Great service, lovely food, was perfect for a family get together.
We had breakfast at the ivy. The service was very slow-which I don’t mind for the food but the drinks took forever to arrive! I had the croissant and it was a small, supermarket-esque croissant which was really disappointing given I paid £3+ for it!
I was very disappointed with my First visit and we will not rush back
The steak was over cooked but the waiter was excellent, replacing the dish immediately. The fish was also a little over cooked.
I have been to the Ivy on many occasions, but recently I am not sure what has happened with the food, on the last 2 or 3 occasions my party have all felt it is not very good and bearing in mind the cost of some of the main courses this is not acceptable. Both myself and a friend could not eat our Sea Bass as it was covered and drowned in a vegetable topping, so we left most of it. A good waiter would ask why? I mentioned to the waitress that it was not very nice, but she just shook her head - not good customer service. We have decided we are not going back now as thankfully there are lots of other options in St Albans!
I already have, eating twice with friends and recommended my son and daughter-in-Law for their wedding anniversary and everyone thought it was superb
Nice restaurant, food very good, attentive but not intrusive service, on the whole a pleasant ambience and experience.
Excellent service. We enjoyed the evening, except near the end when more people arrived that were shouting rather than speaking! Not the fault of the restaurant!
The Ivy brasserie is a really great business model and the food is really good. Service was just not up to scratch today. We come here a lot for lunch, and something was up today- we didn’t see the same waiter twice and had to ask for everything- drinks (twice), cutlery, sauces... we were left with dirty place settings until we eventually asked for our bill without even being offered dessert. Made the meal feel like such an effort.
Weren’t even asked the standard “was everything ok” when paying. We hope it’s a one off.
We were celebrating one of my sons 17th Birthday and were taking my other son with special needs along too. I requested a table by the door. When we arrived the staff seemed ready for us and were really kind and relaxed and we were given a table on the left hand side so it was a bit more away from the crowds. We were really well looked after, the food and service was great. The waiters and waitresses were really sweet and responded to my son with special needs as he likes the plates to be taken away once finished. My son who was 17th was given a birthday mini pudding. Very friendly, relaxed, kind with amazing food. The restaurant had a great feel about it. Made it a really nice event. Thank you.
Quick lunch with the lads. Good food as always
Absurdly gimmicky food. Absurdly over priced. The very lovely waitresses and musicians don’t make up for that. Not even close. Never again with a capital ‘N’. Not even for a free meal.
Lovely ambience, friendly staff. very good food. Would definitely recommend.
Our mains arrived when we hadn’t even finished our starters. The waitress wanted to bring out the mains regardless and said the food couldn’t be re-heated if we waited.
We couldn’t believe it. Wouldn’t recommend. Not worth the money.
Great food and menu however the menu is the same for both lunch and dinner. The service was terrible for drinks as well as food and staff seem a little distracted. Food is great when it comes but staff not trained for the impression The Ivy is trying to create.
great restaurant love the décor services and food is excellent
We made a booking only 2 hours before. The Manager was exceptional. We requested a larger table as we planned ordering several side dishes.
The steak was the most tender and flavoursome we have ever tasted! Highly recommend the Zucchini!
Staff were efficient and obviously trained to a high standard.
A very enjoyable Sunday lunch experience but just slightly noisy which cannot be helped when larger tables
Did not live up to my expectations in the slightest. Found the tables to be very close together so felt claustrophobic. Food average and inconsistent. Only thing to recommend it is the very courteous and friendly service. But it’s not enough when the food and privacy elements are not there.
This is the third time I have dined at the Ivy and I would certainly recommend it to everybody.
Fantastic! Lovely food, service was great. Will definitely be returning.
We had a nice evening but it was spoilt by overpricing.
My wife considered the afternoon tea, as potentially the best she has ever had.
First class service
Lovely restaurant, great cocktails and dessert. However two of us ordered the minute steak which was so tough I gave up on it, it was taking so much effort. Really not what I would expect for the Ivy! Another of our party had a burger that was distinctly average. On the whole over-priced and food not great.
Our main course arrived whilst we were still eating our zucchini starter all within 15 mins of arriving. My fish cake was delicious although the mushy peas were cold and when I asked the waiter if that was correct he said yes. He then advised they were meant to be cold but offered to have them heated up but they were still cold when the dish was returned.
Had a lovely late lunch with my daughter, had a lovely waitress Rasha, food was delicious, lovely presentation, nice and hot, the chicken Milanese was so tasty and fresh, my daughter enjoyed her burger. We always enjoy our meal at The Ivy, and they made a nice surprise with a little Birthday plate for my daughters celebrations. Many thanks.
Food and service excellent! Wine expensive but ok, just. Wednesday's have live music. Very loud, stifling normal conversation. Ok if you like modern jazz but not ok if that's not your musical taste. Would go again but not on music night. Also request a table away from one of the till points as it is a busy thourghafare.
Very enjoyable evening with live music and a lovely meal
Food was excellent and service was good.
Very noisy though, we were a party of six and found it ver difficult to hold a conversation, otherwise a very enjoyable experience, will visit again.
Expensive and not worth the cash you fork out for lunch
Full marks to the person responsible for training. Professional and faultless and that goes for the food too.
A lovely environment but if I am honest, the brand of The Ivy led me to expect better food that we received. It was OK but it was not the best considering the prices are a little on the higher side. Service and ambience were lovely. Would not rush back as there are plenty of other good choices in St Albans
Really nice waitresses who weren’t just going through the motions of serving, had personalities showing. Much appreciated anniversary desert. Steak was best I’ve ever had. Will be back!
Delicious food and amazing service as always! When my daughter’s needs are met, I’m always even more satisfied. All I did was say “I’ll ask for more Parmesan” and a lovely gentleman brought it over before I’d asked 😊 Thank you!
The restaurant itself was great and the service was good. I had the prawn cocktail to start which was delicious. I then ordered the chicken salad for main, it did lent look like a salad.... it had 3 big pieces of chicken with maybe a cube of avocado and some other strange veg but no actual lettuce. Not worth the price at all.
Fabulous food & service as always & great value! Highly recommend!
Great food for birthday and Bon voyage meal. The fish excellent & our vegetarian really enjoyed both starter & main course
Great atmosphere, friendly staff and excellent food
Excellent food and service. Enjoyed by the whole family.
Food good, although £30 for a fillet steak not much bigger than medallion was a bit much. Service exceptional. Only downfall was it was quite loud and struggled to hear what was being said between our party. Other than that all good. Would definitely visit again.
