We had a really enjoyable meal at The Ivy - It’s not really a reflection of the brand as it used to be understated but I loved the decor and flamboyance! We enjoyed a late lunch and cocktails in the roof garden. Food and service were excellent. It is a little overpriced but expect that ice the novelty wears off will become a bit more sensible!
Food was great - well presented and of a good standard. Blackened cod was really tasty and chocolate bomb dessert was amazing. Service was poor - more staff than any restaurant I’ve ever been to - but none of them were actually serving the customers. Venue is very good tho and food was nice so makes up for the poor service.
Great visuals but the service let it down. Four times our drinks were forgotten and I asked for my meal without chilli but it came with chilli. My experience at the Ivy in Cheltenham was unbeatable so this let it down some what. I would still recommend however as it's a beautiful eating environment.
Great atmosphere, great food and friendly staff. Good early evening deal. only reason didn’t give it 5 stars across the board was because we sat down at 5:00pm and hadn’t been served our dessert by 7:00 and we had told them we were going to theatre. It was very busy But there were lots of staff around - just needs streamlining a bit. Loved it though and we will definitely be going back.
We went for my husbands birthday with another couple of friends. I was very happy with the food and the service was excellent, just the right level of attention. The men weren’t very impressed with the choices of beer available. My husband wanted pate to start but it had run out which he wasn’t pleased about. He had a steak which was perfectly cooked as he ordered but very salty! I mean really, even to me and I like salt. I told him to send it back but he wouldn’t for some reason known only to himself! The service was great and the wine very good, I’d say this is a special destination restaurant, and I loved the decor
Such a stunning decor, staff were so welcoming and super efficient. Everything ran seamlessly. Nothing was too much trouble and I was made to feel very special on my birthday x
A beautifully decorated restaurant , great service and tasty food !
The venue is stunning but a little over the top. If you want to be seen to be visiting the in place then this is the place to be. There are a lot of staff to look after you but basics like clean cutlery, bringing hot food out and forgetting to bring out a sauce that goes with the steak just made the whole visit poor. The food was nice but you can get the same in many other places without the pomp and ceremony. They place your bottle of wine or prosessco miles away from your table, so if you need a top up and the waitres doesn’t notice, you’re sitting at your table with an empty glass. We would have spent more money and time here is the service was better and the food was hot when it was bought to our table. Now that we’ve been once, I doubt we would return.
5 star food and drinks service was 1st class all at an affordable price. Enjoyed it!
We booked in the roof garden weeks ago. Table offered was right by the open bar area which has a door that doesn’t have an automatic return. It was freezing as the door kept being opened. We were moved to the next table which was only slightly less draughty. 3 of the dishes we wanted were out of stock! At 8.30? Service was v slow. We had to order bread, as one of our party was diabetic and we hadn’t expected to wait over an hour for our starter. Food was good. Coffee had to go back as it was cold. Fab decor, great toilets but def needs some tweaks to make it fab overall.
It looks great. Food was average. Staff were really nice and service was good.
Had a great time, beautiful dining in the roof top garden. Afternoon Tea a must.
Great concept and great food.
Some teething problems still not ironed out given it’s just opened. Lacked attention to detail on service standards.
Table booked at 20:15, we had just two courses and it was 11 by the time we were able to leave. Difficult to grab a server at times alto refill glasses from wine kept with others in a chill bucket away from our table. That said, staff super personable, the ambiance is second to non in Manchester on the roof top restaurant. Door quality and presentation very good. Prob just teething problems that will get ironed out.
Very enjoyable lunch. Great service. Lovely ambiance.
It lived up to every expectation 10/10 food 10/10 ambiance 10/10staff.
We really enjoyed our Ivy experience. Good choice of food at reasonable prices and very friendly and attentive staff. We ate on the 3rd floor in the roof garden ( with the roof closed as it was December) and we sat next to a fire pit which made it cosy. The atmosphere was pleasant and it was busy enough to make it feel lively. My only slight reservation is that the interior design is totally over the top. So many busy floral patterns on chairs and so much fake ivy and flowers. The ceiling and general decor in the ladies is hilarious! I fear it will date quite quickly and it borders on bad taste but it wouldn’t stop me going again very soon.
Stunning resteraunt, beautiful decor, friendly staff and delicious food.
Wonderful place to eat and drink definitely be back
Food was average. Service was poor. I had to keep waiting for the waiter to come over. Then he forgot the order several times. Double charged on 2 items on the bill. I normally doubt check so I wonder how many people they must do that to. After asking for correct bill they still had charged twice for an item! Shockingly poor service.
Very poor experience and not what I expected from a distinguished brand.
Booked a table for 8.30pm on Sunday and arrived early.. around 7.40pm. Receptionist lovely and sat us in the bar on the ground floor and enjoyed our first drink.. looked promising until we witnessed a rude supervisor being rude to a trainee which was totally uncalled for and I apologise to the trainee for the behaviour and told him no money is worth being treated that way!
Went to the rooftop to check in at 8.25pm.. seated at the bar whilst they got a table ready.. seated around 8.35pm.. waited until around 8.45pm to be taken an order for drinks and food.. still waiting at 9.25pm which was very long for booking a table for 8.30pm.
The seating area was directly with a fan behind and it kept blowing hot and cold.. again we witnessed rude and unfriendly behaviour between staff and we were again embarrassed for the trainee or younger member of staff.
Asked for the manager and told him we wanted to withdraw our order and leave as the whole experience was terrible and not what we expected and waited for. Very disappointing to say the least.
We then left to go and eat at a regular establishment we visit Tattu and were given the service we expected of The Ivy.
I hope they learn quickly that service is the experience and they need to up their game to survive in a competitive Manchester.
I have complained to the restaurant but received no reply, service is lacking to say the least
Given it has only just opened, I think I’ll have to go again to see if any improvements but overall it’s a good venue. The food was delicious and the best part...but the service was quite poor (took over 20 minutes to be asked for our drinks), some items were missing and took too long to be rectified (but we’re removed from the bill without question). The wine was ok, but Prosecco overpriced at over £40 a bottle (once you’ve added the 12.5% service on!) In terms of the venue itself, they need to reduce the number of open fires as it was far too warm inside (albeit acknowledging that the fires add to the “ambience”). There were also far too many tables, too close together and the wait staff/servers were effectively falling over each other at times! The tables are also very small given the size of the plates the food is served on...we struggled with a table laid for 6 even though only 5 of us were eating.
Went on Sunday had the most amazing time there, food, service, atmosphere etc...have already recommended The Ivy Roof Garden to my friends and family
Class experience Fab location
Good Service great menu... 👍🏻
Very impressive building, and the food and ambience was amazing. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit.
Beautiful building inside and out the service was great and staff were very helpful and always there.
The food on the rooftop was very reasonably price very nice cocktails too.
Superb staff with a can do attitude we will be sure to go back again soon.
The food was a bit fatty, but the staff quickly noticed and took it off the bill.
Really enjoyed it, we had a great night, although we thought a 12.5% service charge for only a group of five was excessive, so we only paid 10% on principle. The service was absolutely fine but it wasn't exceptional. The Ivy Gin was lovely and the the food was absolutely fine and we enjoyed it although, again, not exceptional. We really enjoyed our night and will be going back again.
The best restaurant in Manchester food fantastic
I’ve enjoy the Ivy Chelsea Garden; Manchester nowhere near.
Poor service; prior reaction to complaints. Just felt like a posh pub.
Absolutely beautiful venue! Can’t wait to return! 😍😍
Was pleasantly surprised after having reviews that weren’t so positive. Service was super - food arrived very fast and the whole experience was smooth. The Ivy in Manchester was definitely better than the London one, in my experience.
We enjoyed the place and the athmosphere. However, we had two wait for at least 20 minutes between starter and main and had two ask for an ashtray three times at the roof terrace only to be given a dirty one with somebody else’s cigarette buds...
Seated next to the entrance at the rooftop restaurant. Terrible spot, heavy footfall and music far too loud. Nice setting tastefully decorated. Food very average, £50 a head on average inc drinks. All four of us had different dishes and the feedback was the same. I would not rush to go back and eat , maybe new opening challenges. We expect better from such a respected chain with much higher quality. I foresee challenges ahead!
Was really excited having been to the York ivy. We waited for 20/25 mins for our table despite having booked when first able to book. it was quite a bit colder than expected on the roof terrace, we had a blanket as we asked for one, but when we asked for another it never arrived. There was a strong smell of fish through the staircases.
Lagers were on sale which were not on the menu and waiting staff didn’t know they were on offer it was only due to us seeing a bottle that we knew it was on sale there. Toilets were fabulously decorated - but pitch black inside as had no lights in the cubicles, had to use my torch to see where I was sitting. The chips appeared to be frozen cooked chips. Partners lamb was over cooked. They declined to cook steak medium-rare advising that they didn’t do this and it could be either or. The staff were pleasant. There was a lovely fire feature outside but it wasn’t lit and so just looked like it was dumped outside for no purpose. It’s a lovely building. I would encourage people try it themselves as often it’s sometimes an off time and it’s just opened. But I wouldn’t recommend or rush back
Great atmosphere and setting. Excellent food and service. Best meal in Manchester for a long time
Made us wait over 40 minutes for a table food very bland poor wine list much better places in Manchester to go
Loved everything about it, had a lovely lunch with friends
