The Ivy St. Helen’s Square
We have been to The Ivy before and always enjoyed the food and the experience. This time I think we were there on one of the last nights before everything shut down and so it was quiet, but the food and service were excellent as always!
Took my mum for her 70th birthday meal. Very impressed with the food and service we received. Would definitely visit again
Asked for the steak to be cooked blue, it came medium, and member of the party asked for it to be cooked medium rare his was well done, we didn't say anything as theres nothing worse than half the table sat eating their food while the other half is sat waiting, not a big deal when I'm in a standard restaurant but I expect a lot better from the ivy and at their prices. The service was amazing, as expected.
Amazing food , lovely atmosphere , my steak was cooked to perfection. Would highly recommend a visit
Nice food and well presented but despite receiving reminders of booking, when we arrived they had no booking and front of house almost implied I’d made a mistake until I showed them the reminder.
Great food, great service, great prices.
Amazing food, great service and a fantastic experience as well as a little gesture for desert for mine and my girlfriends anniversary :)
The food was good. The atmosphere was lively but it was a bit too noisy for me. The service was friendly and efficient but a bit slow.
Great evening at the Ivy great atmosphere and great service.
Food was amazing, table was ready when we arrived. Drinks expensive but we did expect this
Afternoon tea was beautiful for my mums 60th birthday. Service was brilliant as always x
Wine very overpriced, and extra charge for veg. But saying that, it is a nice place to dine
First visit to the Ivy in York on Saturday and we are looking forward to going there again soon,
This is the 2nd time I’ve eaten at The Ivy in the last month. On both occasions the food and service has been excellent. I would highly recommend.
My birthday treat with 3 friends, very nice food & service was lovely.
Will definitely return & recommending
It to my friends. Thank you Ivy.!!!!!
Lovely lunch very nice Service and would highly recommended we had the set lunch Menu which was Excellent Value for Money
Not as expected. Service very good, but food quality on a very low level and far from good value for money. The bill came to £200 for two and for that kind of money I would expect to be below away with food quality and presentation.
We will not be rushing back anytime soon, sorry.
It was a fantastic experience. The food and service were excellent.
The food was wonderful but the service was atrocious. However, I made a complaint and a round of drinks was taken off the bill, so we were satisfied.
The food was excellent as you would expect and the restaurant is beautiful. We were a little disappointed with the service - they forgot about our wine, (they take it away to keep it cool in a cooler, we assumed it was finished until they remembered by which time we had sat with with empty glasses for a while), I had to wander round the restaurant to find a member of staff to ask for coffee and then again to get the bill - the staff were all stood chatting, out of sight, at the bar. The restaurant was a third full on a Wednesday afternoon so the staff were certainly not busy! The food and ambience is too good to not go back but given the reputation of The Ivy and past experiences there, the poor quality of the service was as surprising as it was disappointing.
I love the York Ivy, it is my regular haunt as I live within the locality. The decor, the ambience, the food and the service, are nearly always top notch. Varied interesting menu. Plus, they stock a wonderful NZ Sauvignon Blanc - Craggy Range. Delicious!!
This experience felt a little rushed, wed booked for brunch, arrived at 10.45am and by 11.10am we’d eaten our food,
Paying £60 for brunch and celebrating a birthday as detailed at booking we were hoping that our visit would be relaxed not rushed so we could enjoy the experience.
Previously visiting Manchester ivy for brunch we were taken to bar area before being seated at our table so that we could enjoy drinks before our food. Which was a nice way to start our meal.
Food was delicious, attentive and helpful waitress.
We visited the restaurant Monday 10th March celebrating my mother's birthday. The whole experience was fantastic and our waitress was very good. The food was really enjoyable and very well presented, I was more surprised of the value for such great food. I have dined at many places paid more money and the food was so poor.
I would recommend this restaurant to everyone who is visiting York. We will definitely return.
Excellent.. warm and friendly welcome..yummie breakfast and very attentive. Thank u for a lovely morning
Excellent food and service, as always. The jackfruit bang bang salad is worth trying. Don't miss the old (or faux-old?) prints of insects and other animals along the staircase to the bathrooms.
Great service, lovely decor and the food was delicious especially the chocolate bombe 😋
The service was good the food was poor for the price you pay you expect the steak to be cooked the way you ask
Gorgeous food, amazing service. The Ivy is a stunning place to eat with a lovely atmosphere and staff who pay attention to detail.
4 of us went before the theatre although they don’t have a pre theatre menu at the weekend. Our table was central and the restaurant had a nice ambiance, lovely decor.
Food was tasty bistro style food, nicely presented. Price for cocktail, glass of wine starter main and a coffee £50pp. Overall a good experience would go again.
Good choice on menu, very busy on Saturday but staff very accommodating and polite.
Price high but good quality and anticipated as previously visited
I am gluten free so choosing from the menu was difficult as I had to rely on the waitress information. It would be better to have a menu printed. Although I was pleased not to have been brought an allergen folder.
However when they bought the meal it was obvious that my chips had been cooked separately to my friends - I do prefer a clear allergy notification on the meal.
The Strawberry sundae was disappointing- blob of ice cream with a few meringue pieces. Thankfully they remembered to not put any shortbread on.
They need to do more for gluten free bread buns
Prices are expensive per portion but I guess it depends on what you are eating
The atmosphere and food is excellent. The wine waiter was not attentive enough and we had to wait too long for our main course. The bill was also incorrect.
Lovely venue, good food, friendly and attentive staff. Only slight negative was we both had steak and they got the cooking style the wrong way around but still delicious food.
Excellent table service and food. Was very busy on arrival around the bar area waiting for table however we had a great time and afternoon tea.
Champagne afternoon tea was excellent and the place was buzzing with more waiting to be seated. This said we were not rushed in any way. It's a lovely venue for special occasions.
First class service from the moment we arrived at the door.. bar service first class then an excellent table with great food and service. We thought the bar drinks quite pricey otherwise everything first glass.
We had the most awesome time here on Friday evening. The food was outstanding, and the service was second to none! No qualms about recommending The Ivy York!! Thank you for an amazing experience.
Great restaurant - fantastic service - great food - beautiful surroundings.
We (two) ate the set menu as a pre-theatre supper.
Choice was quite limited but adequate even given our dietary restrictions.
Service was OK but we did note staff standing chatting to one another with their backs to the tables instead of keeping an eye open for customers' requests.
Quality of the food was very good. Price good but there was a 12 1/2 % service charge added. We would have preferred to decide for ourselves. a two course set meal took just over an hour from start to finish.
We had the set 3 course menu for £21 and found it excellent value for money. The food and service were first class.
