The Ivy St. Helen’s Square
Front of house staff were pleasant. Server was very accidental! Bumping into other staff, dropping things and clumsy. Pleasant and friendly but clumsy in her style.
Very nice and food delicious . Greeting by door host could have been a bit friendlier is only thing that let it down
We had a fab waitress who was friendly, efficient and attentive. She even asked her manager to give us desserts on the house because me and my 2 daughters found it hard to hear/be heard over a pleasant but loud and lively table of 8 ladies next to us in the cosy alcove. The food was great as were the cocktails. This place never disappoints and we will be back again.
Charming staff. Food very good. Great cocktails and wine.
Amazing place to eat. Wonderful food and staff were lovely 😊
Outstanding service, food and drinks. Would thoroughly recommend
Absolutely brilliant service and delicious food. Will be visiting again
Visited with friends last weekend to celebrate my birthday following a fantastic visit to the Manchester Restaurant over Christmas. Food was mouth watering, service spot on and the ambience was everything you need in making it a fantastic experience. Already planning our next excuse to visit York however I think there is no excuse needed now as dining at The Ivy is the only reason we need!!!
Lovely brunch to celebrate my husband’s birthday, excellent service and food
As always we had a super time at The Ivy York. Nicky is always there to greet us with a smile , so professional, warm and friendly.
Jonny's recommendations go down a treat. His knowledge of wines is outstanding.
A wonderful experience every time we dine.
Great food in a wonderful restaurant. The staff and service were excellent. Beyond our budget for everyday dining but perfect for special occasions.
Great food and atmosphere.
Great restaurant. The service is excellent and the staff really helpful. The food is tasty and we will certainly eat there again
A nice buzzing atmosphere. We were having an early supper, the dining and bar area was busy and enjoyable.
We were taking risk as the previous 2 dining experiences were pretty poor, but, prior to them, we had experienced good food and service so didn't want to give up!
This time, the service was a little slow to start, but soon picked up, our server was a young lady named Mia, who was polite, helpful and attended to us very well.
The food was not far off excellent, our dietary needs were met and handled well.
all in all a very good experience, nothing really to fault....except.....£3.50 for five little olives!!! Seriously!
From the moment we arrived and were checked in and shown to our table the service was first class. Attentive service without being too intrusive. Food superb.
Always a very pleasurable experience at The Ivy - The service is attentive but not intrusive - The whole experience is relaxing and you are made to feel special and the food is excellent and value for money
Superb food excellent service thank you !
Absolutely outstanding service and food. Beautiful environment and Sophie who looked after us at our table was amazing!!. Both my partner and I gave feedback to say just how great both Sophie and our experience was. I plan to visit again on another special occasion.
We was very disappointed with the whole experience of the restaurant having eaten at the Leeds restaurant we was expecting good food and good atmosphere, for the cost of the food and service I would expect a much higher standard of service the staff where not brilliant by any stretch, we both felt uncomfortable in the environment and the food we ordered was of poor standard, the risotto was undercooked and my steak was overcooked over all not impressed and will not be returning. I have never been upset with having to pay for a meal no matter the cost but I was extremely upset and found it hard to part with my money for such a poor meal.
We love to come to the ivy for special occasions it’s been such a great experience every time.
Great food, great service and a lovely ambiance, highly recommended.
The best dining experience I have ever had! Food was amazing and the service was incredible. Can’t wait to go back here
We had the prefect table with a quiet space for the young child which was lovely to have, and the staff were very helpful in locating it for us.
The food overall was very enjoyable, one of the dishes was not quite as good as the other three, because as a vegetarian dish with butternut squash it did not really have enough considering it was main ingredient which was disappointing. The beverages were lovely and we all enjoyed the variety and choice of dishes.
It was the first time one of my friends had visited The Ivy, as I had hoped it won’t be the last. I felt very proud to have recommended such an excellent venue.
The food was really poor. The sweet potatoes were hard and the salmon was pink although asked for it to be well cooked. Did not say anything at the time as not appropriate with my guest and did not want to disrupt the lunch.
Friend's birthday lunch. We were really looked after., from the perfectly situated table to the surprise birthday bun.The food was delicious and the staff extremely friendly (even down to helping one of us with a broken coat zip!) but highly professional. My second trip to this restaurant and already looking forward to coming again. Thank you.
Nice looking dining room, interesting menu.
Unfortunately, the food experience failed to deliver - the shepherds pie was an extremely frugal portion and the mash on top was so thin it was almost not there. Saying that, the creme brulee was very good.
On the whole it was not worth the premium price, which is a shame.
Positives: excellent service across the board.
Great restaurant, in super location. Delivered the usual Ivy great standards.
very good meal - the server was very knowledgeable with regard to the menu and various food intolerance's
Excellent food and service. Never disappointed. Love the deco .
Excellent visit. Restaurant was very quiet possibly due to weather. Food was great and staff very attentive and friendly
Really nice evening.
Lovely food, lovely staff, professional and friendly service! Can’t wait to go back!!!
Our first time at the Ivy and we were seeing what the hype was all about! Service was professional but rather impersonal. Noise level ok - about what we’d expected. Food was a mixed bag - starters were delightful but mains were disappointing. My veg shepherd pie was the taste and texture of a bland school dinner, and over-peppered to boot. My partner’s cod was beautifully cooked but over-flavoured. The side of chips was dry and flavourless. We were up for dessert but the waitress took so long to get to us that we’d had enough by that time and just wanted out. It took the receptionfolks ages to find our coats. It was a busy Saturday night so maybe this experience is not indicative... but I’m not up for spending another £86 to check out that theory!
Amazing food and fantastic service. Have never been disappointed in any Ivy restaurant, but this might just have been the best food experience. Lovely location in the centre of York. Tables close together but the buzzy atmosphere means you can't tune in to your neighbour. Will definitely come here again next time I come to York.
Plenty of choice and portions were of a good size. Tasty dishes nicely presented. Service was attentive but not overbearing. Would definitely recommend!
Lovely place to eat, only downside was the steak i ordered was cold. Had to be returned, i then ate my meal after my wife finished hers. Admittedly, I wasn't charged, but it took the edge of the meal.
Attentive service and excellent quality food. Would definitively recommend.
Great place for a special occasion. Busy, bustling but still space to chat to firends on our table. Attentive service.
I normally love the food but I was disappointed to be honest, it was luke warm (shepherds pie) and we left most of our starters as they were average (duck late was extremely garlicky). It was a special occasion and it didn’t feel it due to the standard of the food however the service was great
