The Ivy Montpellier Brasserie, Cheltenham
Located in the stunning grade I listed Montpellier Rotunda building, the restaurant serves breakfast, elevenses, lunch, weekend brunch, afternoon tea and dinner and features a private dining room and a bar, offering relaxed yet sophisticated dining in the popular town in Gloucestershire.
It was all you’d expect including the bill !
Went for afternoon tea, booked it for 6 weeks in advance, arrived on time, table wasn't ready, had to wait, which set the theme for the afternoon!
Drinks were served quite quickly after ordering, but between ordering and the sandwiches etc arriving it was 45 mins, when they finally arrived some sandwiches were dry.
Complained about the wait and got fresh tea and a discount on the bill, but it sort of spoiled the birthday tea for my mother.
Had the feeling the didn't have enough afternoon tea stands, which was delaying everything. Not the they seemed all that busy.
Had a wonderful time, I was on my own and really was made welcome (not the case every where)
Booked with a wheelchair guest - there could have been more room at the table & it could have been in a more accessible position. Otherwise it was excellent
As usual overall excellent and enjoyable meal
It’s such a shame service lets down this restaurant. We waited 15 minutes for even a drink to be offered & this was only when we attracted a member of staffs attention.
This is not the first time service has been poor & I’ve had many friends experience the same.
Lovely food great atmosphere can’t wait to go again.
4 of us enjoyed the whole experience. The wow factor of the main rotunda, enjoyable food and wine, as well as professional and friendly waiters which really made you feel welcome. Certainly recommended. worth a visit, what's not to like. Enjoy
We felt very rushed when we arrived at the venue. We were not given a great deal of time to chat, look at menus. We asked about non alcoholic wines and just told ‘we don’t do any’ the waitress didn’t state there were non alcoholic cocktails. One of the bar tenders was clumsy, with several glass smashing incidents. It wasn’t as a relaxing Friday evening as planned
Place looks and feels fab. Would like menu to change more frequently but food is good snd cocktails even better.
Lovely venue, food mostly good. Excellent service. I would visit again, prices suitable for special occasion, not every day!
Great experience, amazing setting, food excellent, but service was very slow.
It's a lovely place to enjoy a meal with friends or family, especially the circular room with the central bar area.
Food is always great and the service is generally excellent.
Always nice to treat yourself.
Fantastic friendly service manages to outshine the delicious food!
Nice venue, good food and service at a reasonable price - will go again
Only to people who can afford the prices
Or who have won the lottery
Took wife there as Birthday gift, beautiful setting, had a jazz band playing, great food and service. A wonderful dining experience.
Wonderful service, outstanding cuisine, we will be back
We had a fabulous 2 course lunch. A salmon starter (a generous portion) followed by the mushroom risotto (very filling). Would definitely recommend and hope to visit again soon
A beautiful venue with discreet and unhurried service.
We had a tasty breakfast made with quality produce and a decent cup of tea!
Attention to detail and a warm welcome made the experience all the more enjoyable.
I highly recommend Brunch at the Ivy. The menu has a lovely selection of options including a delicious Vegetarian breakfast. I gave vouches as a Christmas gift and this worked out to be a wonderful way of extending Christmas into January and meeting up with friends in a beautiful, historic venue.
Gorgeous food, lovely building, attentive service, nice wine. Obviously you pay a little more than your average chain restaurant for all of that, but worth it.
Just love it the most beautiful building and staff and food lovely
Decorated tastefully with reference to the local races. Tables slighly tight making conversation difficult atvtimes due to noise.
Starters and mains were nice but not great. Certainly overpriced for what we chose.
Desserts were excellent. Highly recommend the Chocolate Bombe.
Absolutely stunning beautiful place. Service was impeccable. Food was amazing.
Arrived 3 mins late for table asked if we could have a drink at bar as was someone’s birthday was told NO as we were late and you would need table back not best start. Restaurant cold had to eat with coat on. Was asked to leave table and would now have to sit at bar if wanted another drink.
Have eaten there lots this was a very bad experience some members of staff need to realise they are there to offer a service and as customers we pay the wages not the other way round.
Would probably not visit again and would choose to spend money else where as lot of choice in Cheltenham.
Afternoon tea for a birthday celebration. Overall food offer was disappointing for gluten free guest and for others was salvaged by good scones! Third time now for afternoon tea and probably won’t do it again. A shame because the other dining experiences are generally very good.
Just ‘wow’ on every level. The perfect place to celebrate something really special!
A wonderful venue serving nicely presented delicious food, served by cheerful, helpful staff, I would recommend a meal on a Thursday night to anyone.
Reasonable food but overpriced restaurant. Nice for a special occasion. We were booked in at 4.15pm on a thursday afternoon 16th Jan and this may be a quite period bet lunch and dinner. Rather disinterested and not particularly friendly waiter - we have been on previous occasions for meals and afternoon tea and had better service. Would recommend for a special occasion but still think it is overpriced and not good value for money.
Welcome was good. We enjoyed the food until one of us found a hair in her duck curry! The service in the restaurant was awful. We always had to look for a waiter when we wanted a drink or to get the bill. We were never asked if we had enjoyed our meal. When we were leaving the lady getting our coats was miserable and couldn’t even say goodbye or thank us for coming. Totally underwhelmed!! Wish we’d gone to the Giggling Squid!
They make even the simplest meal sensational. Couldn’t stop looking around at it grandeur. Very friendly, quick, attentive and value. Wonderful experience
We had a wonderful brunch at The Ivy. The whole party agreed that the restaurant had a great atmosphere. The staff were all very attentive and we felt well looked after. Thoroughly recommended 👍
Poor omelette, overcooked and very little filling (if any!). Resembled a frittata rather than an omelette.
Other diners had good poached eggs.
An enjoyable first visit.
Good food, good service, will come again..
You will not find a better Restuarant in Cheltenham.
Lovely atmosphere, great service and the food is fantastic. Cocktails are amazing!
Lovely food and an interesting menu. Very good atmosphere, if a little noisy. Pleasant and efficient service.
Beautiful venue and excellent service. Waitress could have been more knowledgable about ingredients (there was onion on tuna starter even though we asked). All food was delicious. Wine and cocktails also really good.
Definitely. Staff friendly and polite, food excellent, and atmosphere, especially on a Saturday night is great.
