The Ivy Montpellier Brasserie, Cheltenham
Located in the stunning grade I listed Montpellier Rotunda building, the restaurant serves breakfast, elevenses, lunch, weekend brunch, afternoon tea and dinner and features a private dining room and a bar, offering relaxed yet sophisticated dining in the popular town in Gloucestershire.
I highly recommend Brunch at the Ivy. The menu has a lovely selection of options including a delicious Vegetarian breakfast. I gave vouches as a Christmas gift and this worked out to be a wonderful way of extending Christmas into January and meeting up with friends in a beautiful, historic venue.
A beautiful venue with discreet and unhurried service.
We had a tasty breakfast made with quality produce and a decent cup of tea!
Attention to detail and a warm welcome made the experience all the more enjoyable.
Absolutely stunning beautiful place. Service was impeccable. Food was amazing.
Arrived 3 mins late for table asked if we could have a drink at bar as was someone’s birthday was told NO as we were late and you would need table back not best start. Restaurant cold had to eat with coat on. Was asked to leave table and would now have to sit at bar if wanted another drink.
Have eaten there lots this was a very bad experience some members of staff need to realise they are there to offer a service and as customers we pay the wages not the other way round.
Would probably not visit again and would choose to spend money else where as lot of choice in Cheltenham.
Just ‘wow’ on every level. The perfect place to celebrate something really special!
Reasonable food but overpriced restaurant. Nice for a special occasion. We were booked in at 4.15pm on a thursday afternoon 16th Jan and this may be a quite period bet lunch and dinner. Rather disinterested and not particularly friendly waiter - we have been on previous occasions for meals and afternoon tea and had better service. Would recommend for a special occasion but still think it is overpriced and not good value for money.
Welcome was good. We enjoyed the food until one of us found a hair in her duck curry! The service in the restaurant was awful. We always had to look for a waiter when we wanted a drink or to get the bill. We were never asked if we had enjoyed our meal. When we were leaving the lady getting our coats was miserable and couldn’t even say goodbye or thank us for coming. Totally underwhelmed!! Wish we’d gone to the Giggling Squid!
They make even the simplest meal sensational. Couldn’t stop looking around at it grandeur. Very friendly, quick, attentive and value. Wonderful experience
We had a wonderful brunch at The Ivy. The whole party agreed that the restaurant had a great atmosphere. The staff were all very attentive and we felt well looked after. Thoroughly recommended 👍
Poor omelette, overcooked and very little filling (if any!). Resembled a frittata rather than an omelette.
Other diners had good poached eggs.
An enjoyable first visit.
Good food, good service, will come again..
You will not find a better Restuarant in Cheltenham.
Lovely atmosphere, great service and the food is fantastic. Cocktails are amazing!
Lovely food and an interesting menu. Very good atmosphere, if a little noisy. Pleasant and efficient service.
Beautiful venue and excellent service. Waitress could have been more knowledgable about ingredients (there was onion on tuna starter even though we asked). All food was delicious. Wine and cocktails also really good.
Definitely. Staff friendly and polite, food excellent, and atmosphere, especially on a Saturday night is great.
Had a great evening. Food very good. Table in a great position.
Good food, beautiful environment and outstanding service. We were treated with exceptional politeness, helpfulness and friendliness. A great evening.
The food was absolutely amazing. The buffalo mozzarella and truffle was the most amazing dish I’ve ever eaten! Our waiter was lovely but didn’t know very much about the dishes/drinks but very kind, helpful and polite.
I have been to several Ivy restaurants including the original and this one has the most attractive and interesting property.
Service was excellent and the front of house/reception provided outstanding enterprising support in helping with car parking for lady with limited mobility.
Ambience is gorgeous but very disappointed with our lunch. My minute steak was very tough and luke warm and my husbands shepherds pie was just about warm. Had afternoon tea here a while ago which was lovely but wouldn’t do lunch again.
A beautiful space in which to enjoy good food in good company. This was my first visit in the evening, having previously been several times during the day. The service was really excellent, especially as I knocked over my glass of bubbly as soon as it was poured: the waiter cleared everything up swiftly and without fuss and brought another glass. The food we ate was really good too.
Excellent service great food and great atmosphere. Very friendly professional staff. Can’t wait to go back
I took my partner for his 51st birthday as we was recommended. We loved our starter. My main was chicken which was quite chewy and cold. We asked for water but was charged £3.99 for a bottle. Other tables had free tap water which we wasn’t offered.
Although we have been to Cheltenham Ivy a number of times now, this will be the first time one of my party was not totally satisfied with the food. They picked the half roast chicken, it looked dry and tasted dry. The other 3 members of my party had Keralan Sweet Potato Curry and this was lovely.
Lovely meal for our anniversary. Food was amazing and our waiter Bogdan was really nice! Definitely would go back!
Definitely a place for a special celebration. The food is unpretentious, comparatively well priced, extremely well serviced. And, oh my goodness, the zucchini frites are so delicious they are addictive. We've started our meal with them each visit.
fantastic food, as always from the Ivy. Disappointed by poor service; lack of information when booking the table and a waiter who was disinterested in the extreme - repeated attempts to catch someone's eye in an effort to order anything :(
Lovely restaurant. Perfect service. Be back again soon for sure.
Lovely setting, fantastic professional service. The food was great, significant portions especially on the starters
We had a good evening but it was in spite of the Ivy rather than because of it. We were dining with people we didn't know well and didn't want to make a fuss but there was a lot that was poorly done. One of our group was gluten intolerant (OK not allergic but still unpleasant if they have gluten). She asked if the dish she had chosen was gluten free and was told that everything was OK apart from the gravy which was then served (separate, OK but still served) and she was offered Worcester sauce in the original bottle which also had gluten.
We also had gin and tonic served without the tonic and burger and chips served without the chips. We had to catch the waiter's eye to obtain the complete order.
The food is really unremarkable. Prawn cocktail was meant to have avocado in it - my wife decided that the small amount of green mush at the bottom was the avocado but it had no taste and I still doubt it. It was served in a tall dish and this made it very difficult to eat as bits kept falling out. The few prawns were good.
I had the goose shepherd's pie (a special) and it was not exactly tasteless but unremarkable.
The vegetables are ordered separately ( I do dislike this in a restaurant). I ordered peas, sugar snaps and baby shoots for an extra £3.50. This was a bowl of peas, not particularly nice peas with 3-4 mange tout that were certainly not snappy and I think one baby shoot. Very poor quality.
In other circumstances I would have complained but really felt it would have ruined the evening. I don't understand, based on our experience, how this restaurant receives so many good reviews. We won't go back and I think there is an element of the 'Emperor's clothes' going on - the building and ambience is great but we found staff and food poor.
The Ivy exceeded our expectations, we felt well looked after and felt we had a very personalised experience with different staff talking to us and saying 'happy anniversary'. It's quite expensive but worth it for a special occasion.
Good venue for a family catch-up as the noise level was good for some who had hearing problems. Everyone thought the food was good and service attentive.
Dinner here on New YearsDay and in many restaurants the ambience and staff would have been saying”enough already”. But not so here. Everyone of them were still professional, chatty and happy. Full marks all round for making our evening a very pleasant one with exceptional food and service. Fabulous!
Service was brilliant and the food was outstanding.
A stricter dress code wouldn't go amiss! Not ideal when you have to walk past a total slob wearing tracksuit bottoms, hoodie and trainers eating with his mouth open. However, other than him I had a fantastic time and will be back.
This was my second visit to this Ivy restaurant and it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. On this occasion we sat in the main dining area below the dome . The service was particularly good and all staff were very engaging..
We went to celebrate with a friend and we had a marvellous time. Food and service were both great
Love the restaurant great food and ambience
Service is always good
It was our first time at the Ivy. Over all I was very impressed.
There were two little things which stopped my giving 5 stars.
I think the contence of the lunch menu could be better. It's trying to be a breakfast, brunch and lunch menu which did not work for me.
Seconds, we ordered desserts and coffee at the same time. Desserts came first, but then the coffees arrived while we were still eating, which interrupted us as we had to rearrange the table to get everything on.
