Excellent service, beautiful environment. Food was excellent although the dessert (rum Baba) didn't quite match the standard of the first two courses. Overall a lovely evening.
Great restaurant with good decoration exceptionally good food and top class service
I can’t complain. Me and sisters had a great experience and the staff were amazing
Very good food and lovely surroundings, but the service was a bit sub-par. Our waiter seemed to be thrown by anything not 100% straightforward (e.g. ordering two different glasses of champagne) and we had to chase up the extras we'd been offered (sauce for the chips) before they finally materialised. I wish waiters would write things down! They didn't seem to be too busy so it's a mystery why the service wasn't better. On the plus side, they let us stay well beyond our allotted 90 minutes for lunch, and so we spent far more than we otherwise would have. We're calling that a win-win.
Great Service / atmosphere overall
The vegan menu is very limited, there needs to be a few more main options and a few more desert choices.
The food that we ordered was of a high standard and filling,
The staff were able to advise on food choices and amend to suit our needs.
Overall a great experience just not quite perfect
Everything was lovely except for my rather uncomfortable chair! The staff couldn't have taken better care of us, the food was delicious and beautifully presented.
Thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. Only criticism where we were sitting lacked in atmosphere and was on the chilled side.
The food and service were excellent and we enjoyed our visit.
Sadly service was slow despite restaurant being half full.
Food was Luke warm and two items needed to be sent back. They did deduct cost from the bill without us having to ask thankfully.
The shepherds pie was full of lumpy mince.
Would not return to this Ivy Brasserie.
Service poor, chips & peppercorn sauce came out late. Fillet steak tasteless.
Great first experience of an Ivy .Very impressed with the menu and great portion sizes
Wonderful ambience, excellent food and very attentive staff! What more do you need on a Monday evening?
Was very good food and nice environment and Daniel was helpful
Dress standards seem to have declined, not quite as special as earlier visits.
Lovely meal and nice ambiance
The wait for our drinks was very long and had to chase them up which I found unexpected due to the restaurant not being that busy.
I also had to complain about cleanliness of the toilets
Our first visit (for fairly obvious reasons) and overall it was very pleasant. Nice food, good wines and interesting cocktails. The canned music was slightly intrusive.
Very friendly and helpful service from all the staff we encountered. We had a delicious afternoon tea which was beautifully presented. Scones were delicious.
If we were to say what we would have liked to be different - maybe more savoury and fewer sweet things - the sweet things were delicious but very rich and sickly .
Made to feel welcome and special on our anniversary, we have been so many times and everything always on point.
A very nice place to have a celebration.
I have been several times & enjoyed myself immensely every time
Staff are very polite & helpful.
In fact it’s my favourite restaurant.
Have recommended it to many of my friends.
Great service, beautifully decorated dining area and food really nice.
Best food we found in Oxford places since February. Service very friendly, a bit inattentive though. Price compatible. All in all, excellent!
Lovely décor, restaurant looks lovely as you walk into it. We were seated on a banquette table under the air conditioning. Great to be cool but not when it is directly over your food which then goes cold within 5 minutes! My meal was lukewarm at best, the steak not the best I have ever had and at £25 for a sirloin, I was expecting better quality meat.
You pay for everything, main courses don't come with anything, our 'fries' came to £10 alone. Whilst I don't mind paying for a nice restaurant meal, we were underwhelmed by the whole experience and definitely felt we overpaid for what we had. We get a better quality meal at our local pub for half the price. The cocktails at £10+ each were not 'WOW', that looks amazing - The Ivy could take a leaf out of The Alchemist's book! We had been wanting to visit The Ivy for a long time and chose our wedding anniversary to do so and have to say, it wasn't the experience we were expecting. Staff all very nice and helpful but an 18.5% gratuity automatically added to the bill didn't help either, especially given the recent press about whether the staff actually get it or not.
Regrettably, will not be returning to The Ivy in a hurry and cannot honestly recommend to anyone on value for money alone.
Clearly one of the places to be ‘seen’ in Oxford - however it was not for me. Felt like we were on a conveyor belt from the moment we entered.
We arrived promptly at 8.25pm for our table at 8.30pm - ushered to sit at the bar as our table wasn’t ready.
2 glasses of still water plonked in front of us along with food & cocktail menu.
Feeling obliged & not knowing how long we would be required to wait we both ordered a cocktail.
Suddenly we were taken to our table before our cocktails had arrived.
The place was packed and very noisy - both in terms of customer chit chat and restaurant music - we had to lean forward across our table and shout at one another to be heard.
We continued on the efficient conveyor - ordering our starters & main courses - service was swift but impersonal.
Food was good & well presented.
A 10% service charge was automatically added to our bill - a pet peeve of mine as I was of the belief that ‘tips’ were discretionary - and given that we felt churned through the establishment the service wasn’t anything worthy of note.
Plenty of other places in Oxford that would rank above The Ivy in my top restaurants list!
Food and service were good. Far too loud music. We asked twice for it to be turned down. In a COVID environment it was not good that server had to lean over us to hear what we were saying with no mask. Did not feel comfortable.
We had the worst experience! Food was cold and we were rushed. Will not be coming back
Our evening was amazing.
Been to a few ivy’s now and the standard is soo high.
The service we received from May was outstanding she really is professional.
And soo smiley - nothing was too much.
Once again thank you Ivy soo much for a fab evening. You certainly didn’t disappoint xx 😘
Food and setting was brilliant. They were just too busy though to offer the quality service I’m used to there. Our main plates remained on the table for over 30 minutes after we had finished our meal and our bottle of wine was taken and placed and of our reach and our glasses not topped up. Staff did apologise and we got a complimentary glass of wine as a result but it’s such a shame as it’s tainted my thoughts a bit about the Ivy cafe now.
Food was ok but we’ve had far better for the same (high) price - we had three courses and only one alcoholic drink and our bill was £120!! Comes very quickly so gives impression that it’s pre-prepared/reheated. Wrong starter was delivered which caused wait for food and also issues with bill which took ages to resolve. Music so loud that waitress couldn’t hear us unless she leaned In very close - social distancing not followed. Very poor selection of beers. Seems to be a LOT of staff but the service still isn’t great. Don’t think we’ll be returning.
Fantastic service, fantastic food and lovely friendly staff.
Very good selection of food which focuses on combining flavours well. Food is not over complicated but tastes fresh. Although busy the service was very good and it was great having a live DJ as this lifted the atmosphere. Second visit to the Ivy in Oxford and would highly recommend.
Lovely food. Quite a wait between 'courses' and we didn't get our tea for a long time. Lovely afternoon tea though.
Good lunch, food was very good. Slightly perturbed to be told they couldn't fillet the lemon sole?? Upon checking was told they could do it after all, quite bizarre. Love the building and thoroughly enjoyed my day
We enjoyed our meal but had to wait quite a while to order drinks. The waitress seemed surprised that we wanted alcohol, it was a birthday celebration after all! One of our party ordered smoked salmon to start and was quite disappointed with the presentation. It was a slab of salmon on a glass plate with half a lemon in muslin as garnish. Not what she expected from a high class restaurant. Other than that we had a lovely time.
The food was enjoyed by all, it was outstanding. The service was very good, would have been outstanding if a couple of minor points had not occurred; drinks were spilt at the table by the waiter and incorrect cutlery served with steak. Otherwise waiter was attentive and very polite.
Toilets are fantastic but keep an eye on when bins need to be emptied.
We loved the decor and ambience of the restaurant. Overall we loved the experience, food and drink and will definitely come back to dine in the Ivy in Oxford.
On arrival, at Reception one of the girls didn’t seem very friendly or welcoming!
Plus I really think that staff should iron their clothes! It looks really bad. Some staff weren’t the usual smart well presented standard you see at other Ivy restaurants.
The food was excellent!
The Rum Baba needed to be soaked in rum previously and then additional rum offered.
One and a half hours wasn’t long enough before we were asked to move to the bar!
Eggs were not cooked FairPlay they replaced but second attempt worse so ruined meal and experience they did give meal free and complimentary coffee but that doesn't make up for a spoiled meal sadly
A bit apprehensive about using again went to
Following morning and it was perfection
The food was good but we were seated 25 minutes after the time we’d booked. We were asked to sit at the bar while they finished our table but were forgotten about and I had to ask a member of staff to check why we hadn’t been seated. There was a lot of staff working but little in the way of people in charge. A service charge added on as standard feels cheeky when the service is this bad
Great food, quite noisy and service could have been better
Beautiful decor with really professional friendly staff and the food was excellent a fantastic dining experience
Good experience, starter was nice and we were asked if we wanted more toast for the duck parfait.
My chips were only warm and steak was mediocre, I’ve had better.
My partner loved hers though.
