The Ivy St. Helen’s Square
Super lunch with lovely friends. Fabulous and attentive service (but left us to chat, rather than bothering us all the time)!
Only minus point was the unfortunate food stains on our waiters clothes...think it had been a rocky service earlier!
Food was good - and had the shepherds pie which tasted fantastic but do have to say that the portion was rather on the smaller side
I always have a great evening at the Ivy York as the food and atmosphere is fabulous!
We love the Ivy in York and have been several times as it is our favourite place.
We had a lovely champagne afternoon tea, we were a little disappointed with the service in having to use the same knife and fork for everything (cutting up sandwiches and then slicing open scones) and the jam was a little on the skimpy side, but the ambience and copious amounts of tea served in beautiful silver pots compensated.... be careful of the discretionary service charge.... out of all the branches though York is our favourite - we are trying London Bridge Ivy soon..
Friendly greeting on arrival. Staff were attentive without being pushy and service was exemplary. Plenty of food choices and a range of prices. Enjoyed the experience and would happily do it again...... except for the toilets. Gents were ok as far as I could see, but according to my wife, one of the three ladies toilets was not working. Two toilets for ladies on a busy day wouldn't be sufficient. Also, the fact that they aren't signposted (several people had to ask) and are up a double flight of stairs is not good, particularly for someone like my wife who is somewhat disabled. Other than that an overall good experience
Great service, nice wines, we had the calamari to start and the lobster pasta for mains both delicious, we had a great night at the Ivy
Expected better for the cost. I wouldn’t recommend the vegan afternoon tea.
Me and the ladies of my family came as a treat and had afternoon tea for 6! Food was fantastic and delicious, the service was very attentive and nothing was too much trouble despite it being a very busy Saturday afternoon! Will definitely be back and highly recommend The Ivy!!
Excellent food and service, staff were very attentive and helpful.
Welcomed on arrival. Hostesses very attentive. Great decor.
Very enjoyable - first time our friends had been , they were very impressed
Visited the Ivy on York for breakfast . Excellent food and great service throughout dining in the restaurant.
My wife really liked hers, my burger was an ok burger. The bread and olives were very good.
The guy who served our table was tentative but with a 12.5% service charge added it’s the least he could be. For the cost I was expecting to be wowed, but this didn’t for me.
Food Delicious - Service wonderful - highly recommend
An excellent family birthday Saturday brunch, good atmosphere and service. Recommended.
It was the most disappointing experience I have ever had, the customer service and management are inept, the waitress was rude and the sandwiches were stale. I have never experienced such poor customer service in my life or such poor quality of food, for an establishment which is supposed to be famed for it's afternoon tea. You'd be better of getting a supermarket prepacked sandwich.
Great window table
Wonderful food, excellent discreet service and value for money
Good atmosphere. Food was lovely although we had to ask to see the set menu. House wine wasn't great. The waitress also filled us up with out asking. I didn't really want more than one glass.
I booked a specific table with 2 weeks notice for a friends birthday. When we arrived two ladies were sat at the table I had requested and I pointed this out and they told me they had been their for 2 hours. The staff would not disturb them to vacate the table despite the fact they were just finishing coffee. On previous occasions we have been told to vacate a table by a certain time when someone had booked a table. We had advised at the time of booking this was for a birthday lunch, but I had to prompt the waitress to acknowledge my friends birthday.
Overall a very disappointing visit and experience.
Really nice environment and good food and wine. Staff efficient and friendly
My only point is that of the 5 poached eggs that we had, they were ALL hard boiled, no a runny egg in sight. Other than that, the birthday celebration at the IVY was lovely.
This was my first time visiting The Ivy, and for my first 21st birthday celebration it was perfect. Myself and my friends had a wonderful time, the staff were friendly and couldn’t have treated us any better.
Great service, fabulous desserts and loads of delicious Gluten Free choices.
We had such a wonderful evening. Staff so friendly nothing was to much trouble. Food was fabulous. A truly lovely evening.
I had booked the afternoon tea for 3 as a 50 th birthday present.
Unfortunately I felt we didn’t get enough jam and cream for the scones and no extra hot water or tea.
We also didn’t get a separate plate for the sweet items.
I asked for extra jam, cream and tea but it took a while to catch the waitress ‘ eye
The service wasn’t fantastic - we were celebrating special birthdays and had to fill our own wine and water. We had to ask for attention which I didn’t feel was as the previous visits I have had. A little disappointed.
Special occasion, wedding anniversary, usual friendly welcome and equally friendly staff.Glass of Prosecco to savour, whilst enthusing over menu choices.
Quality of cuisine, presentation, service and, atmosphere made this yet another memorable event.
Can recall the venue for our first anniversary and now, the fifty- ninth, but those in between, are “slightly hazy”.
Fantastic food, the waitress was so lovely & helpful, nice atmosphere
We decided to dine earlier than our original booking time and asked if that was possible . The staff said it was no problem and showed us straight to a nice table by the window . The service was excellent and the lobster and asparagus gratin divine !
Saturday 1:30pm table was lovely for my mums 60th birthday meal after a trip on the hire boats on the river Ouse. We will be back very soon
Lovely atmosphere and staff. Nothing was too much trouble. We were there for quite a while - family catch up - but we were not rushed to leave.
The food was exceptional. The staff are excellent, very attentive , would highly recommend The Ivy, York.
Excellent service and food
Great atmosphere, great service, amazing food. Didn't feel rushed and thoroughly enjoyable experience
Amazing food, lovely atmosphere and service. Good value for money.
Absolutely beautiful !
Had lunch with my mum on a Saturday afternoon and despite every table being occupied the service was fantastic!
Brilliant menu with vegan options. My mum loved her chocolate bombe Wimbledon themed dessert!
Had a great breakfast service was great and it was a lovely restaurant. Only issue coffee cd have been hotter and toast nearly burnt and cold but overall everything else was great. Will definitely be back.
Post birthday breakfast , lovely experience we booked through open table which was really easy . Given a table near the window great for people watching . Great eggs Benedict we asked for bacon rather than pork which was no problem. Now looking forward to a return visit
The best eggs Benedict ever however the tea was weak even with a second bag added... It was a shame because the rest was egg cellent we will be back
