We eat often in Ivy London Marylebone but first time in Edinburg. We were seated upstairs, nice views and very comfortable seats! A bit les glamorous than downstairs but much quieter which is advantage. We have a lovely lady called Amy that looked after us well. Food was great. I was the only one having two course menu exceptionally tasty and good value for money and the rest of the group, we were 5, had a La carte, we had some great sides like spinach, courgette frit, fregola cauliflower, and of course kids had their amazing chips. First time we tried sourdough bread which was warm and super tasty. In overall great food, excellent service and good location.

I dined with my daughter on a girls shopping day, she loves The Ivy and it’s always a treat to eat there when we visit Edinburgh. Beautiful decor, great table, fantastic buzz. Good menu, varied, good options for kids. Lovely server, ordered promptly, but still had a long wait for my starter and daughters main. My main meal was clearly missed, and despite several queries regarding the delay, it arrived 1 hour after ordering, and long after my daughter had finished. I accept that errors occur, but no explanation was offered, no deduction was made from the bill, and a service charge was added.

I had a delicious breakfast with my daughter before school returned. Our waiter was Italian and very attentive. Excellent service, great table upstairs, provably one of the best eggs Benedict I’ve tasted, and I’ve had a few! I would highly recommend.

Good food, gets expensive once you realise that mains don’t come with any veg though! Wine too expensive - if I can buy a decent bottle for £6 retail do you really have to mark it up 500%?

I have dined at the Ivy at many different venues and this was just very average all round, 3 starters not available, just not exciting an inspiring as normal experience.

The service was very patchy and the restaurant was not even full. Receiving half your food and then getting the rest when you have almost finished is not really good enough. And the noise level was horrendous. We couldn’t hear ourselves think. But the redeeming feature was the food which was good and everyone was happy with their choices.

The food was lovely , the music was a bit loud . However , my main criticism was that the tea wasn’t served at the same time as the food , we had booked afternoon tea. , We had to ask for it , and it took till we had eaten all the sandwiches until it finally arrived . I have been many times for Lunch and Dinner-and it’s always been excellent , but wouldn’t go back for an afternoon tea. The service from our first waitress was poor . The girl that took over as our waitress was ending her shift was far superior.

The food is fantastic and the waiting staff are friendly and genuinely interested in making you dining experience pleasant. However the people who constantly walk around with iPads who appear to be ‘surveying’ how far along you are with dining experience and glare at you make the dining experience uncomfortable. As a party of 2 your table is only available for 1 1/2 hours. Who can eat three courses and coffee in that time? There were empty tables even though it’s the capital city in the middle of a Sunday afternoon in the middle of the festival. We spent £128 for 2 course meals with coffee. There are plenty of other places in the city centre of Edinburgh which serve great food, have fantastic service, staff don’t glare and you don’t need to rush your food.

My food was excellent, well cooked. Wide range of choice to suit everyone. Service seemed a bit slow initially but then fine. One of our party was unable to come at last minute - the table would have been quite crushed if she had been able to join us.

we have been here a few times now and it's always very good. I had the eggs benedict on gluten free toast and it was delicious, although the poached eggs were over cooked and I prefer them runnier. My daughter ordered the 'hot' pancakes but when they arrived they were cold, the waitress soon replaced them within a few minutes. My friend had the fish and chips and was delicious as usual. Always a great place for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

We visited on Saturday 13th August and ate early as we had tickets for the Tattoo. Decor was imaginative, food very good and the service we received from Daniele (and others - sorry I don’t know your names) was very attentive. The meal was completed with a surprise birthday cake! So nice. We didn’t feel rushed although the restaurant was obviously busy - and subsequently quite noisy.

Second time visiting the ivy, if it was the first I would not of returned. We were sat in the door way surrounded by plants which attracted flies! Service was not as it is in Manchester, it was no different from a regular food chain establishment. Food was ok however, a member of our party had a hamburger which was dry as sticks! I felt there was no atmosphere. Was it worth the service charge…no!

We went for champagne afternoon tea as I had purchased gift vouchers for my mum for her birthday. The sandwiches and scones were nice, however the cakes weren't great. Compared to other afternoon teas in Edinburgh, it wasn't quite on the same level. Staff however could not have been more helpful, very friendly and attentive.

The music was far to loud during our Saturday brunch and conversation was extremely difficult, so much so that we declined after brunch drinks and moved on elsewhere. This stopped me from giving 5 stars for the overall experience and noise level.
