The Ivy Montpellier Brasserie, Cheltenham
Located in the stunning grade I listed Montpellier Rotunda building, the restaurant serves breakfast, elevenses, lunch, weekend brunch, afternoon tea and dinner and features a private dining room and a bar, offering relaxed yet sophisticated dining in the popular town in Gloucestershire.
A contrasting experience. The environment is excellent, nice layout, good tables, lots of plants The food looks good but is actually average. The prices are not terrible, other than the G&T's, £12 is quite a profit margin. So on balance, mixed.
It's a nice brasserie environment and the staff are lovey. The food is very nice and not too pricey for an up market restaurant, but I just felt it didn't really wow me. I think it's because there were no surprises like little in between nibbles, after dinner aperitif etc. I'm not saying I didn't enjoy it as it was a really nice evening, but it was all over a bit soon and it doesn't rank all that high in my list of top eating experiences.
An excellent lunch enhanced by friendly and efficient service.
The ambience has been greatly enhanced by the recent addition of tropical plants.
Very tasty lunch consisting of crispy duck starter and monkfish and prawn curry main. Delicate multi layered flavours not found in your average restaurant. Bit pricy when you add it all up but certainly makes a special occasion in superb surroundings. A lot of staff about, attentive service initially but tailed off gradually and had to catch the eye of the waiting staff to order a sweet, coffee then bill.
The food was not good. My T Bone steak was very poor - Tuna starter poor.
Beautiful building, fabulous food, enthusiast staff a very good evening
Lovely place, great food and attentive service
My only issue is the acoustics - even with an almost empty restaurant, the beautiful ceiling doesn't bode well for hearing what your guest is actually saying !
Super wait or, lovely food.great atmosphere, will definitely be back.
Beautiful location, friendly staff and a good varied menu. Will definitely go again
Staff amazing, very friendly and helpful and great with my 2 year old. Food was amazing too.
We were offered water before we had even sat down expecting complimentary water we were unhappy to pay for it. The food was very well presented but was not warm enough - also the coffee was not hot enough. Buck's Fizz is small for £9.50
A wonderful experience and we will be going again soon!
We had a thoroughly enjoyable evening for our girls night out. Our waiter was lovely, food was fabulous and we are looking forward to next time
A very good evening .the service was just right no pressure but every course on time.
The food was exellent and the ambiance perfect
We have a very enjoyable evening and looking forward to coming back
This was a special meal during our stay in Cheltenham. The Ivy was recommended to us when we arrived so was pleased to get booked in on the Saturday even if it was earlier than we had wished. The 2 hours allocated for the table passed quickly so I would probably arrive earlier and have a leisurely cocktail before going to the table so that we can appreciate the surroundings more.
We are a group of school friends from 42 years ago who try to meet up once a year so this experience is added to the many lovely times/meals we have shared.

Very nice decoration around the room! Great atmosphere and lovely service. The food was very nice however the drinks were a bit pricey. I guess you pay for the experience though and it’s very worth it.
The staff did not ask how the food was once they were just trying to buy as much as possible , the value for money was appalling - the cream tea is £20 each and all that’s included is a few small sandwiches , a scone , and some cake.
Booked three months ago. Requested a booth for 4 people. Girl on reception desk was very condescending and said the booths were for five guests only. I saw parties of 3 and 4 sitting in booths and when I mentioned it, she just rolled her eyes. Need a side of rice with the lobster and asparagus gratin. Way too much sauce. Service impeccable. Had planned to visit again as a couple but you have taken out the 'divider' between diners and people at the bar, which makes it too open for an intimate dinner.
We had a lovely birthday treat for my mum. Our waiter was attentive and delightful. Food was amazing and we had a wonderful time - no rush to leave the table either with was refreshing. Well done The Ivy!
We really enjoyed our breakfast, staff were extremely attentive and the food was relatively fast, but of very high quality. The restaurant itself was a lovely venue
Recommend it for the building and service but not the standard of the food
This was my first trip to the Ivy and I have to say that it was fantastic. The service was exceptional and the food delicious, with a great menu and healthy sized portions. Will definitely be going again.
Friendly, professional staff. Beautiful interior. Food fabulous.
We have been to the Ivy several times and this time was for a Birthday celebration. It has always been very good, hence why I booked again.
Starters were OK, nothing special.
Main courses were dreadful, Half a Chicken that was so over cooked you could hardly eat it. Monkfish curry that was chewy so overcooked also and a Burger that looked not much better than a fast food take away burger and tasted bland.
Huge disappointment and a bill of £200 to add insult to injury. We had free desserts, which we were not really interested in as the food had been so poor. I was not allowed to take in a Birthday cake and so was given a complimentary Raspberry Tart, lovely I thought, however.. it was the size of a milk bottle lid.
Very very disappointing, we wont be going back, which is sad as the building, service and ambiance are lovely.
Really good overall! Great service and beautiful decor! Only little bit of feedback is on the set menu the Camembert dessert was pretty poor, just two slices of cheese and celery and crackers. Will defo go back however! Think the set menu is great value and the Ivy group have really brought style back to dining!
We were look after very well and the food was lovely! Enjoyable!
Mum & I treated my sister to Birthday Brunch. Staff could not of been more kind and attentive towards us. I pre-booked and asked for a lovely table as it was a special celebration. We were shown to a perfect booth in the main dining room. Omelettes were delicious. Lovely ambiance, calm, exceptional service. Attention to detail appreciated. Sincere thanks to The Ivy Team for making my sister feel so special. x
Visited on a Sunday for an early evening dinner. Made very welcome by smartly dressed, personable and attentive staff.
The food was delicious and the drinks (Ivy special G&T and Bloody Mary) perfect.
The relaxing ambience and the stunning setting of the restaurant was marred only by the imperfect accoustics. Dining under the cupola the background music was scrambled with the conversations of other diners leading to a cacophony of noise. Having said that, I would not hesitate to recommend paying The Ivy a visit
The restaurant wasn’t overly busy hence the noise level being fairly low. Our Afternoon Tea was delicious and we likened it to the one we had at the Reids Hotel in Madeira. Adrian, our waiter, was very attentive, good humoured and an asset to your establishment.
Lovely venue and decor. Good service and very friendly staff. Loved the round bar. Comfortable seating at bar and table. Live music on a Sunday was a bit too loud.
Gorgeous setting, food outstanding but somewhat expensive especially the drinks.
We love it here, always welcoming with immaculate service and wonderful food. Can't wait to go again!
We travel up from Wales to visit this restaurant, the food ,service has always been second to none.
We look forward to you coming to Wales!
Food fabulous but a long wait. May miss Saturday next time
I have taken people to The Ivy for work and I have never had a bad report. I thought I would take my wife for a special meal for two on Saturday 11th May 2019 and thoroughly enjoyed it. The service was first class and the food exceptional.
I will not hesitate to return.
Excellent service. Food lovely. Staff very attentive and courteous. All in all a lovely experience
Had an excellent cream tea at the Ivy in Cheltenham. Always greeted and shown to our table. Staff always attentive. Such a beautiful restaurant to dine in. Staff always make you feel special.
Too cold due to front door draught. Door entry heater only blowing like warm air.
Service slow as was busy
Lovely food. Great atmosphere. Very friendly helpful staff.
