The Ivy on the Square
The restaurant features a Parisian-style outdoor terrace and a bar, offering tranquil relaxed yet sophisticated dining just a stone’s throw from Princes Street.
A warm welcome by the staff. All necessary Covid 19 restrictions in place which makes the experience very relaxed and safe. The chef graciously made us something special which impressed my guest on her first visit to The Ivy. The food was delicious, the service excellent and the staff's attention to detail first class. We have arranged to return very soon.
Excellent service and lovely food . Staff made our visit feel special. Would definitely recommend. Thanks
My new favourite restaurant!! The staff were all very welcome and lovely and couldn’t do anything more to accommodate us. We had a short wait while we waited for our table to be ready and they were so apologetic and gave us our round of drinks for free even though we said it was fine. Would definitely recommend to anyone who is looking for somewhere nice to eat, couldn’t have had any better service than what was given. I would definitely recommend the fish cakes
The food was good and service good, only complaint was veg. Was an extra, this is too much considering prices are not cheap!
Food, service, atmosphere and surrounding excellent have been before and experienced same quality will definitely go again and would recommend thanks for a great night
Absolutely loved our night at the Ivy, great food and service!
Food was fantastic! Service was the most standout aspect of our experience, our waiter Eduardo was very attentive and offered a unique and pleasurable experience.
Just class. Great service, exceptional and friendly staff, wonderful and tasty food and pleasant setting. Highly recommend that you visit soon.
Alexandrine the waitress was amazing nothing was any trouble for her
Lovely dining experience stringent methods in place for Covid . Very clean felt safe food and wine was excellent.
Excellent venue superb decor. Welcome a high standard and this was repeated by every member of staff. Made to feel very welcome and total ambience perfect. Staff and management all made us feel that we would be very welcomed back - and this was from every member of staff whether they had served us or not. Nothing “stuffy “ about them at all - very sincere and very attentive . I suspect there is a very good induction programme for all employees: well done- and yes we will be back!
Overall experience was good, and food was very well cooked and presented.
For me the menu could be a bit more diverse, there is a homely feel to the mains and i wasnt blown away. Portions are small also...
Excellent service food very nice a bit expensive. We would prefer to tip rather than pay the huge service charge.
The most outstanding food, drink, service and atmosphere. Easily the best restaurant I've ever been to. My new favourite.
From the moment we arrived the service, ambience and efficiency of all of the staff involved was second to none, a great lunch experience.
Friendly service, vegan friendly and great central location.
Staff very Pleasant and helpful. Food excellent. Lovely environment. Service prompt and friendly.
All was excellent. Marked down because there was a chip on my glass and although this was Changed for me I feel there should of been some reduction to the bill. I don’t expect to ever get a glass with a chip but even more so in Covid times
From the moment we arrived, the service was excellent and the meal recommendations absolutely hit the spot. After tasting the crab and apple salad any thoughts of not having 3 courses rapidly disappeared. Both the lamb rump and chocolate bombe were exquisite. The whole meal was reasonably priced and whilst the South African Chardonnay was a little pricey, the tones were soft, very palatable and worth it.
All in all it made our 40th wedding anniversary and my birthday celebration a memorable day. We will definitely visit again.
I would 100% recommend the Ivy on the Square. The staff were lovely and the food was amazing!
impeccable clean premises, excellent staff, copied compliant , food and service first class
Everything was perfect
We had a really lovely meal and drinks, the table was upstairs and we had a wonderful view over the Square. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was relaxed and we had one of the nicest meals of recent. We are already talking about when to visit again. Well done to all members of staff
didn't get off to a good start as on arrival front of house couldn't find my booking and it took another member of staff to find it. After which we got shown to possible one of the worse tables I've ever sat at, which was basically like sitting at a coffee table looking at the WC's.....!!!
We asked to be moved and eventually we got another table downstairs which was far better. The food was OK but nothing spectacular, as considering the cost was £16.45 for a cheese burger and a few chips and a somewhat 150mm diameter cottage pie for £13.95. Rather more disturbing was that after having temperature check on entry and all the staff wearing masks, which was good to have and see, there were many customers walking around the restaurant without masks on and not being challenged not to do so, even a party of 8 were shown to their table with not a single person wearing a mask, which after being in Edinburgh for a few days this was the only place we had been to where this had happened which made us feel quite unsafe to be in there.
Therefore, I feel that the staff need additional Covid training as a matter of urgency and until such I would not recommend visiting that restaurant.
The staff were unbelievable and the food was delicious and well priced considering it costs about the same to eat pub food.
Excellent breakfast on a damp Sunday morning. Good staff and ambience especially.
Busy town venue, clean and safe. Friendly efficient staff
Food was delicious.
Our server was outstanding. Attentive without being overbearing. Polite, helpful. Very impressed
Outstanding service and food.
Expensive but you get what you pay for.
Loved our evening there.
Staff were very friendly and attentive.
Fantastic service, food and cocktails. We went as a treat for my mum and left feeling incredibly spoilt (and very full) would recommend and will return
Excellent service. Nothing a problem. Very welcoming staff and food was superb.
I visited the Ivy Saturday evening for a girly meal and catchup. The food was absolutely outstanding (I had the truffle arancini, lobster linguine, truffle fries and chocolate bomb) and completely faultless. Service was attentive and all staff were friendly and polite. Would definitely recommend!
I loved the whole Ivy experience. From the moment we arrived until we walked out the door our every need was catered to. Would definitely recommend a visit.
Great food - really enjoyed it
Would definitely return
Lovely meal, great atmosphere and felt very safe. Place was spotless!
Staff welcoming and friendly.
Despite booking brunch for a special occasion, we were seated on the ground floor at the back, next to the service area, disabled toilet and dishwashing area. This was very noisy and we had staff standing next to our table throughout our visit.
Over attentive table service which did not give us the relaxed experience we required.
Menu choices were good and food was tasty. Shepherds pie portion was very small compared to the portions of other items served to our table.
Soft drinks choice and bottled beer choice was a bit limited.
Coffee was good.
Perfect as always. Great measures in place for covid. Food was delicious! Thank you.
Perfect in every way, impeccable service great location and food - great for a girly catch up, thank you
Great breakfast! Ambient surroundings and good service.
My partner and I booked in for breakfast. The place is beautiful, staff super friendly and attentive. Food was amazing and will definitely be back.
