The Ivy St. Helen’s Square
Really love everything about this restaurant. Service impeccable and very friendly, decor beautiful and tasteful and food extremely good and reasonably priced. Thank you
We had a delicious meal. The monk fish and prawn curry is very tasty! Great service too!
My husband and I enjoyed a fabulous brunch yesterday when visiting York. Staff were attentive, friendly and very professional. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced. Fabulous ambiance and lovely relaxing music playing in the background. We will definitely return.
Great atmosphere and food . Service lovely too .
Really enjoyed the experience, however I have a dairy allergy, unfortunately there appeared little on the menu for someone like myself. However they did say they could alter a dish, but I felt with out a sauce it would have being tasteless.
I decided to have the salmon, which was lovely.
If I was to book again would it be to my advantage to phone before to inform you, and more dishes could be made available.
Excellent anniversary meal. Beautiful restaurant and great service.
I had taken my mum away for a weekend in York and The Ivy was the nicest meal we had. Lovely atmosphere, waitress very attentive and helpful and the food was delicious. I definitely recommend this restaurant.
Been to the Ivy in Manchester and knocks spots off this one. Our Waitress was Friendly but a very standoffish vibe. Hostess staff quite snooty.
The Ivy’s serive was excellent and food was gorgeous. Would highly recommend it.
Expected more from a restaurant of this level and reputation. The service was slow (breakfast) and lazy (the milk and sugar didn’t arrive at the same time as our Americano, at least five minutes later. The plates were too small and oddly shaped, tricky to cut into toast and bacon on a small oval plate.
The waitress had to print our bill three times as it was wrong - the initial bill was £30 more than it should have been.
Won’t particlalry visit again.
Fantastic breakfast served in a beautiful tasteful setting, accompanied by outstanding table service.
We had an absolutely wonderful evening. Everything was really great.
Thank you to all the staff, so polite, professional and timely.
This is my second visit and the food was as good as the first time .
The place was packed great ambience , buzzy vibe , fantastic decor really the only top restaurant in York , that said it was hard to hear my fellow diner the music should have been turned off . It just added to the background noise and was annoying . However I will always come back fantastic service and great location too .
We had a lovely meal at the Ivy, my husband is Coeliac and there were plenty of choices for him and they seem very aware of cross contamination explaining that the chips were cooked in a separate fryer. The service was just right and the atmosphere was great. Would definitely eat here again.
Great food, amazing service, great location but 3 courses in 70 mins a bit rapid, although I hate really slow service so on balance with lots of bars locally to go on it it was great for us as a couple, had it been a group meal we’d have wanted longer to enjoy it.
Good exquisite Service and staff brilliant. Not cheap but worth it
Did not really acknowledge my birthday. Couple behind were given a little cake and candle. As went there to celebrate my 50th Birthday
Excellent service. The lady at reception was fabulous and very helpful as we planned as surprise for a birthday. Waiters also excellent, very personable, friendly and helpful.
The only area for improvement was that we had booked a table months ago for 3pm however when we arrived at 3pm, the table wasn’t ready so we had to wait in the busy bar area, only there wasn’t really anywhere to wait and the table wasn’t actually ready until 3.20pm. Had we just been a walk in tgis would have been understandable however when we did book a few months ago, this was a little disappointing.
Delicious food, the zucchini frittes are best I have eaten anywhere and are a must try. The monkfish x prawn curry (dairy free) was mouth watering and looked beautiful. A real lovely, busy place to meet up with friends but you need to book. The venue has a lovely ambience and we managed to get a window seat which is my favourite spot!
Great food. Service was questionable.
Excellent service. Delicious food. Price reasonable for such a nice restaurant. We will return
Perfect setting, wonderful service and fantastic food- will definitely return- thanks for memorable evening
Booked champagne afternoon tea for my best friend as a surprise. It full filled all my expectations. Attention to detail was fabulous
Super service. Delicious food.. steak tartare spot on. Great Evening.
We have now tried three of the Ivy’s iterations. The original, Canary Wharf and now York. The ambience in York is good but not as wrap around good as the other two. Food, service and overall quality are certainly up to standard. The Ivy Gin and Tonic and the Espresso Martinis are highly recommended and the best we have ever tasted. Our guests for lunch were delighted with everything, as were we.
Very attractive interior, good value and variety of menu. The service was exceptional
The Ivy was a spur of the moment choice as the restaurant we wished to visit had no availability. How delighted we were! Amazing food and wine, excellent service, especially the Maitre D who was exceptionally professional and helpful. All in all a superb experience.
The Ivy is my favourite restaurant.
You know whichever one you visit the food will be excellent. Would prefer to choose how much to tip but was glad to hear waiters got it.
I will always search out any Ivy and my favourite is Bristol followed by Harrogate then York then Manchester
My husband and I have visited the Ivy a couple of times. The only thing that lets it down is the quality of their steaks. The quality of the meat doesn’t match the price you pay. Everything else is wonderful, they just need to look at changing their meat supplier.
Eaten here a few times now. Always disappointed with the food. Service is usually good, but some staff need to iron their uniform before duty and refrain from applying lip salve etc whilst on the restaurant floor. The service charge is extortionate and only encourages me to order less items/drinks etc. Excellent decor and ambiance. Plenty of room for improvement in other areas as mentioned.
Yet again great food and service a nice brunch to set up the day
Friendly welcome, seated straight away and in very comfortable location. Served drinks, a very tasty Pinot. Very informative waiter & polite. We were celebrating my wife's birthday. Enjoyed a duck salad starter followed by shepherds pie then a most gorgeous "bomb" All topped off with a small "birthday cake" which was a very nice touch. Thank you
I had an American visiting me. I took her to the Ivy on her last visit. When she arrived in York she said can I take you to the Ivy on my last evening?
Had a wonderful meal for our son’s 21st birthday-food was delicious and the service excellent. Thank you
Arrival staff were very rude and looked down their noses at 5 well dressed professional women. Food was extremely dry - arracini balls needed some sort of sauce with them. Chicken was very dry and overcooked
Fabulous experience all round , no delays , no issues with food even in a packed environment.
Friendly and helpful staff.
Whilst it was a nice occasion And the staff and food was OK, I feel it lacks what its Edinburgh and London branches has - still, a great choice for York.
Very lovely decor and the staff are really friendly. The food and drink were delicious. They also have the best smelling toilets ever!
Fabulous brunch, with exquisite service and even better food. The lobster gratin is sublime. We will be returning once again very soon.
Amazing food, and staff were so attentive could not have asked for more
