The Ivy St. Helen’s Square

Sundays & Bank Holidays: 9am-12.30am

It was a good experience but I have some negative comments. The toilets are on the first floor and you have to negotiate the stairs with staff coming down with trays of food. You also hear all the kitchen noises.
The other negative is the price of the drinks. £17.50 for a gin & tonic, £7.50 for a pastis.
Great meal to celebrate a birthday
Absolutely stunning , cold toast and the drinks are pricey but your paying for an experience
Spot on menu, service and friendliness.
We had a really lovely evening on our first wedding anniversary.
Had a great meal here. The staff are clearly doing their best to make a good impression which they certainly did. This was the best restaurant meal we’ve had in along time with good service and not too pricey. Try the crispy duck starter although next time I’m going for the scallops! Will definitely go back
Visited Sunday night exvellent service food and atmosphere looking forward to celebrating my daughters 21st in September
Went for my wifes birthday
Staff were very pleasant very helpful
And knowledgeable about there products
Food was outstanding would definitely recommend the ivy york.
Had a lovely time and experience. The food and wine was delicious
First visit to an Ivy restaurant to celebrate wedding anniversary. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the atmosphere was pleasant. Would definitely return.
Excellent food and service...Will definitely be back and would highly recommend.
Excellent location, good ambience, slow service but not unacceptable. Quality wines, overall a very pleasant experience, which will be repeated.
Had a lovely lunch to celebrate partners birthday. Loved every minute . Definitely a must go again as so many things I want to try on the menu xx
It was a lovely atmosphere, quirky setting with amazing food. All the staff were really friendly too. We have already recommended the restaurant to family and friends. Looking forward to planning our next visit.
Lovely lunch, very nice sweet, my husband had the chocolate bomb which has warm chocolate poured over a hollow chocolate sphere very dramatic, I had the apple tart which takes a little longer because it's made fresh, but is certainly worth the wait, it has warm brandy set alight and poured all over the top.
Staff were wonderful could not do enough for you from the time you walk through the door to the time you leave. I would certainly recommend the Ivy. It is a little expensive but worth it for the quality of food and experience.
The best aspect of this IVY branch is the service. Unlike its counterparts, especially in London, the staff here actually interact with customers. They are very welcoming without being obsequious and are professional throughout.
The food is fresh and attractively presented. Tables are not spaced too closely together thus allowing for a modicum of privacy. Real table napkins are provided and water is supplied throughout the meal. The menu is varied and reasonaably priced. Great filtered coffee also.
This was my first time visiting The Ivy with my two friends to celebrate my 40th Birthday in style. The food was absolutely fantastic (not usually something I say!) and the service from the staff was first class! I would even go as far as to say I enjoyed it better than Betty's around the corner!! I would definitely recommend The Ivy as a must do in York!
I have been to the London / bham x2 / York x2 and Harrogate restaurants and I think they are all lovely they are my first choice of restaurants
An enjoyable evening, good food, service and interesting building
Fantastic service in a wonderful setting with beautiful food. Exceeded my expectations and made for a lovely relaxed fine dining experience.
Always consistent and love going the cocktails are good nice surroundings
The food was excellent and the waiter was attentive and swift. We did feel a little rushed as I think they needed the table. The side dishes and extras were expensive.
My sis-in-law and I went out for a meal together and chose The Ivy, York. What a fabulous evening. From the moment we walked in we were made to feel welcome. Our server, Christina, was fantastic and went above and beyond to make our evening special.
First class service. Very good food. The restaurant would have benefited from air conditioning, was very hot!
Very welcoming restaurant, a lovely meal with just the right level of attentive service. We all enjoyed our evening.
Recommended by my brother and it didn't dissapoint.
It has the feel of the 1920's and 1930's. The front of house was well organised and we were quickly shown to the bar where a drink arrived speedily along with the menus. Our table was ready in a few minutes and we chose of the set menu which was reasonably priced.
A nice atmosphere and the food was very good indeed.
Waiting staff were polite and competent.
We booked the table a couple of hours earlier via the OpenTable App. This worked seamlessly.
Great feel, good food, and attentive staff. We will be back
We have had dinner for a special occasion & a lunch for family who had travelled 2hrs. just to experience the Ivy & both times it was superb.
The set menu is very good value mid week before 6.30pm. Buzzy atmosphere. Great service. Delicious food especially the chocolate dome which is on the a la carte menu.
We had a lovely time at the ivy . Would definitely go again . The food was lovely and the service was good .
Had a lovely early lunch with a friend for her birthday- wonderful service and food and a special birthday pud was supplied- many thanks for a lovely time. Will definitely return.
Came for a Silver Wedding Anniversary meal so was looking for something special. There was nothing wrong with our experience but I couldn’t call it special.
Service and ambience was excellent. The portions of olives and truffles too parsimonious. Vegetables with dish were only a garnish, again parsimonious. However, the overall experience and service staff was superb.
The ambience is superb, including the smart dress of serving staff. Feels like a London club. Cocktails made expertly at the bar, which is a lovely feature with its brass lamps. Food of the highest quality, and well presented, but pricey. The filet steak, for instance was superb, but came with no vegetables or sauce at all -- these were all extras -- which pushes up the cost. It was a niggle more than something that marred the evening. Serving staff are extremely polite and friendly.
Very nice meal. The lady on the front desk (with short hair!) showed excellent customer service and care and made us feel valued. Our waitress was polite but a little more confidence and engagement would have made it perfect.
Very good value for money and lovely surroundings.
A very good addition to the many restaurants in York. Good food, good service in very pleasant surroundings.
poor service, poor food./ children waited 20 minutes for coke cola and the restaurant was half empty and three working at the bar?? no one in charge to pull it together. really disappointed
It was our 25th Wedding Anniversary and my husbands birthday the waiter was very tentative and he brought us the most amazing chocolates i would come back just to get those chocolates never mind the food and that was very good
Exceptional service and delightful ambience, but thought a little overpriced for portion size
Waiting far too long for average food. Very noisy too
Vibrant restaurant, fabulous central location, team were all very professional and gave excellent service. Food looked and tasted amazing.
We had an excellant lunch at the Ivy in York, good food and great service.
