The Ivy Montpellier Brasserie, Cheltenham
Having been here on a few occasions we were very much looking forward to returning however we were very disappointed. Firstly our waiter was very dismissive and took forever to deliver our drinks. He spilt water on my husbands jacket with little to no apology saying, it is only water. He also spilt hot flaming calvados on my granddaughters arm while pouring it on her apple tart with no apology at all. Quite a rude man. The food was mediocre and the chef was unwilling to deviate from the menu in any way. Next time we visit we will, probably, eat elsewhere.
Great meal on a fantastic setting.
Staff were friendly and welcoming and waiting staff attentive and efficient. The seating is comfortable though we felt cold in our window area seat. The menu is reasonable for choice but the need to order and pay for vegetables/sides separately made the meal expensive for what it was. The food was nice but not exceptional although the puddings were the highlight. The addition of a 12.5% discretionary service charge was unexpected and you might want take it off the bill and leave it as a cash tip for staff instead. Overall, the Ivy offers reasonably good food in a nice environment but it is not ‘fine’ dining by comparison to many smaller restaurants.
With amazing food, the Ivy has become one of my favourite restaurants. The atmosphere is amazing, with helpful staff, and a lovely building. The dishes available for Gluten Free people was superb. The best duck curry around!
Wonderful food, attentive but not in your face staff and a beautiful building. I’ve been to a few of the Ivy restaurants and this one is my favourite so far.
Very nice anniversary meal at The Ivy. Service a little slow at first - to get a drink at table. My steak came out sirloin, rare instead of fillet, medium to well - this was quickly resolved. Nice blood orange margarita cocktails. Two Happy Anniversary profiteroles served at end of meal. The Ivy is lovely for a special celebration and I suppose it is possible to go in and have a reasonable priced meal. Great location under the dome.
Overpriced afternoon tea but good service and surroundings. Wouldn’t have afternoon tea again
Great food and service from our waitress Emily was excellent love the Ivy and will always be a regular customer.
There is always a buzz of conversation so why do you need intrusive music in the background?
Such a lovely place to enjoy some special time with special people. Loved taking my Mum here.
Fantastic atmosphere, beautiful architecture and decor but drinks are quite expensive.
Food definitely average, not quite what we were expecting. Beautiful room and service very professional.
Food and menu very good and varied choice of dishes to suit most tastes. Very attentive service. Tables rather small and closely positioned.
Staff were stretched and food was average. Disappointing.
We had afternoon tea. Very nice, may be a little overpriced. Staff friendly and helpful. Lovely building. Would definitely go again.
Excellent family lunch for my daughter’s birthday. Excellent service from the staff. Good food offering and range of drinks. Enjoyed the band which added to the atmosphere. Very lively buzz about the place.
Very nice setting, table service was excellent. My only quibble is that the main course portion could have been bigger.
Nice atmosphere good service profertirole for anniversary celebration a nice touch.
Excellent service, great food.
Visit every time we come to the Races, as we live in Dorset.
The food was absolutely exquisite, I can’t think of a bad word to say! I was really impressed, every single mouthful was an amazing experience. It’s expensive but worth every penny, and I can’t wait to go again!!
Lovely evening out. Sat at bar before meal drinking off menu cocktails . Spot on!
Great atmosphere, lovely food and good espresso martinis!
Delicious food and drinks, great service, beautiful building.
Lovely food great service and lovely building and surroundings 😊
Always enjoy going to the Ivy Cheltenham, it never fails to disappoint; excellent service, food and ambiance
Thoroughly professional waiter from Romania was our server.
The food was excellent and the atmosphere is vibrant and relaxed.
Excellent service. Fabulous ambiance. I was disappointed with my shepherds pie- the meat was gristly and it tasted a bit soapy. Everyone else seemed very happy with their meals.
Excellent service. Excellent food.
Would definitely recommend this restaurant.
A special treat for my parents visiting. Nice venue and very friendly waiting staff.
Very pleasant lunch, excellent service and lovely ambience. Highly recommend it. Also, variety of price options to suit all pockets.
Lovely building for a special occasion. Food was generally great, but the salmon was a little over cooked. Could recommend the fish cake and the fish and chips. Will definitely go back.
It's basically bistro pub food in a nice looking setting.
The food was amazing as was everything about the experience. I took my wife for an Anniversary lunch and it was special. Thank you.
Lovely food with excellent service by all the staff. The decor and ambience really made you feel relaxed. It was our daughters 18th birthday and they made the effort to bring her a cake which was a lovely surprise.
A very enjoyable evening out, good food and good service. We will definitely be going back
Staff very attentive. Food was amazing. Lovely evening.
