The Ivy St. Helen’s Square
Booked last minute as a treat after an appointment at the dentist. I had the Egg Royal for Breakfast but asked for the muffin to be substituted with crushed avocado as I am on a low carb diet. It wasn’t a problem at all and the food was delicious. The service was outstanding.
Loved it, food was exceptional.. the whole experience was great from entering the place..
Excellent lunch, service was first class. We were celebrating our 56th Wedding Anniversary so all this made it very special. Thank you
Amazing food as usual, fantastic service and atmosphere. Always a pleasure to dine here.
Loved the food, service and restaurant.
Excellent service especially from Maggie.
Thankyou for a wonderful experience x
We enjoyed our trip to The Ivy , all the staff were lovely, the food was great and the rum baba was to die for . I will definitely be going back.
loved the experience ... even down to the beautiful flowers around the outside door everything was perfect and the food was to die for would come back for sure next time we visit york 🥰
The host wasn’t as welcoming as I’d have liked going into a place of that calibre.
Food was fantastic, waitress was very straight faced but nonetheless amazing services.
Will definitely be back..
Food was lovely, but the service, although very pleasant in manner, was rushed. From sitting down and ordering cocktails, the starters were delivered before cocktails were finished, quickly followed by mains, with everything done in around an hour. If its £10 for a cocktail, I want to enjoy the cocktail before being rushed on to starters. Likewise, for a £40 bottle of wine, I want to enjoy it with my meal, not have 2/3 left by the time you've finished eating. Service would be great for a Pizza Express or Zizzi type experience, not when its costing £80 a head.
Its obviously run on a volume basis with multiple table bookings in an evening, masquerading as fine dining, for that reason I wont recommend and won't be returning.
Food was great, service was slow at times and we had to sort out own wine or ask for additional drinks as no one around.
Such a lovely experience yet again at the wonderful ivy in York ...
This place never disappoints.
Wonderful service , food and ambiance..
Got a lovely table upstairs by the window, excellent friendly service and the food was very very nice, all in all a really good experience.
Great food and service a good wine list and a lovely place for our anniversary. Would definitely recommend for a nice meal.
Surely The most pleasant way to have supper! The Ivy York. Sat Helen’s Square. Served by Christina in beautiful surroundings /decor. Made to feel very special and of course wonderful food. Thank you Christina. You were a fabulous waitress
Probably the best Ivy I have eaten at, and I have enjoyed 3 different Ivy's in London including the original.
Excellent food in a lively atmosphere with top-notch service. The crispy duck salad was perfect and the Burger to follow was terrific, washed down with a robust red from Sicily at a reasonable price.
Excellent service with quality food. Nothing is too much trouble for staff to deal with
Was not overly impressed as didn't really enjoy our food and felt the tables were very close together. I would not be in a hurry to rush back .....................
Hi we all three ladies had a lovely evening ,good atmosphere not rushed at all. Had lemonsole and the waiter took it off the bone which was something I had not seen since the sixties. Took me back!Well done everyone.
Great for a birthday lunch..including yummy cake by surprise!
Location was good , service was good until we asked for the bill, we then waited 15-20 minutes and had to chase again , the food was very mediocre but reasonably priced , however the wine prices were high, we paid £29 for a bottle of Pino Grigio that would have cost £8-9 per bottle, tops in a supermarket there’s mark up and then there is daylight robbery
Only problem I had was reading the menu in the candlelight ,had to use my phone torch otherwise a special treat
Excellent reception, waitress service and food. We particularly appreciated not being hurried at all. Thank you to the staff.
Excellent service and food well looked after and even acknowledged my daughters birthday too
Birthday celebration, absolutely lovely! I'll definitely be returning and will recommend it to others.
Could not fault a thing, best place I've ever eaten at. Food was delicious and staff were very polite and friendly without being over bearing. The atmosphere at decor was lovely and factor all this in the cost was very reasonable for the high quality experience you recieved. Would definitely return
What an amazing experience- I have been to the original many times and had low expectations of this satellite.
If any of you harbour the same doubts banish them - this place is the real deal. Lobster risotto was utterly perfect and my wife took it off me! Her scallops were equally devine and my sons burrata was also perfect. I had the best swordfish in years followed by the chocolate bomb that I didn’t need but had to try - it was a gooey delight!!
I am seriously considering moving to York partially because of this meal - don’t miss a chance to try it out
Food lovely, service good until the end of our meal where it became slower. Ambience very different this time, missed the little touches.
Service excellent. Love the ambience and atmosphere BUT four guests squeezed round a table in the bar area. By main entrance so a bit draughty and in main thoroughfare for staff. Felt that the menu was very limited and seemed more so than at visits to Leeds and Edinburgh branches previously. Sunday lunch but only one of the specials available. Drinks eye wateringly expensive, so overall cost for 4 people two courses plus a couple of drinks, coffee and service well in excess of £200 - poor value.
I had the venison, which was cooked to perfection and tasted delicious.
My sweet potatoes were tasty too.
I think if you want to have a quality meal in fabulous surroundings with efficient and friendly service then this is the place to go.
Felt that the service in Leeds, Guildford and Edinburgh was better than the York restaurant unfortunately. York was not as attentive and got the bill wrong.
Lovely meal, great service, good value, friendly staff would return.
The staff at The Ivy York were so accommodating to our every request. The food was delicious, complete with one of your own celebration cakes.
I tried to order a cake for a celebration at The Ivy , London today, but was disappointed to find its not available in every outlet.
Another fabulous visit!
We had booked a meal with friends who were visiting so didn't want to disappoint them. Needless to say it was a complete triumph. The food choice is varied, something for everyone. The service was excellent, our Waitress Christina was lovely and extremely efficient. Our meal was delicious. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend The Ivy.
After previous meals I would recommend.
After this meal it wasn’t good enough to recommend
A lovely setting and great food...service was attentive but not stuffy!
The whole experience was lovely - food fabulous and great service. Really lovely surroundings and thoroughly enjoyed our evening.
Lovely food not too much so you were either over full or leaving it
We loved the place, the ambience and the service most of all. The food ranged from ordinary to excellent.
Took my wife there for a birthday meal. Everything is exceptional; the food, the service everything...
