Great atmosphere, bustling, lively and beautifully decorated. I love the relaxed feel of this place – like a comfortable dining room in a friends home. I have returned many times, zuchinni is just divine, but I must move on to some of the other starters, so many more dining opportunities for me and my friends. A beautiful evening spent ! (again), thank you to all the staff!
Great place for a business lunch - quiet, great service and lovely menu.
Excellent as you would expect from The Ivy. Service was very good and speedy.
I will be dining again very soon. Highly recommended.
Was good meal and been to the ivy in Covent Garden few times, wear we sat was right next to the till/serve/fridge really bad place to have a fridge when it was open it was about a foot away from me and must been open 20 times throughout our meal, my other half started was served my bread came 10 mins after either thou we asked for same time, my other half didn’t have a desert but ordered a coffee that took 20 mins after my desert arrived just seems all over the place and last thing you want when eating on a Sunday evening is people busting around you
It’s really nice.
A few things to note: The steak and fish pie weren’t as good as we hoped. It was a bit chilly- take a cardigan. Service was efficient but a tad brusque.
love the decor, food and staff all excellent. we find it comfortable and relaxed.
Brilliant! Nicest food of all Ivy Cafe I have visited.
It was our first visit to The Ivy, and we will definitely be returning. The food was great and the staff were brilliant. The waitress we had was lovely and she made us feel very comfortable and at ease. A lovely restaurant with a great team, serving great food. Already looking forward to coming back.
Lovely Date night with my husband
Amazing food, great service! Definitely recommend
Beautiful! Treat for a friends 60’th birthday. The food was lovely and plentiful. The staff were friendly and attentive but didn’t hover. An enjoyable experience.
We wanted afternoon tea but that didn’t start until 3pm. This wasn’t that clear on the website. Even though it was 2pm we could only order from the brunch menu and this limited the options. I ended up having eggs benedict which didn’t quite fit the time of day. I find The Ivy poor value for money. £86, brunch for two, is excessive
Another pleasant lunch at The Ivy St Albans. Fantastic decor, excellent service and good food. One of our favourite places to dine.
The atmosphere was very good and the young man waiting on table was excellent.
Extremely attentive and had a great attitude and personality.
We had a good table near the private room and enjoyed our meal very much.
My daughters 16th Birthday and everything was perfect. We had an exceptional waitress that made some great recommendations.
Service was very slow because of inadequate staffing level,Our waiter was very attentive when the food finally came.I had the salmon and honestly it was an inadequate portion I was still hungry. The apple tart was cold, which I was not expecting, this despite the hot calvados.I will only recommend this place because of the ambiance and because the salmon was well cooked what there was of it.I trust you will review the portions. One of my guests had the soup and didn’t like it so left most of it.A good restaurant would enquirer why.
Tasty food, well presented. Comfortable seating. Attentive service. Couldn’t ask for more. Well done!
Lovely decor, excellent service and great ambiance. No annoying musak. Food is very good not cheap but worth it. No feeling of being hurried or hassled. We asked for tap water which was service with courteousy.
Happy to go again.
Excellent service, great menu, lovely ambience. Will definitely return.
Very good enjoyed our meal our waiter was excellent.
Very good food this visit. Not always this good but our starter could have been hotter.
Seemed a bit short staffed but everyone very friendly.
I was very disappointed in my recent visit
Sat next to a very noisy table when the other half of the restaurant was empty
Slow service- some time before plates were cleared
Original drinks ordered at bar- not all arrived
Husbands meal disappointing
Kids meal expensive
The truffle arrancini balls and jackfruit dish was very good
We enjoyed a delicious meal at The Ivy recently, the restaurant also had a good atmosphere and the service was friendly and professional.
We started with the tempura prawns and the duck liver parfait, both very nice and good portions. For mains we had salmon and the monkfish curry, both were delicious. We ended with the chocolate bombe that melts with the sauce, lovely way to finish off. Overall a great experience.
Great food, great service. Will be going back! A thoroughly enjoyable evening
Good overall but rather rushed. The starters came while we were halfway through pre-dinner drinks and the main course followed hot on the heels of the starter. Our wine cooler was away from the table so we had to ask for refills. The noise level meant you could only hear the base notes of the Muzak - bit like living next to a teenager! It would be better to get rid of it completely. However food was good and apart from wine so was service quality.
This was my second visit to the Ivy in St Albans and now will be number two of many. Everything was perfect from beginning to end. The service was wonderful and the food absolutely amazing, now planning to book afternoon tea very soon
Lovely atmosphere with nice Saturday afternoon buzz. Our waitress was lovely. Nothing was to much trouble. So polite and friendly. The zucchini fritters were amazing. Ate to many to start which meant left half my main. But they were so addictive. Lovely little dessert tart for my birthday which was a lovely touch. A really lovely and enjoyable experience. Cant wait to go back soon.
Having booked for 11.00am breakfast, and arriving promptly, our party of 4 was very surprised to be told that breakfast on Saturday was no longer being served. It is only served up to 11.30 M-F, which seems odd. A leisurely breakfast at the weekend is pretty normal I would think. The kitchen would not be persuaded to extend the breakfast provision, nor would they make an omelette for one of our party. Those of us that ordered poached eggs with avocado were served lukewarm inedible eggs with avocado that was so cold it lost all flavour. The service was indifferent and the waiter didn’t manage a smile for the duration. My experience of The Ivy in other locations has been positive but the St A branch regularly fails on good service. It’s always slow and lacklustre. I’ve given the restaurant 4rd and 5th chances but won’t be going back
Beautiful decor, amazing service, delicious food! The fish and chips was perfect!
I am a regular @ The Ivy St Albans. The staff are always extremely attentive - the menu is varied and offers a wide choice. It was my friends birthday and they served her a little cake with our second coffee (which incedentally was free of charge) I love it there
For my mothers Birthday, we took her out for a special dinner but unfortunately this was not the case. The evening was essentially ruined by below average service, simple mistakes and poor main courses. First off after ordering a bottle of wine, we received a glass of wine which was an acceptable mistake but as the night went on the communication of the staff was rather poor between themselves. As at times our glasses were left empty as one waiter stored the bottle of Rose in a fridge for us, which was nice but when that is the case, our glasses should be refilled by them. Not by us waiting around and finally catching a waiter asking for some more wine from the bottle. Furthermore, the main course that two of us ordered, the Chicken Milanese was rather disappointing for the high standards we have for the Ivy. First of all both of the courses were missing some of the ingredients, the Pesto and the Parmesan cheese which are rather key ingredients the chef forgot to add. Aswell as this, the salad was on top of the chicken, which most chefs would realise that it makes the chicken soggy which slightly ruined the chicken. But despite these issues, we were offered a discounted bill and free desserts, the latter we did not want as the night had been tainted and preferred to end the meal sooner rather than later in case of any more mishaps. We would still recommend as this is surely a one off with a new chef and floor staff who were not well acquainted, and our other food was lovely, but just on this occasion we were let down a bit as we expected the high standards that we usually receive.
Wonderful evening with our grandson and his girlfriend, we all enjoyed our meals and the wine
Beautiful surroundings, attentive staff, delicious food with a great choice. Thoroughly enjoyed by all. Many thanks
Te food and ambience make this a great experience. The staff deliver attentive service and positive energy making every occasion a special occasion. Try the Blackened Cod - it's devine!
Good position, clean fresh food, elegantly done, good service as well
We had a lovely evening to round off my daughter’s hen weekend. First visit and very impressed. Helpful and friendly staff, great food and a lovely atmosphere. I enjoyed the space.
Food and service are very good. Tables are a bit close to each other and there was a very noisy table nearby. Wine list not that extensive - would like to see more variety - and quite pricey although what we had was good.
I booked The Ivy Brasserie St Albans for afternoon tea to celebrate my daughter’s birthday. It was a quiet Sunday late afternoon. I had let them know in advance and they were very sweet wishing her a happy birthday on arrival as well as bringing a mini cheesecake with a candle on top at the end totally unexpectedly. Staff were attentive whilst being unobtrusive, smiling as they walked past and checking on us once in a while. Adjustments to the menu to cater for vegetarian preference were made smoothly and efficiently. I would strongly recommend.
Loved it. I will be back. Although there should be vegetarian options, luckily I eat fish.
