We always enjoy our visits to the Ivy on the Square in Edinburgh and we visited there yesterday (30 November 23) It was Jammed packed so it was a good job we booked in advance. The meals that were being served to other customers looked lovely and well presented. We ordered the fish and chips and I had the Chicken brick off of the festive menu and both meal looked delicious when served to us. Unfortunately my chicken was not upto temperature and I had to complain to the waiter. There was not a problem and they replaced it with a freshly made one. I would recommend the Ivy On The Square Edinburgh where the food is great and the service was even better They adjusted my bill as an apology and as a jester of good will shich was really nice of them. I'm looking forward to our next visit.

Our lovely South African waiter was kind, attentive and had great Customer As opposed to his Manager who briefly came to our table to tell us he needed the table in 10-15 minutes. He didn’t say that to the table next to us who were there before us! This was a 70th Birthday treat and my first time at the Ivy. All the Ivy staff - bar one- we’re really Welcoming.

Restaurant was lovely inside. Staff were very accommodating. Found the sirloin steak wanting as it is only served with watercress! for the price I would expect it to come with fries and perhaps some mushrooms. Loved the Ivy chocolate bomb sweet. Think the drink is overpriced.

Had lunch here with girlfriends and loved the atmosphere. We were early for our table but accommodated at the bar very comfortably. Staff excellent- food fab and service great. Would highly recommend.

Average food for an above average price. You pay for the name. They add 12.5 % service charge automatically, we asked our waiter if he actually received this but he said no! Asked for it to be removed from the bill and tipped the waiter directly, for which he was grateful.

Surprised to find that our area in the restaurant was cold, almost draughty. It was a cold night in November outside but thought it should have been warmer inside. It was obvious that one of the waiting staff was a novice but he was well mannered and helpful.

I found it really over priced, I had the fish with chips, there was more batter than there was fish, my friend had half chicken which was over priced and chips charged as extra for her meal

I bought my cousin an afternoon tea as she was visiting me from Dublin and I wanted to take her somewhere special to celebrate her finally finishing her cancer treatment. The afternoon certainly didn't disappoint and we had a lovely time. The staff were really pleasant and helpful, the atmosphere was lovely and we thoroughly enjoyed the food. Thank you very much to the member of staff who moved us to a different table away from the draught of the doorway. I would have no hesitation in recommending the afternoon tea at The Ivy to friends and family. I will certainly return

Been to the Glasgow restaurant several times, always great and thought we’d try this one. Was disappointing, service was slow, inattentive - I asked twice for a second glass of wine - and when the shift changed we were left with a bill and nobody to take the charge. Not a great experience for a special occasion.

Disappointed steaks don’t come with anything and you are forced to buy sides. Order was a long wait too. Food delicious though. Tables were very wobbly but were fixed when pointed out. Prob worth checking before customers arrive though?

We were warmly welcomed, and our waitress was very friendly and helpful. The food was good, and we enjoyed our meal very much. As visitors to Edinburgh, we probably won't be back, but we recommend the Ivy.

We were celebrating my mums 90th Birthday and felt the service was quite slow when we arrived to order. My niece's dinner arrived and this was the wrong pasta which was taken away and it took 10mins for her meal to arrive mean whilst I had to ask for rice for one of our guests for their curry. We had all nearly finished our meals by the time my nieces pasta arrived and although they were apologetic there was nothing taken off our bill for the inconvenience. The did acknowledge my mums birthday with a profiterole dessert with candle which was a lovely gesture.

A bit overpriced, had to send the crispy duck salad back because the duck was beyond crispy and just burnt. Eggs Royale were ok at best, absolutely drowned in hollandaise. Not really what I expected, has been better on previous visits; don't think I'll be back.

Disappointed, visited for brunch on 26th November. Food was lukewarm, order was mixed up so 3 dishes arrived and the fourth person had to sit and wait. Toast served on toast rack with no plate for spreading it. Had to ask twice for a pot of tea. Wasn’t asked if everything was ok as would have taken the opportunity to let them know. Expensive and could have been so much better.

My grandaughter and I were there to celebrate her 16th birthday. Lovely surprise when our waiter delivered a giant profiterole with a candle and chocolate on it, very kind gesture. We had a lovely time, thank you guys. 👍💕

We were sat at a table that seemed to be a bit of an after thought and was a thoroughfare at the bottom of the stairs. Much prefer the Ivy in York. Our waitress however was lovely and the food was very nice, just a real shame about where we were seated. Also we had to ask for our coats to be taken whereas in other Ivy’s they do that straight away.

Sadly I was very disappointed with the atmosphere at the Ivy. After last years stunning Christmas atmosphere and excellent service, I rated the Ivy better than the Dome, this year it was way below my expectations. The place felt cold and not Christmassy at all. The time from sitting down to getting a coffee was over 35 mins and then it was wrong, so had to wait even longer. Due to the service and atmosphere, I won’t be bringing my family back for festive breakfast, like we normally do. Such a shame.

We ate here as a table of two celebrating my birthday during our trip to Edinburgh. The restaurant was decorated beautifully with Christmas decor and our table was situated on the top floor at the very far side out of the way but it was cosy there. Unfortunately our poor review reflects the service we received. We didn’t find the waiter particular friendly, he was a bit frosty and not attentive with us although he was with the other ladies right next to us. We had a long wait until we were asked what drinks we wanted. The wait for the drinks was even longer and when it finally arrived my partners drink (ivy craft larger) took even longer still. We were never asked if we wanted more to drink throughout our meal therefore as our main arrived we took the opportunity to ask then. Unfortunately those drinks never arrived which did impact upon the meal somewhat. We therefore chose not to stay for desserts/coffees and just wanted to head off somewhere else. Overall, the food was tasty, but for the price we expected better service therefore wouldn’t return.
