The Ivy on the Square
The restaurant features a Parisian-style outdoor terrace and a bar, offering tranquil relaxed yet sophisticated dining just a stone’s throw from Princes Street.
As always absolutely amazing, food , service and atmosphere
We were disappointed with the location. Tucked round the corner. We were there for nearly fifteen minutes before we even got asked what we would like to drink. We weren’t offered the set menu, we had to ask for it.The waiter was very condescending and constantly kept saying “thank you so “ I am sure he didn’t mean anything but it became uncomfortable.
We were at the Ivy two years ago and were really looking forward to a return trip but were disappointed.
Excellent service and friendly staff. It was my friend’s birthday and the little cake with candle was greatly appreciated.
Excellent food and service once again, with my wife’s duck curry being the standout dish of the night
We recently had breakfast at the Ivy with my sister and husband and I can thoroughly recommend it - everything was delicious and the staff were fantastic, thanks!
Attended the Ivy to celebrate my Wife's Birthday and we were looked after from start to finish by the Staff and in particular Leon, our Waiter, who joined in with the celebrations and banter throughout the evening making it even more entertaining. The Food was lovely across all the choices and the Wine equally as splendid. It is not cheap, that I appreciate, but as a special occasion it was First Class.
Thank you for a Wonderful Evening.
Couldn't fault this restaurant. We went there for my wife's 60th birthday and they couldn't have been more obliging. Gave us free Prosecco to start, a free mini-cake and candle to finish and everything in between was perfect - a lovely experience!
A quiet Monday even in January but busy enough so that there was some atmosphere. Staff very pleasant and attentive but not overly so. Food was beautifully cooked eg rump of lamb was pink as requested, and presented in a very attractive manner.
We went in for afternoon tea and it was a great experience! Great atmosphere and perfect location! Server was kind and friendly! Great price for afternoon tea and plenty of yummy food !
Food was served raw, so was sent back and then brought back out raw again. So was left. The bill then came with full charge PLUS a 12% service charge. Beautiful place but very expensive for mediocre at best food and half decent service, yet a 12% “service charge”! Complete rip off, will never be back.
Excellent service, amazing food and great options for vegan diners. Really friendly staff and they even brought me some special birthday chocolates. Thank you xx
Impeccable understated service, friendly not stuffy.
The food was great. Most of the party had steaks, and each commented on how beautifully tender they were.
We dined with two children. The kid's menu was good, and the restaurant isn't too stuffy for kids if they know how to behave.
I don’t think we necessarily got the most of the restaurant because a of where we were sat but the food was lovely and the service was extremely attentive
A fantastic Sunday lunch was enjoyed by my daughter and self.
Service was excellent without being intrusive.
Music was upbeat but background, enjoyed it so much I spoke to the DJ.
Senior waiter gave my daughter some treats to take home but I won't describe as everyone will want one!
Overall, a really relaxed, pleasant and very enjoyable experience.
Remember to book as very popular!
Excellent service and excellent food. Probably one of the nicest and tastiest meals I've ever had. Highly recommended to anyone.
Quality dining with an exclusive feel. Friendly yet unobtrusive service. Not cheap dining by any standard, but neither is it expensive given the quality of the food and the ambience
Had delicious meal and service was impeccable I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Prawn and squid tempura cooked to perfection accompanied by the Ivy Champagne to drink.
Blackened Cod Fillet with a portion of Parmesan and truffle fries which were recommended by our waitress. Great side.
Then melting chocolate bomb to share.
Great service, great food and overall a great night.
Great place to chill and enjoy the food. I’d recommend it to anyone
Lovely place, good food, excellent service.
l I definitely would return to try more dishes. The tuna was amazing and the spinach was tasty. Definitely returning and the service was excellent.
Enjoyed a lovely breakfast in pleasant surroundings with attentive staff at reasonable prices. Look forward to returning.
Once again a great experience at The Ivy on the Square . A family of 5 celebrating my husbands big birthday . Wonderful staff & Chefs who went over and above to ensure a fantastic dining experience including the most delicious birthday cake we have ever tasted . Attention to detail second to none . A wide range of options to suit all our dining tastes , excellent wine list and lovely atmosphere with a restaurant full of very happy customers . We’ll be back soon . Thank you to all the staff who made our night one to remember with very happy memories .
Music much too loud and not appropriate for dining
Fantastic service, lovely food and a great evening.
It's the best meal I've had in Edinburgh. The staff was welcoming. The food was excellent, the ambience was superb. I ate here all weekend. Attention to detail was amazing, without intrusion. Ten out of ten!
Beautiful! Wonderful food, friendly staff, overall a lovely experience
Dissapointed in not been provided with a free glass of Ivy's Champagne like at the same venue and same time last year. My enjoyed the Lamb, but I have to say the Fish and Chips were disappointing, the fish meat texture was not like normal in terms of sizeable flakes of meat, but it like the tail end and difficult to pick up. Cheesboard was very nice mixture of cheeses. If the Ivy were to provide a voucher for the 2 dissapointments I would gladly re-visit. Martin Hollins - Table on 17/01/20 @ 4:30pm
A great afternoon spent with friends marking a special birthday, welcome advice on the menu, given with warmth and humour.
God restaurant with imaginative menu and reasonable prices, conveniently sited in central Edinburgh.
As part of a Christmas treat I took my mother for breakfast at The Ivy on the Square following a visit to the Playhouse the previous evening. We had a wonderful visit and could not fault either the staff, who were very attentive, or the food, which was lovely and are looking forward to a return visit.
Excellent experience from start to finish.......meeters and greeters, waiter Luca, food and setting....all first rate
Always impressed. Delightful staff, good food, excellent service.
A go to place!!
Great service and food would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants a good meal
I think the Ivy is a very average place to eat in Edinburgh. I think the cost compared to the portion sizes is pretty outrageous. There are much better places to eat in Edinburgh in my opinion. Been there, done that and probably won't go back.
Staff are lovely and very attentive.
Lovely decor and the set menu options were diverse, good sized, great value and delicious. Would definitely return again!
Beautiful food and great service. Had a love,y evening at the Ivy
Perfect location. Seating and bar area very welcoming with pleasant attentive staff. Menu was varied and quality excellent.A great experience which will certainly be repeated!
Fantastic brunch today @ivy, tartar is worthy of call out !
Visited for the Sunday Brunch menu. Efficient professional service, beautifully presented food in a positive atmosphere in the downstairs section. I ordered a long drink being an Elderflower Garden with cucumber ribbon and edible flowers, which tasted and looked amazing. If I was going to be picky the table was a wee bit small for all the items we had on it.
