Rob was excellent as was the food
I was treating my mum who was up from London. The initial table we were given was a bit snug but without saying anything the waitress realised and moved us to a much better table. Friendly and courteous staff throughout the whole of our time there. It was my 2nd visit to that particular restaurant and would highly recommend.
The best place in Manchester. Decor, staff - food - can’t wait to go again
Beautiful decor,Delicious food and excellent service from polite and friendly staff.Highly recommend.
Had afternoon tea. Some of the staff were very rude and unhelpful. It was very noisy and the table we were sat at was beside a large tree/plant so I struggled to see my friend on the other side of the table! Sandwiches were stale. Scones were nice but the dessert/cake element of the afternoon tea consisted of 2 minature desserts in teacups and a tiny tart- no actual cakes! Tart was flavourless. Sandwich flavours were good but very stale and not offered anymore. Far too much sweet to savoury but this is quite common with afternoon teas. Poor tea selection, no decaf tea available. The tea that was served was not hot enough and as such very weak. I wonder if it was made with hot water from a hot water tap rather than actual boiling water? Would not come back or recommend to a friend.
Extremely impressed, never been to the Ivy before and I can honestly say it exceeded our expectations. Going again in a couple of weeks with another couple.
Enjoyed the fancy dress from the bouncer nice touch
Really enjoyed my birthday treat. We will definitely return.
Perfect, from start to finish! Food was amazing. Will most definitely return.
Perfect for lunch as a treat for my parents. Staff were attentive and knowledgable giving us recommendations. Very pleasant restaurant to stay in for drinks afterwards.
Lovely ambulance lovely food slightly over priced but nice treat for the atmosphere lovely welcome at the restaurant at the desk in roof top very friendly and helpful young man . However leaving ivy door man was rude he clearly didn’t like his job looked and acted fed up we asked for a photo outside ivy as a keepsake and he just walk off saying no it offends me , which embarrassed me ? Not a great end to an otherwise great experience .
Great service, food excellent value. Lunch menu is really good value. The Ivy is a lovely restaurant to visit if you haven’t already done so
Lovely surrounding and nice food. However too many tables so felt as if our table was in the wayand we did comment that the chips were below standard as weren't as advertised (thick cut chips,). They were the left over scraps. No apology or anything. And too dark we couldn't read the menu.
Amazing food, staff very welcoming, quick service and overall great experience!
It is s nice experience going to the Roof top Restaurant. Lovely setting. Don't like service charge being added to the bill.
Was expecting a more sophisticated experience than the norm but it was anything but. Sadly it was like dining in a club. Noisy, poor lighting, packed in like sardines, lots of clashes with plants, furniture, waiting staff, table legs. Busy-over powering interior decoration, designers had thrown everything at it. A real mishmash of ideas with no real identity. Good food but a limited uninteresting menu. Huge disappointment. Staff tried very hard to their credit.
Second time I’ve been, and on both occasions the experience was fantastic. A bit pricey, but a great place to eat.
Amazing food, definitely worth every penny! Would 100% return.
Very quick drinks service and the food was amazing . Waitress very lovely and helpful
We booked the Ivy to celebrate my mums 70th birthday
We loved it the food was gorgeous and the staff were friendly and efficient
This was our second visit and as before it didnt disappoint. The food was excellent and the whole experience was made special by the helpfulness and attention of every member of the Ivy team.
Love this place but this was the 1st time we booked a table for 2.
The individual tables are too close to each other meaning absolutely no privacy whilst in conversation
Another lovely visit, my happy place. A treat for anyone! Back soon’
Once your meal has finished you get ignored! No service for additional drinks, then had to chance the bill! For what you pay would expect better service from a high level chain. Overall as usual food amazing.
Great food. Menu not over fussy and reasonably priced. The staff are excellent and make you feel very welcome.
The Ivy is an excellent place for tea and cake. For dining however I found it very disappointing. The food was reasonable but rather plain and bland and for this was overpriced. Considering the aesthetic of the restaurant I had expected a menu more in keeping with some grill-style classics - lemon sole, omlette arnold bennet, steak hache etc - but it was rather orthodox and not of the best quality. Perfectly acceptable but somewhat disappointing.
Disappointed this time round to be fair. Have dined at The Ivy on a number of occasions previously always mid-afternoon midweek when it’s been quieter.
Unfortunately on this occasion it was mid-afternoon on New Year’s Eve.
The welcome was lacking from previous experiences as was the general care and attention you expect at this restaurant.
As it was so packed (expected based on the date)...what was surprising to see was so many behind the scene kitchen trollies of plates, glasses - you name it being constantly wheeled back and forth beside you...never noticed it before and just shocked that the design of the restaurant appears so poor that this type of thing does not go on behind the scenes as happens in many other restaurants.
Similarly - being sat in what was used as a common thoroughfare was disappointing and ended up with you being constantly jostled by people walking back and forth to the bar space at the end of the restaurant past what was a small table space in the first place.
Very chaotic on arrival. Advised table on first come basis, however would appear lots of tables still empty and not a choice of where to sit when I had booked weeks ago. Waitress was absolutely lovely, polite & friendly however service was slow with drinks etc. Food was very good and reasonable value for money. Major complaint is that bins were being carried passed us for emptying and also back and too with buckets of drinks/bottles we presume to replenish the bar however, this is not nice for customers to watch going back and to whilst trying to enjoy their meal, especially the smelly bin. I have been a few times but this was my husbands first experience of the Ivy and he was disappointed due to the bin and drinks buckets, not what we would expect in the Ivy and this was supposed to be for a nice New Year’s Eve lunch.
Expensive, but worth it if you are looking to treat yourself. Exceptional service, waiters are very attentive
Excellent food in relaxed atmosphere. Made to feel relaxed as soon as we arrived.
Loved it. Yummy food and lovely waiter who made us feel comfortable but also funny
We ate here pre theatre and as our New Years Eve treat a day early! Thoroughly enjoyed it
Was a birthday meal but was not acknowledged by them -drinks very poor value for money very watery -coffee poor quality
Loved the atmosphere in the rooftop terrace. Great food & service- felt really special all decorated for Christmas too. Beautiful for a treat 👍🏼
Always good ,I come for lunch whenever I’m in Manchester ,the set menu is great value but I have eaten off the a la Carte as well and the food is lovely, our waitress recommended the chocolate brownie with caramalized bananas and it was delicious
No doubt the place is gorgeous. The roof top is beautifully decorated. Bathrooms are stunning. Food was generally really good save for a few exceptions. What was odd was the service. We had an excellent waitress but everyone else seemed to need a little polishing. We had three staff members having a small argument about who was in charge immediately next to our table while we were having dessert. This was while the dining room was more than half full. On the way to the bathroom there was again a small group of servers congregated blocking my way and no one moved until I actually asked, though they had seen e waiting before. We waited at the maitre d desk for almost 7 minutes to get our coats. Then when we asked for the mobile car machine to be brought we waited for quite some time. When I asked again, it seemed to annoy and the young lady was rather abrupt. Everyone at the table noticed.
Again, nothing that cannot be worked out with a bit of training and polishing.
What a super place, filled with oodles of real plants! Beautifully decorated with amazing wallpaper, especially in the ladies and on the staircase. Great choice of food, very generous portions and very tasty. Really friendly and efficient staff. Even a free coffee top up! Thanks
