The Ivy Montpellier Brasserie, Cheltenham
Located in the stunning grade I listed Montpellier Rotunda building, the restaurant serves breakfast, elevenses, lunch, weekend brunch, afternoon tea and dinner and features a private dining room and a bar, offering relaxed yet sophisticated dining in the popular town in Gloucestershire.
This was my third visit to The Ivy Cheltenham with various friends where I had the breakfast, the afternoon tea and the evening dinner. The food is excellent, the service is also excellent, professional and friendly and there is a large selection of drink options and an extensive wine list. Overall I would definitely recommend and will certainly be returning.
Out server Matt was wonderful. Sommelier was awful. Wine was served in lager type glasses. Asked for another glass and was told they are only for expensive wine not for cheap wine! Never been spoken to like that in some of the best restaurants in the world. Took my in laws to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary - wish I’d taken them somewhere else and spent the £250 at my local Ivy in Cardiff or our other regular in Tower Bridge where both the food and service are better
We had a fabulous meal. The food was outstanding and the service was excellent. It was my friends birthday and they very kindly brought out a cake for her which was very thoughtful. I highly recommend
The food, customer service and ambience at The Ivy Cheltenham are exemplary on every visit, and the best place to go for a celebratory meal and experience.
Lovely atmosphere and very welcoming staff. We will book again.
Overall not bad, would probably go there again.
We requested a table at the front - clearly indicated on the booking - as previously advised (by them) that it would be quieter there.
We arrived and were marched through to the Rotunda area (much louder) - now we would understand and accept totally if there just wasn't a table at the front but to not 'apologise' or even mention it is totally unacceptable at a decent restaurant. Gave the young lady who was escorting us a hard time over that. Then they magically found an empty table at the front right past where we had walked.
12.5% service charge unacceptable and not paid mainly due to the way we were received on arrival.
Fabulous! Great food as always
Had afternoon tea which was lovely. Based on Alice in Wonderland it was quirky. The food was lovely and very filling. We took the cakes home! I enjoyed the experience but thought it a bit expensive compared to other venues.
Good food in a lovely setting. The ambient noise level was very high - a little too high for comfortable conversation. Totally recommend the sourdough bread and the chocolate bombe was spectacular!
Never been here before but will return as soon as possible. Lunched with two friends and three courses plus a bottle of wine came to £40 each. The waitress was so friendly and helped us choose our food. Lovely atmosphere and food was delicious. Would not hesitate to recommend it.
Great service, enjoyable meal, spoilt for choice, will be back.
It was nice to finally dine at an Ivy restaurant and overall it was a good experience. However it is not fine dining which is reflected in the modest prices for the food. The drinks are very expensive which I guess is how they make most of their money but they do overcharge. The service was very good but we did have to request a different table as we were very close to a table behind and on the walkway for the serving staff. We were moved with no fuss. Overall enjoyed it but do not expect great food just a good experience
excellent restaurant, lovely food, lush cocktails, superb service
Service very good , excellent location .However the food was not good . Squid was tasteless, cod was a horrible taste and under cooked . The sauce just didn’t go with the cod. Prawns under cooked . Duck curry was an acquired taste and edible, the other dishes weren’t.
Once again we had a lovely time for a special occasion at the Ivy. It was a shame it was spoiled by the table next to us being occupied by a very loud group of 4 people. They drowned out any chance we had of a normal conversation. We were very pleased that the staff were able to relocate us to enable us to finish our meal in peace.
Absolutely amazing! Couldn't of asked for a better night. The service, food, atmosphere was exceptional, will definitely be going again soon.
Lovely waiter, great food
The Ivy Cheltenham is beautiful venue. The Staff are kind, attentive, efficient and helpful. Service is excellent as is the food.
Our Guest, who is Coeliac and lactose intolerant was given special attention and excellent advice and help.
The best experience in Cheltenham! So Jasmine looked after us from arrival throughout. She was professional and attentive. Nothing was too much trouble. Claude explained how Jasmine was in training - clearly The Ivy training model is excellent. Claude also made us hugely welcome - a fantastic 5* experience. The best Experience in Cheltenham. Thank you.
Having visited number of times, the service was poor. This was due to lack of training the staff to maintain standards.
Food was very good. Good service and a relaxed atmosphere. When it got full up the noise level was very high.
Gorgeous surroundings, very inexpensive. Service and food certainly at the top tier for this price catagory!
I regret to say it was not the best experience. We had to remind them we were there. One guest could not have his first choice for mains another could not have his first choice for desert. We were waiting ages for our food. The place seemed overbooked and it was not a relaxing enjoyable experience as there seemed to be people rushing about all the time
We visited you yesterday evening at 8pm and our waitress was fantastic. Very attentive, professional with good knowledge of the menu and drinks menu. The ambience was lovely and the restaurant beautiful! The only criticism was that the chips were a little over cooked. Overall an excellent evening dining at the Ivy.
Atmosphere was wonderful and the staff were really attentive. The food was very good, looking forward to going back soon.
Great atmosphere and wonderful service. Food top notch and the cocktails are amazing. Highly recommend.
We were originally seated outside of the Rotunda but on seeing my disappointment the hostess was able to move us there. The food was delicious and the place was buzzing even at 6pm. Loved it. A great birthday treat!
We felt like our table was added last minute we were quite squashed we asked to be moved but this was not possible we also had to wait a while for our first drinks
Ordered a cream tea and was made to feel a little worthless upon doing so - tea was brought much later than the scones (and had been forgotten about), side plates were missed out completely, water was forgotten, tea was very stewed when it arrived (with tea bag still in), no one checked that everything was okay, and the waitress who took the bill did not say anything to us. This was very different to the experience of those dining around us (who received an apology for late food and received table checks)
The Ivy is a very beautifully designed restaurant & bar. Loved the decor and ambience of the place. The staff were very pleasant and helpful.
We ordered the ‘Wonderland’ afternoon tea, which I wouldn’t really describe as Alice in Wonderland themed at all, which was a bit disappointing. However the food was lovely and would definitely recommend & return.
Not clear about voucher, bill came without voucher (afternoon tea for 2) taken off, even though at time of online booking I entered the voucher code.
Overall food and service was good though.
Shame voucher thing wasn't sorted, I even had to email the voucher, while paying, what is the point entering the voucher code when booking if nothing is done.
Might as tell us the booking is just reserving the table at that time/place.
Great venue to celebrate any occasion, very nice server.
Family birthday. Always a good bet to come to an Ivy. This one doesn’t disappoint. Been a few times, delicious. Great service. Recommended.
The service was spot on. It was my step daughter’s 21st birthday and every member of staff made a fuss of her….. the choux pastry with the candle in was a lovely touch!
Beautiful surroundings, lots of menu choice, professional staff. Our particular waitress just needed to smile more, a bit surly faced as though she didn’t really want to be there.
Second visit to The Ivy in Cheltenham and not disappointed.
Not happy to be informed that you didn't do breakfast, poor website.
Food was brilliant and the staff were very helpful and attentive.
The main rotunda is a great space to eat in - food was good as always and the cocktails were good too. Always worth a visit
Eating here under the dome is a great experience. The food is delicious and the staff very friendly but professional. Our anniversary bonus dessert was a lovely suprise!
