of different teas - would recommend the rose tea. Ladies toilets also worth a visit - spacious, clean & glam!
Fabulous place, the service was amazing and the ladies on the front desk made us fee very special.
Lovely ambience, service was great, nice choice of food and food was wonderful
The food was great, the staff exceptional. Gluten Free? No problem. A very nice experience all round.
A big thank you to the staff. They were all so attentive and welcoming.
Delightful food but our sides were forgotten and when they finally came one was not what we'd ordered by which time our meals were cooling
The menu had changed since I was last here, struggled to find something I would like, had the chicken salad, very bland and expensive, bad choice on my part maybe
Fabulous service & fantastic food. Went for a special birthday breakfast.
We loved our first visit but this was our second visit and we weren’t impressed. Menu had changed and there were fewer vegan options (only 1 main!) our waiter felt very rushed and like he was just going through the motions, didn’t really care about us. Overpriced for poor quality food and service. Average at best.
We attended on the 25th anniversary of us meeting and wanted to celebrate in a special way. We were treated very well and enjoyed the evening very much
Superb in all areas.
The food and service are just the best around.
The background music was a little loud and not too our taste at times but not really a problem.
It's very good value for money and not too expensive to spoil the occasion.
Would recommend The Ivy to anyone wanting to celebrate a special occasion.
It is a special place.
We had two birthdays at my last visit to the ivy in Cheltenham and they so kindly gave tarts and candles to celebrate the birthdays
Excellent service and first class ambiance. The food was very tasty but the portions a little small.
The food is really an upmarket Cafe Rouge and the waiting time between courses was over 30 minutes for each and staff realised that this was not acceptable. Expensive for what it is.
Lovely evening. Great cocktails, food and service.
Lovely setting, great ambience and staff attentive, but not intrusive.
Unfortunately the food was not of the same standard, particularly the mains. The flattened minute steak with peppercorn sauce was so tough it was almost inedible, as was the steak with egg and chips, so it wasn’t a one-off. In addition they got our order wrong- I ordered the set menu salmon, two others in the party ordered the a la carte salmon, & we were brought three of the a la carte salmon. The desserts were good, but no compensation for the disappointing mains and for the price I would expect significantly better.
Most enjoyable lunch, excellent company, elegant surroundings, delicious food, well presented, attentive and helpful service and unusually, a good choice of wine by the glass.
We were celebrating a birthday and in my friends words , The Ivy made it memorable , Thank you.
Fabulous food served in a great atmosphere. Would be nice to have a little bit more room between tables in the main seating area.
A beautiful restaurant tastefully decorated
We were recommended to sit in the rotunda and this area near the bar is exceptional. The food was delicious and service very good
It is pricy as each side is added as an extra for example chips, mash or pasta but well worth a visit
Beautiful building, fabulous service, great food, will be returning !
Everything as expected from a 1st restaurant, staff could not do enough for you and it was a wonderful experience. We will be back.
Lovely food again!
However where we were seated we kept getting bashed by waiters and customers !
We were seated on a table next to the bar area and did ask to move but they were unable to accommodate us.
We were told that the other seats were only suitable for 5 or more, which is strange because that’s where we seated last time and only 4 of us had lunch?!
Delicious food and unpretentious atmosphere. Very relaxed which I loved.
Beautiful restaurant, great service, gorgeous food- had a lovely time
Lovely evening. Great atmosphere and wonderful location. Food was delicious and service impeccable. Would highly recommend.
My only concern was that I had to use the light on my phone to read the menu.
Another lovely meal. Attentive waiting staff. Gorgeous surroundings.
excellent food and impeccable service, will be going back as soon as possible
A very enjoyable mid-week lunch. Food and service mostly met with Ivy expectations. Main course portion was a tad small in my opinion (I had the blackened cod)....another stem of broccoli, which is cheap enough, wouldn’t have gone a miss. The creme brulee however was delicious. Not sure that the background music was necessary but maybe that’s just me. Ono other observations, tables on the ‘inner circle’ somewhat crammed in. I was nearly sent flying when the diner behind pushed his chair back as he stood to leave.
Good place to eat but my veal and my wife's meal had too much salt in the sauce - overpowering and spoilt the subtle of the sauce. Otherwise it was fine. Go easy on the salt next time?
This used to be my bank - I bet lots of people have said that!! The transformation has really enhanced what is an iconic Cheltenham building (a much overused word but appropriate in this case) and although the architecture could be admired it was wasted as a bank branch, to be honest. I have used the Ivy in London (both the restaurant and the High Street Ken Brasserie) and this certainly didn't disappoint. The Rotunda is a wonderful building being used for its original purpose, entertaining visitors (although I'm glad you aren't inviting guests to 'take the waters' as it's foul stuff). But I digress. Beautifully finished and the service and food were to the standard we would expect - thank you for a marvellous evening. We will be back, mentioned our experience on social media and people are saying 'try breakfast!' - so we will!
The only thing which you can't really do much about, is that when it's busy the cacophany of voices reflects off the parabola of a roof and bounces back down so it is a tad noisy. I thought for that reason, the piped muisic was a little loud. But that is a bit nit-picking.
Thank you team for a memorable evening
The food and service was absolutely outstanding. me and partner came for our year anniversary on Saturday and loved everything. The only issue (which didn't affect us too much as we were there celebrating and enjoying the atmosphere) was the length of time between dishes/courses. Spent just over 2 hours at the restaurant (including the 20 minutes at the amazing bar) but the service from the waiters and the incredible food made up for it immensely. Would definitely recommend and want to return! Loved the cocktails aswell.
Excellent food and service, beautiful decor and a great atmosphere
Second time in the last month we have taken visitors to The Ivy, probably one of the best restaurants in Cheltenham, and again we enjoyed a good evening with excellent food and attentive service
Absolutely wonderful, customer service was outstanding, food was amazing and the whole experience was truly special. I would highly recommend
We live in Scotland so this was a special treat for us. The building was magnificent and our waitress was outstanding. The bar man made us Individual cocktails without a problem. The food was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious
We even had the most wonderful box made up for us with food we could not eat
A wonderful experience but very expensive.
Brilliant service. Excellent food. What more could you ask.
lovely food with excellent service and a very pleasant atmosphere what more can you ask for .
