I very much enjoyed the evening. The service was efficient and friendly without being intrusive. The whole experience was very special without being pretentious; Paul
Love the Arancini and fried zucchini starters and there is now also a vegetarian menu available. Great food and ambiance!
Phenomenal the best food and service , gorgeous decore
Me and my best friend had a booking for 1:30pm, and arrived at 1:40 after we informed the restaurant we were running slightly late.
They took our order 15 minutes after we sat down, brought our lovely peach iced teas in time, and after 20 minutes the starters - arancini (super duper!!!) and two lukewarm butternut squash soups. We sent the soups back as they were not warm at all (the bowl was tho lol), and after approx 25 minutes they brought the soups and they were lovely.
We waited almost 15 minutes with dirty plates, which were eventually cleaned up and we ordered more tea.
Fast forward 40 minutes later, our mains were nowhere to be found but every table in our proximity was getting their meals very quickly. We asked the waitress the ETA and there was clearly an issue in the kitchen. She was very apologetic and promised our mains would be with us in 2 minutes. The mains arrived 15 minutes later and the food was absolutely average to negligible. We were not hungry anymore so they cleaned the plates (very quickly this time) and we asked for the bill. The waitress assured us that their manager would sort something out as an apology.
5 minutes later the manager came and poured us bottled water (which was also £4.50) which we never asked!
When the bill came they had taken off our soups, side and arancini, but they charged us the extra water we never asked for. So we asked them to take it off the bill, paid straight away and left the restaurant at around 4:30pm, absolutely disappointed in the service and how it was all handled.
We’ve known the Ivy as a reputable restaurant chain and it had been so far until this experience.
Would not go back or recommend.
I’ve been to the Ivy many times previously in several different locations and it’s usually dependable. For starters the soufflé I had was very nice indeed, and the smoked salmon was smoked salmon. For mains we had the venison special roasted loin and lobster linguine. Venison looked a bit sad and dry when it turned up but was at least served with a jus. Broccoli on the side was more than al denté,and crunchy would be a better descriptor.
The lobster linguine I would unfortunately not recommend, it was very disappointing.
As always the bell epoque ambiance was very nice and service very timely and friendly.
Unfortunately, our side of sourdough was never arrived and then they gave us a different main, which we returned and so i had finished my meal before my husbands arrived. We would not go there again.
We waited nearly an hour for our table and were largely ignored by the staff. No-one apologised until I pointed out that no-one had said sorry.
Luckily once we sat down the service was great (if a bit slow) and the food was amazing so that rescued the experience.
Have never had these issues before and an apology or free drink would have made all the difference.
We booked a table for 8:45 but were not seated until 9:30. The waiter was slow taking our order and the food arrived late - we eventually left the restaurant at 11:30. It was explained this was due to a high volume of customers. As a customer, that’s not my problem. You shouldn’t take on more customers than you can handle.
Food was great , service was ok environement was lovely on a saturday night it was very busy and took a long time but when it came food lovely
Table was booked for 8.15pm and we were not seated until 9pm with no apology. Food was delicious and service was good although they did forget one of our side orders but it was soon sorted.
We arrived on time and waited 40 minutes for our booked table.
If we were this late we would have been charged per person. We stood in the way whilst watching others head to their booked tables. Drinks took ages to come and order.
Attended for my birthday, felt very well looked after and food was perfect very tasty and really enjoyed it! The restaurant has a really good vibe and would definitely go again, the only criticism I have is that the writing on the drinks menu is very small and I didn’t have my readers on so struggled to see especially with it being a dark lighting, so I will remember to take these next time and there will be a next time as I thoroughly enjoyed myself.
Took 40 mins to be seated despite booking a table which we did find annoying as we planned to drive home (2hrs) after meal. The staff were apologetic but didn't give us an estimate of wait time. Food however was fantastic. Really tasty. Would like to give it another try at a less busy time.
Will be writing to the IVY direct with a complaint
Much nicer than the Bristol ivy but still a tad overrated in my opinion. Service was slow, food was very good but not worth the money. I’ve been to other restaurants that have been much nicer/better service for half the cost. Feels like a glorified pub or Frankie and bennies.
Thank you so much. Attentive staff and superb food as always.
Lovely resturant for pre theatre meal with friends.
I’ve never had a bad experience in the Ivy but this time they were well short. We had to order drinks twice and they took 40mins to arrive, being brought after our starters. The waitress complained to us more than once that they were really busy - surely that is not an excuse you should be making to customers?! She didn’t bring the bill after we asked for it and then, when we asked for it again, denied that we’d asked for the bill the first time. We’ll be writing to complain to the Ivy directly. Food was good as always, but the service in McDonalds would have been better.
A late booking for a late lunch, but The Ivy Brasserie is always a good choice. Always consistent -you know what you're getting.
Service was very slow. Kept having to ask for service. Sent starter back as it was cold, when should have been hot. Waiter spilt a whole main course all over my daughters bag.
Seemed very chaotic. No real management.
Lovely spot for late afternoon lunch and cocktails!
As I expected. Great location, food, drinks, service all value for money in my opinion.
So glad we booked in advance , it was so buzzing ! We had a corner banquette , great people watching spot !
Our server was friendly and efficient , and sorted out a little issue very quickly , super impressed
I had cheese soufflé (OMG the best !) then a house burger
All in all a fantastic lunch and we’ll definitely be back next time we’re in town , thank you
A lovely lunch with my daughter, with great service
Excellent luncheon, was looking forward to our visit for a while and for my Fiancee's 40th Birthday she was really impressed.
Fab location for a pre theatre lunch. Really good selection of wines and cocktails. And a lovely menu. Makes for a perfect Saturday!
First time there with a great experience. Came there for brunch and the food was delicious!
A truly lovely time. Staff were all really nice and the venue is stunning. The food and cocktails were both lovely. Definitely going back.
We had a whistle stop visit as we were off to the theatre but would have liked to have stopped longer. Food was great, service excellent and atmosphere buzzing!
Wonderful as always. Lovely ambience and great service.
Lovely vibrant decor and atmosphere. Food delicious, but wish there were more vegetarian gluten free options, especially pasta.
Every 5-star rating was worthy in all aspects of a wonderful dining experience.
My visit was to celebrate my better half birthday with a morning breakfast/brunch and nothing was left unattained through the experience we received.
Amazing price for incredibly tasting food.
You could argue my choice of eggs and Salmon would be a standard taste and you'll get what you expect, but the plate that was presented to me was exceptional.
We were respected with time, no pressure was put on us to leave early which is always a refreshing feeling.
The ambience, the decor, the whole experience as a first-time diner to The Soho Ivy was a tattooed memory I'd like to share with others.
Thank you to all staff for making a birthday breakfast a brilliant one.
Lovely food and service great. It was breakfast so nice and quiet :-) Always a good venue for anything, business or personal.
I booked this restaurant at short notice for a Birthday celebration meal for my Wife, and we really enjoyed it, the staff were really good, the food was excellent and it was very reasonable priced. We will definitely go there again, and I will certainly recommend the restaurant to everyone.
We’d booked for a pre-theatre meal but arrived early, having run out of steam walking round the shops. We had a friendly welcome, offered drinks, then left alone to enjoy them as we’d said we weren’t ready to order, which was appreciated. Our meal of Shepherds Pie (my husband’s favourite) and the Venison special were both delicious. Staff were friendly, efficient and the restaurant looked clean and smart. Would definitely go back.
Really enjoyed the ambiene and quality of the service. Ambience in the rolm is great. Its all just really let down by the food which a shame. Menu is rally simple and appealing but my food was quite plasticky and sweet. For the price felt really cheaply made , almost store bought or packet baked
Different answers from different staff on what was gluten free. Not helpful when you have coeliac disease. Green veg hard and my friends chips were forgotten. Not as good as other Ivy restaurants
Really disappointed in this visit, usually everything is great.
But the service was very slow and lack-luster and they got the order wrong, this meant we ended up eating starters separately.
Really enjoyed, the service was very good, however maybe to keen to clear table between courses , but better that than under attentive.
Post Christmas, the Ivy Soho was very quiet. You would have thought this would have been a great opportunity to get exceptional service, and yet that was not the case. Empty glasses and other diners trying to get the attention of staff is not what I would expect of the Ivy chain. I wouldn’t re-visit and wouldn’t recommend for this reason alone as while the food was good enough, soho is full of better places.
