Loved it! A great welcome back after being absent for so long from The Ivy and of course, everywhere! The food and service were terrific (Yannis was a delight) and the bonus was the buzzy atmosphere. Everyone was out to enjoy themselves.
A lovely tea. Portions were not over generous but the flavours were good. The sandwiches were average but the truffled chicken brioche roll was lovely. The desserts / sweets were beautifully presented and tasted delicious. Often the mini cakes in an afternoon tea are not particularly special - the summer garden desserts were in a league of their own.
Great food and service, lovely setting, Paulo was such a great host.
Yannis our waiter was very knowledgable and entertaining.
Great food and service.
Desert was a dream come true
We will be back 😌
Food was fantastic and the service was impeccable.
Excellent food and service. Always enjoy eating here. It is always consistently good. Great atmosphere.
Friendly, attentive service. Food good and portions generous.
First impressions count after arriving noone was present at the foyer, all other waiting staff/bar staff totally ignored us so we were unsure how to check in.
Good Sunday lunch, if a bit rushed.
Nice food but quite expensive. Service is excellent
Booked for the first time for a special birthday and we were so impressed. Food was amazing, service was smooth and quick and the price was very reasonable for the quality and amount.
Will be recommending to all and definitely plan to back soon
The Ivy St Albans is a class act - a warm welcome, tasteful decor, buzzy atmosphere, extensive menu, delicious food, perfect service and delightful staff. Not much more I can add really!
Such a lovely evening and the food is just amazing! Staff all so kind and lovely thank you so much for a lovely time! 🙂
Good to return after the lockdown , food quality and service both excellent.
Only down side for us is the lack of any inspirational desserts !
Better than ever! Menu and food amazing as always and great champagnes to celebrate a friends success
As always the Ivy lived up to are expectations as it always does food great service brilliant every time we go it is great wether it is for lunch or dinner.
Absolutely lovely meal with my friends for my birthday. We were fortunate enough to be sat in a section of the restaurant where we were the only diners so it was nice and quiet and away from the busy main restaurant. The service from all who served us was excellent. The food was amazing - couldn’t fault it! Most definitely will be returning
We had a fantastic visit, the food was great - we all ordered different starters, mains and deserts and every item was delicious and had a nice twist to it. The service was very good, they were able to give us a little longer at our table than expected which was appreciated. We will definitely be back.
I really appreciate the fact that I was able to have my back to a wall as it was quite noisy and I’m deaf. Love your food but my chicken salad was disappointing. You had used Little Gem lettuce but I was given the outside leaves and they were so tatty round the edges. Would have preferred some inside leaves Lao the chicken as really dry and tough but my waiter was really kind and understanding and changed my dish with tang fuss. Had the Curry absolutely delicious
Excellent food and service will definately re visit next time in st albans
It was like an expensive Zizzi. The food quality was poor.
Our waiter was friendly and professional.
I felt uncomfortable due to the fact that waiters were not wearing masks and there were no measures to prevent the virus spreading around.
Absolutely fantastic service, fabulous food and a great ambiance. Our waiter was amazing so shoutout to Lorenzo - the best waiter by far. Nice to go to a restaurant with traditional service values - can’t wait to go back.
Love chicken Milanese and squid starter. Cocktails also very nice
Lovely place great ambiance, the service was quick quick then slow slow. Either filing your wine glass every 2 mins and then leaving you for half an hour with nothing. The food and drink was good and reasonably priced, we would return but hope their service becomes more consistent
Great service. Lovely food, lots of it! The Zucchini Frittis' were fabulous as was the G&T special :)
Not our best dining experience in contrast to a very good experience recently at The Ivy, Norwich
Cold draft at our table from the door. The Maitre'D needed to turn heating on to overcome this. Ordered 2 Champagne Belinis but received Prosecco Belinis and that was after having checked twice that they were made with Champagne. Had to return our Cheese Soufflé starters as they were not hot. Requested Veal Rib Eye to be served "pink" but both were served well done.
Service was good
Second time visiting this restaurant. Excellent. I mentioned , just in passing, that we would have come back in May to celebrate my husbands birthday. They then surprised us with a free dessert with a candle! Would definitely go again. Great menu. Sensibly sized portions. Our server, Lorenzo, was fantastic
Beautiful place to eat. Staff are very professional and friendly. Food was excellent. Will definitely visit again
Great atmosphere, food and service. Best place to eat in St Albans.
Good overall but not as good as any of the other Ivy restaurants I have dined in
Should not have been charged one of the sides, said they were too burnt and got replaced with more just the same!
Delicious food - imaginatively presented - in a cool (wonderful air conditioning on the hottest day of the year) but obviously popular setting despite lingering concern for virus transmission ie plenty of happy diners with enough distance between tables to keep the most terrified (who shouldn’t be out anyway?) safe! An absolute joy and when in St Albans in the future I will never eat anywhere else ; thank you.
Lovely staff! Lovely food, great value for money. Will come back again
We have been to the Ivy on several occasions and have never had cause to complain. Last night however was a different matter. I chose the sirloin steak and what a mistake that was. While we were waiting for the meal the waiter came to the table and said the chef had prepared my steak but wasn’t happy with it so was cooking another. When it finally arrived, supposedly medium,I couldn’t cut it easily, tasteless, grisly and altogether
terrible. I did complain and they gave us one dessert free. I recommend The Ivy to everyone, but I’m afraid I won’t be doing it again. Perhaps this was a one off but it did
put a downer on the evening having such high expectations..
Great options for vegetarians and vegans, great options of cocktails and mocktails, options for all.
We were well received by all staff. Ambiance was excellent and we shall return. Food very good and all in all we have recommended the restaurant to a number of friends.
Cocktails were excellent. Service attentive. Food was good but scallops arrived cold so we didn’t eat together. Manager did deduct from bill. Overall felt bit expensive for what it was.
What a great find in St Albans - food and drinks were incredible. Service was top notch and the decor was beautiful.
