First time at The Ivy and it didn't dissapoint!
Booked to take my dad for lunch
The staff were very attentive and professional, who doesn't like that little bit of Extra attention!
We ordered house wine which was very nice and food.
My chicken with seasonal salad and mashed potatoes was beautiful
And my dad's was equally as nice, the crab & salmon sandwich
The seating is comfortable and the atmosphere, chilled and relaxing
Will return soon, first class 👌
Overall a very, very good experience. A little shaky when we first landed - it took a while to seat us, but we were happy to have a drink at the bar... but the staff were clearly a little stretched and stressed. Once we were seated though the service and food took over and we didn’t look back. Great food, great night. All in our party we’re extremely happy with their food. Wine delicious. Chocolate bombe a must. Well done!!
Great breakfast choices and lovely food including a very nice Bellini. Fantastic surroundings and excellent waiting staff and service. Would definitely recommend for any occasion.
despite a problem with one dish the food was excellent and the problem resolved promptly and in a friendly way
We had an amazing time at The Ivy York could not fault this dining experience from the moment we were greeted upon arrival was exceptional service & waiters fantastic
Great table, excellent food and good service.
8 of us visited the Ivy for Father’s Day. Really impressed with how accommodating the staff were with kids. Food was absolutely delicious. We are now big fans of the chocolate bomb! Thank you 😀
We arrived early but got seat straight away in rear of restaurant and our table was very tight So I asked to move ,no problem got moved to front. Ordered 2 G+Ts. Then salmon for me & salmon&crab for wife for starters both arrived quickly but both rather tasteless On to main meal I had lamb which was ok Wife had whole sea bass which she found very bland,Another 2 G+Ts were ordered Then onto dessert which we shared creme brûlée another dish which was nothing special. Bill £115 quite dear for what we had and the quality was not there. Setting very nice, glad we went but would we go again I doubt it Drinks push bill up £35 for four G+Ts
Staff were professional, warm and friendly. Food was flavoursome and thankfully not fussy; the emphasis is on good, hearty and tasty food. Desserts were generous in portion size, starter and main perfect for me as a female diner. Lovely ambience and decor, St Helen’s Square where the restaurant is located looks very beautiful with the addition of this restaurant.
The building looked great, the food was delicious and the staff were very efficient. Well worth a visit!
Excellent. Had seen some questionable comments re service in advance but experienced not a bit of it. Looking forward to have the opportunity to go back.
Our visit was very enjoyable. The food was interesting and plenty although we were disappointed with the chips which were not thick cut as expected but oven chips! The ambience of the restaurant was good but we had to ask for the music to be turned down as the restaurant filled up with people and loud voices.
What delightful staff - even if they did forget my broccoli despite being reminded! Lovely food and wine. This was a very special re-union of old workmates and The Ivy proved ideal.
This is the second time we have been to the Ivy in York. The standard of furnishings, tableware and service make it feel like top-class dining without the top-class prices. The food is good and the menu is varied.
Fabulous food that just hits the spot perfectly. We had a lovely table and the staff were very friendly and attentive.
Had a superb evening. Faultless, informative and attentive service, despite it being very busy indeed. York races had been on and the centre was very busy as was the restaurant. Absolutely delicious food. We had the sourdough to share, a fillet steak and the prawn & monkfish curry. We shared the chocolate bombe. To drink we had delicious cocktails & great wine. All food and drinks were superb. Highly recommend.
This has become a favourite when visiting York. The staff are welcoming & the service is first class.
Menu choice & quality of food is exceptional.
My daughter recommended this for us....
A Great place to spend time with girlfriends, at lunchtime service, food second to none.
Already spread the word coming back with my mum and family thank you to the Ivy Team.
York is a favorite place of mine and has just got better.
Have been to the Ivy in York twice and have had a great experience on both occasions. First time was for brunch which was lovely and really enjoyable. The second was for dinner which was fantastic, great food and great service.
We enjoyed our meal at The Ivy in York however the service was disappointing.
We have previously been to The Ivy in Harrogate where we had the most fabulous evening attentive service and excellent food !!
Very similar to your other restaurants & the usual good quality comfort/everyday dishes.
Thoroughly enjoyed our first meal here! It’ll certainly be on our list to visit again. Surroundings and food excellent.
The Bomb Chocolat was extraordinary!
Oliver and Cedric great staff!
I was expecting great things and whilst the service is good and the ambience is very pleasant the food was poor I have to say. I ordered Steak egg and chips....not easy to get wrong. Cold meat, and incredibly tough, and cold chips. My colleagues enjoyed their food but again not to write home about.
Overall disappointing, I will give it one more go but have to say my expectations were higher. Couldn't fault the service though, this they definitely have got right.
Great food but the waiting staff had far too many tables to manage, so although knowledgeable and friendly they couldn't deliver as good a service as I would expect from a restaurant of this standard.
The service was poor and the waiters were inattentive - we’d finished our meal by around 7pm and had to wait over an hour for the bill and then the card machine. I had a train home booked at 8:36 which I missed because of this lack of attention. I was not impressed and not at all happy- I was considering leaving without paying at all. Very poor end to an alright evening - because of this lack of attention and the fact your waiters caused me to miss my train, I will not be recommending your restaurant.
We had lunch and the food was lovely, the service impeccable, would definitely go again
We celebrated my husband's birthday recently and couldn't have asked for better. The food was delicious and the staff were attentive and friendly. Highly recommended!!
Our visit to The Ivy was outstanding. The ambience was perfect and the decor vintage and impressive. We had the comfortable table by the door.
The staff were super attentive without being overbearing
I had the prawn cocktail to start and it was amazing. We treated ourselves to rib eye steaks with sides and they were out of this world.
We didn’t find things overly priced and we thought we paid for what we got. Drinks menu was very reasonable.
Nice place, but needs blinds for the sunny days. The food was good but drinks service a little slow.
Service excellent from start to finish. Food delicious, would have preferred a table more to the middle /front of restaurant as we were right at the back however still had a lovely time.
Very rowdy. Lack of propriety behaviour from many other diners. It was a Saturday evening and the tables around us were full of people intoxicated with alcohol (entered the restaurant in this state) with fake mustaches and eating with a knife to spoon food into their mouths for a laugh from their friends etc. Not in keeping with the Ivy image.
Food very good but the restaurant had a naff feel on this occasion unlike our previous visit. This would put me off returning on a weekend.
The Ivy was lovely. The interior decoration and ambience was relaxing. The food was delicious but we thought that vegetables or other should be included with the main meal. Also, a jug of fresh water on the table should also be included without having to pay extra.
My friends and I had a wonderful afternoon tea sat in the window having a good catch up. Would highly recommend the afternoon tea.
Me and my husband was hear on Saturday afternoon first time visit. Place was really nice decor and our waiter was very nice and the rest of the staff we spoke to was . I had the parfait with toasted brioche bread to start was very nice and I had sea bass with side order of brocclie was all so very nice . My husband had the pea soup was nice
And he had the steak chips and fried eggs bit of a disappointment reely the steak was like thin minute steak to be honest . We didint stay for dessert just had bottle of water and glass of wine because we was going some where Ells. Not cheap but we expected that .we will go back again and try something different.
The service and food were amazing. Would recommend. We went for my friends birthday and we all had a really lovely time.
This was for our wedding anniversary, we both had a Very enjoyable evening good food and great selection of drinks, service exceptional would recommend to all.
We booked online which was a very easy thing to do and we were able to get our preferred time slot. We showed up early as our previous meeting had finished early and we were seated straight away. On a Friday! The food was good and I think I may have eaten a bit too much.
The music was a bit patchy. There was some drum and bass and then there were some Other music which was a bit better. I felt that the speakers were just a touch too loud especially when the “ doosh doosh” music was on.
I will have to keep an eye out for The Ivy in other cities.
I've been here a few times for lunch and dinner. Living in York, I try to avoid the big chains as there are so many small independent restaurants which are great. But I make the exception for the ivy. It's a really lovely experience and the service is impeccable
Excellent service, friendly staff, great food and love the decor!
