The Ivy Montpellier Brasserie, Cheltenham
Located in the stunning grade I listed Montpellier Rotunda building, the restaurant serves breakfast, elevenses, lunch, weekend brunch, afternoon tea and dinner and features a private dining room and a bar, offering relaxed yet sophisticated dining in the popular town in Gloucestershire.
Although the waitress was very efficient it would have been nice if she occasionally had a smile on her face and made us feel welcome.
A lovely place to have lunch - beautiful space and decoration. Food was fresh & delicious - great gin & tonic too. Was quite noisy which was a bit distracting.
Just delightful .Excellent service with a lovely band playing
It's smart, stylish and by and large lives up to its label. It coped well today when very busy and remembered the birthday that we were there to celebrate in an entirely appropriate way. Despite a specific request we were not seated in the Rotunda, and that does make a difference to the overall experience. It needs to be good to justify the pricing; service definitely measured up really well and the cooking is good enough.
We had a ball. Loved the live music & the general ‘feel’ of the place. We felt very relaxed & our waiter was brilliant, she knew exactly how to look after us & contributed to our enjoyment of the experience.
Lovely use of an old Lloyd bank building, creating a great atmosphere. Food and service were great. Our only slightly negative comment was the noise level in the main hall ... but with such a gorgeous high ceiling I’m not sure how that can be lessened. Overall excellent and we'll be back
Excellent all round!
Wonderful experience. Treated like royalty. A truly breakfast to remember
The food was very nice but maybe I was expecting something really special. I think the general ambience of the restaurant was really special. I would go back.
Lovely place and food, but felt a little intimidated by our waiter who had an air of superiority about him. He took our white wine order but disappeared before we’d finished ordering our red wine, on his return we were willing to joke about this but he’d obviously had a sense of humour bypass.
Very good, just be wary of the added 12.5% service charge not included in the menu price. There is a declaration of it at the bottom of the menu in extremely small font if you put glasses on you should be able to find it.
1st visit to The Ivy ever. Came with 2 friends. We were in the room at the front which was comfortable. The circular room in the back looked amazing. Unfortunately my food was under cooked for my liking, and still undercooked after sending the burger back. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating. A nice afternoon.
Service was extremely slow. Nearly an hour for mains!
It was our wedding anniversary and we decided to have lunch there after a wonderful experience for my husband’s 50th! It was outstanding yet again. The only thing that could have topped it would have been if we could have sat in the glass roof round section. We missed out last time because our party was too big but it was full this time. Next time...
Very good lunch - great staff and lovely food, served and presented well. Good atmosphere an buzz in the place together with a great building.
One gripe is that they do not have a separate Gluten Free menu which causes unnecessary focus on the diner that has a special requirement. They do have a separate vegetarian menu so why not Gluten Free. Come on The Ivy Brasserie sort it out!
Great location, usual good Ivy standard of food and excellent service. Very friendly atmosphere.
We had breakfast seated in the Atrium, it was for a birthday celebration and we were not disappointed with the whole experience. We will certainly be back!
Super place for a late breakfast, excellent food and service in a spectacular setting. Highly recommended.
We had a really lovely evening at the Ivy in Cheltenham. A really vibrant atmosphere in such a wonderful building. When we asked one of the Waiters about it, he told us all about the themes of the Ivy restaurants around the country which were fascinating.
We will definitely visit the restaurant again and would recommend it to friends too.
From stepping in, to stepping out of the Ivy, the experience was second to none. Waiting on staff were patient (my partner takes ages to choose) though why not, the menu is wide and varied to suit all tastes. Attention to detail was stunning. The whole dining experience, the food, the atmosphere and the whole ambience was spot on, so chilled and relaxed.
The food really is excellent, even a dessert that we generally tend not to bother with, was a spectacular flambé experience.
We would very highly recommend the Ivy, and we cannot wait to come back soon.
Beautiful setting and friendly staff but the service last night was incredibly poor - we waited 30 minutes for our wine and 25 minutes at the end for coffees and teas. Not an Ivy like experience at all
Good food, great service, nice ambiance.
However a little overpriced, but nevertheless a good venue, but not for a quiet evening.
Fabulous in every respect - even the food!
Scored in all respects, as previously identified. xxx
We just wanted a quick drink and nibbles and the ivy provided that.
We were visiting the Cheltenham Literary Festival and had lunch at the Ivy between talks . The service was prompt and efficient which suited our timetable. We ate in the Rotunda which is a stunning space - but it is noisy - bot that is due to the architecture of the space.
The food was typical brassiere food but well presented. I had a prawn cocktail which had large sweet prawns - unfortunately the lettuce was dirty so hadn’t been washed. I should have complained but as we were on a tight deadline didn’t - very British!
Fish and chips was rather greasy and the fish wasn’t first class. Very mushy.
We would return as we loved the atmosphere but wouldn’t have the fish and chips again.
We love treating ourselves to a meal at The Ivy in Cheltenham whenever we visit the town. Excellent service, the food is fabulous, good value for money and, of course, the setting is wonderful.
A lovely setting either for breakfast, lunch or dinner. I found the menu was a little seafood heavy for my liking but there should be something for everyone. Service could have been a little more attentive, but overall a nice experience, one I’ll definitely repeat.
It was slightly annoying to have to phone back up confirm the online booking when the whole point of booking online is to avoid ringing the restaurant. But food was delicious. The tables were also a little too close to each other
It was our first visit to The Ivy. Everything about it was just lovely, I’m just about to book a table for 8 for next month , our family will love it too!
Great service - tables are really badly spaced in the centre circle - far too close to each and the plants.! Other guest are constantly bumping into you if you are unfortunate enough not be on the outer bench seat against the wall.. Which if you are a gentleman is always going to be the case.. Less tables please and more space.. Really wrecks a great place....
Very opulent building and decor. Had a wonderful experience for my partners birthday.
The food was amazing and staff were very attentive and bought a nice mini cake with a candle to my partner for his birthday, whuch was a nice touch.
Will definately revisit.
Exceptional standard of food and service ! Could not be faulted.
Spectacular dining room although the tables a little small and close together. Good service but 12.5 % surcharge on final bill. Food of a high standard and set menu very good but again the steak had a surcharge added. Overall a good experience.
A lovely anniversary dinner with delightful personal touches. Very special waitress!
Delicious food, especially the monkfish curry. Perfect place for a special treat and made even more enjoyable by the Live Music which makes such a difference to the atmosphere.
The food and service were both excellent.
We had booked a table and shown to one in the bar area which is very noisy. However, we were shown to a table in a quieter area when we asked. Worth noting when booking.
Yes beautiful setting. Staff friendly, I enjoyed the food & atmosphere.
Lovely lunch we ate off main menu but the luncheon menu £16.85 for two courses looked great value. Very good service despite being very busy. I had blackened cod with jasmine rice excellent. Will be back.
Really love this place - such a nice atmosphere, great service, and fabulous food
