We went here to finish off a lovely weekend, The restaurant and atmosphere was great, Food and wine was great. Only problem our waiter forgot to put our order in so we waited a very long time for our food, when it eventually came we were told we now couldn't order dessert. We complained so they agreed that we could. Our desserts arrived and not even halfway through we were told to hurry up as the restaurant was closing in 10 mins!! We couldn't finish and were virtually kicked out and it was their fault...!!! really not a great way to treat customers...!
For many reasons we had a very disappointing experience. At every stage of the meal we had to ask for service, ask if we could order drinks, try to grab our waiter's attention to order food, ask for dessert menus, pour our own wine... My main course never arrived. The rest of our party had finished their food - I had to go and physically find our waiter to ask where my food was. It eventually arrived, luke warm and with no apology.
Yes the restaurant was busy, but it was no excuse for the poor (complete lack of) service. And unfortunately it did affect the birthday celebration we had planned for my father. My missing main course was taken off the final bill (I had to ask for that to happen), but frankly that was poor compensation.
There were several out of stock items on the menu! The waiting staff seemed to be pushed to the limits. The food that we were able to order was very nice!
Unfortunately The Ivy Soho was not up to the same standard as other Ivy Brasserie’s we’ve visited.
Although the staff were very friendly the service was poor, inattentive and not what we’ve come to expect from The Ivy e.g very slow, finished plates left on table etc. Our starters were delicious but the main course , both different, were tasteless and disappointing. Finally we were also charged for an extra bottle of wine we didn’t have.
Very consistent in terms of food quality and ambience having been to a number of different outlets . Staff always polite and friendly . Feels like a special event . Would recommend
Second time here in two weeks with different people. Service a little slower this time (different waiter) but food was lovely and ambience perfect for a catch up with friends.
We had a breakfast booking at the Ivy and the whole experience was fabulous!
Great food and cocktails. Service is very good. But why do they keep the music so load . we cannot hear what the group says ( With only a group of 6 around the table)
Fantastic atmosphere, food and service were fab. A very enjoyable evening.
Really friendly staff and delicious food and a fun atmosphere.
Such a fantastic meal , service was excellent just could not fault it .
Amazing night, food was lovely but main course came out lukewarm.
Absolutely wonderful staff, made us feel very welcome. We were sat outside, but were very cosy with heaters and blankets!
A really lovely setting but the service was very slow. They forgot one of our sides and our water.
The food was very good but we were sitted at 4.30 and did not order our mains or receive bottle of red till 5.30. There was a bigger table that took our servers attention although there was some empty tables during the time we were there. Also my friend got her steak without the sauce so when it was put in place of us the server should have asked is that all? She quickly left so my friend had to wait until I got the attention of a nearby waiter to ask it still took another 10 mins for it to come in the meantime her dinner was getting cold. So service was poor really unlike the occasions I have been before.
Very enjoyable ………………………………………………………………….………………………….
Outstanding service, food & ambience
Would highly recommend a visit. We will definitely be back
Food and drinks were perfect, service initially a bit slow but fine after asking to be served.
DJ music a little but loud but certainly an energetic atmosphere!
Beautiful surroundings- great atmosphere.
Clearly lots of new staff, and a very busy lunch service.
Most were lovely given the pressure they were under, but I don’t expect eye rolling and comments under breath when asked to take a few glasses away!
It didn’t ruin our lunch but more training definitely required when staff don’t know what a hot toddy is!
I was disappointed by the attitude of most of the staff and the quality of the food. The service was very mechanical and impersonal and the food was obviously mass produced and dumped down in front of us. I will not be returning.
Order the yellow sole and and it was full of bones couldn’t eat a single bit of it. Then swapped for a black cod and it was Raw. Felt as if the staff didn’t want to help so overall a bad experience
Had a lovely dinner at the Ivy Brasserie in Soho. The food was really outstanding and although I think the prices have gone up - it was still really nice. The restaurant was beautiful decorated for Christmas so got you into the real festive spirit. Staff although very busy were all very kind and helpful.
Overall the food was very good and we had a good time, but the service let the overall experience down - see below;
1) it took ages to take our order including drinks (we seem to have been forgotten) and then it took ages for the drinks to arrive so we had only just got them when the starters arrived.
2) when the main courses arrived only 1 of 2 portions of veg arrived and only 1 of 3 portions of chips arrived. By the time the rest arrived we had almost finished.
3) overall we were served by 7 different waiters during the dinner which made it worse when asking for things i.e. we are missing something.
Such a shame as the food was actually very good. Items were removed from the bill but we would rather of had good service.
My friend and I had the best time! (We always do with the Ivy Collection). What impressed us a lot was our lovely waitress who was such a credit to you, I would say her name but I had a bottle of champagne and I can’t remember!
Well done team
Central London near theatres so good for pre-theatre. Good all-round choice.
Great atmosphere. Fab food. A really nice treat and experience.
My wife and I enjoyed our meal at The Ivy Soho very much. Service was good and the food was excellent. We always enjoy the general atmosphere and buzz of Soho and The Ivy certainly didn't disappoint. Very relaxed. Jeff Budd
We were stuck in a corner of the restaurant near the back near the till
Starters were ok but main courses - blackened cod, chewy and dry, Milanese chicken burnt around the edges and so hard I thought I was going to break a tooth. Then ordered the salted sourdough which was underwhelming
Service was incredibly slow and the wrong food was given to my guest.
Had to ask four members of staff for the bill, the restaurant was incredibly loud, the music volume was too high and could barely hear the friend sitting directly to my right.
Excellent food and service - however volume of the music was somewhat loud. Just needed turning down couple of notches so that dinner conversation could be heard easily.
We book here every year ,come to London for Xmas shopping then come here for meal before train home to Liverpool, would recommend this restaurant ,staff are attentive food is always good,a lovely yearly tradition for me and my 3 daughters
Food was great from the breakfast menu, though service was slow. When you book a table for a certain time, there is an expectation to be served shortly afterwards and to receive drinks and food soon after ordering
The Ivy is lovely for breakfast, a great choice for entertaining my client.
Sadly though what lets the venue down is the very slow service (something I've experienced before on multiple occasions in different locations).
The staff are friendly and polite however very slow and not very attentive.
For example, we were seated at 09:00 am, it took at least 10 minutes to be asked for our drinks order and then a further 15 minutes to receive our coffees.
Disappointing for the standards of the restaurant.
Very friendly waitress. Very helpful staff
When you walk into the restaurant, the ambience is great. Great overall vibe and a good looking spot for a date. The food is just generally pretty underwhelming. I’ve eaten at an Ivy before and the food was equally ‘meh’ then, so it wasn’t a surprise. The only surprise was how poor the service was. Before we had gotten half way through our starters, we had a waiter coming over to take our plates away (without asking if we were done!). The same happened with our mains. I feel that due to the popularity, they try to push people through as fast as possible. Good venue if you want to take some instagram pictures, but there are better restaurants to eat at.
Impeccable service from Daniel and Francesco, we were made to feel valued and welcome. The food was delicious, definitely will return on our next trip to London
My friends lunch ( who we were taking for her birthday) was cold. She ended up not having any lunch as it took so long we cancelled it. Our chips didn’t arrive until we had finished our meal.
2nd time I’ve had a bad experience in The Ivy !!
Our waitress was brilliant.
We really like this chain - always good food and atmosphere. Only negatives would be it is not quite the standards pre pandemic and the Albariño was disappointing.
Lovely staff, the cutest table. We loved every part of our dinner :)
Perfect setting, the food was brilliant and the service was exceptional. Even though the restaurant was full and extremely busy, we were never left to wait for long. Great place!
