The Ivy St. Helen’s Square
Fantastic as always
Excellent definitely my favourite restaurant in York. I live near Manchester so I will be visiting very soon
Was she head waiter? Not sure but she most definitely was attentive, assertive and confident.
The atmosphere was lovely and food too
Spent £275 with you in total, for four of us! and considering this ..
Thought the £30 service charge was a little too much to swallow.
All in all, a little pricey as not all of us had three courses but service, ambience and food excellent
Excellent menu with lots of variety and choice of lovely food.
Main course took ages and was only warm
Asked for the bill twice
Lovely food and aervice
Wine was excellent and the atmosphere brilliant, I would love to go again
Not the best restaurant in York so not given 5 stars, tables close together so conversations could easily be heard from table to table, waiting staff very attentive and polite, food was good and delivered reasonably quickly. The decor was different, not to everyone’s taste but the washrooms are very plush. All in all it was a pleasant visit
Go to Leeds nicer interior and staff are a lot more attentive don’t waste your money, there are much nicer places to eat in York, was not impressed at all I think the staff let the place down which is such a shame.
An overall enjoyable experience. The food was very good and the service was excellent. The restaurant was busy which provided a good atmosphere, although it is a bit cramped in parts with some tables right on top of each other preventing any private conversations. Will return.
Our waitress was brilliant & worked valiantly with little help from her colleagues in the kitchen who took about fifty minutes to produce our starters, in spite of repeated urging. The manager finally appeared to apologise & offer us the starters for free but, by then, the experience had been ruined. The food was ok but nothing special & the menu not very imaginative (my first choice was not available either). Prices are extortionate relative to the quality - we won’t be going to the Ivy (anywhere) again.
Amazing service and the food was outstanding. We highly recommend The Ivy and we will be back. All the staff were attentive and professional.
Fantastic! Still talking about my meal days later
HAd a lovely birthday meal. Service from the lady who's name we didn't get unfortunately was exceptional. Although we had to wait in between courses longer than I would normally expect it didn't hinder the evenings experience. The food was superb-no complaints there!
I always look forward to my visits to The Ivy York. I’m never disappointed as it is always a great experience. Great food, ambience and excellent service as ever.
Tables a bit close together, but food was very nice.
Lovely place with nice atmosphere pleasant staff and very efficient manager however the food quality did not match the value and could not believe to pay for frozen chips ! Really . On arrival the door staff were very friendly and welcoming. We were shown to our table which was so close to the next table and had to squeeze to get into my seat. There were lots of empty tables and couldn’t understand why there were 4 tables sat together especially all couples .
Lovely meal, disappointed with the lamb main course as the lamb was very tough in fact I could eat it!! Very unusual for the Ivy standard.
Enjoyed an excellent meal. Service was excellent. Lovely to be waited on and made to feel special. Would highly recommend.
We had a great time at The Ivy. Glad we booked as it was packed on a Tuesday evening. Top quality service. Attentive, friendly and relaxed. Helpful recommendations. Worth the 12.5% service charge. The decor and ambience is terrific. Take a trip to the loo if only for a sneaky peak at the private dining room upstairs. And the food was wonderful. Plenty of choice and all very special. Definitely a special occasion venue for us but I’m already looking forward to next time.
A wonderful experience for my Wife’s 70th birthday celebration.
I would add that I do not understand why you asked with the booking if it was a special occasion but not acknowledge it on the evening.
Excellent service, with good knowledge of food and wine.
Lovely meal, it felt like a treat.
I will definitely return
Absolutely first class food. Service was exceptionally accommodating and friendly given our specific requests.
As always excellent food and service!
Great atmosphere, a real treat.
Would highly recommend.
Good food. Excellent sirloin steak. Service was the great. Very professional and nothing was too much trouble.
Think the service charge for 2 persons dining should not be automatically added to the bill
We had a delicious Afternoon Tea here on a Saturday, the restaurant was busy and so we were seated at the bar for 10 minutes until our booked table was ready - but from the moment we arrived we were very well looked after.
Once we were seated, our table service was excellent. Food was scrumptious.
The only niggle I had was we were kept waiting for our bill and had to attract another waiters attention to ask for it.
The restaurant is very pretty, and a lovely atmosphere. Highly recommend.
Lovely meal and cocktails in the Ivy. Never disappointed us!
For a chain restaurant the prices were far too high. The service and food were good - but not good enough to warrant the prices. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone at these prices.
good service and food ,however tables very close together and the 12.5% service charge a bit steep.
This is the third Ivy restaurant I have dined at and as with the others, this place is just perfect! Can't wait to return. The Chocolate Bombe is a must!
An 80th birthday occasion lovely meal but tucked away in s corner away from the ambience
A fabulous birthday treat. Each course surpassed the last. Our waiter was wonderful; attentive yet discreet. Thank you. 💐
We enjoyed the dining experience and the raspberry eaton mess was amazing. Sure it's fairly expensive but for a treat its nice. One only gripe was I prefer to tip on my own terms. A set 12 pound gratuities rate was a little cheeky.
Booked for Afternoon Tea, birthday celebration. Travelling from Cambridge & York.
Loved it ! Staff attentive and friendly.. food scrummy ! sandwich s delicious, great selection of cakes and of course the Cream tea. We upgraded to have Champagne too.
..would do it again in a heart beat.
Beautiful place. Good breakfast selection. Service excellent, very friendly and polite staff. Very enjoyable visit
The Ivy champagne afternoon tea was bought as a gift for us.
It’s a nice place to visit as a special treat but do expect some overpriced added extras to your bill.
Charging £3.60 for a bottle of water and a unexpected service charge of £7.95 automatically added to you bill.
The food was nice but small portions for the price and the tea was very pale & weak in strength.
Overall If you were in York and thinking of going for an afternoon tea I would go next door to Betty’s for their afternoon tea where the tea is stronger, a proper cup of Yorkshire tea.
I have been many times and this visit was extremely enjoyable as always.
The staff that were working were absolutely amazing, I apologise for not catching their names however there was a man and a blonde woman who were absolutely amazing, it was my mums 50th and she thoroughly enjoyed her first visit to the Ivy and your staff made it very special for her, bringing out a happy birthday tart. The food was amazing and it was great value for money as I thought it would’ve been much more expensive. I think for other birthdays we will definitely be making our way back to the ivy for breakfast again
First visit, for our Anniversary. Lovely food and great service made for a wonderful evening. We will definitely return.
Lovely time at The Ivy in York. Went there with my sister for late lunch/early tea and couldn't fault it.
Both had the monkfish and prawn curry which was really lovely. Wine good too.
