Poor but polite service
Long waiting time
Cold toast (twice)
Not the best breakfast either
Disappointed and such a lovely venue too
Service was incredibly slow, breakfast took ages to arrive after the toast was placed on the table so was cold.
Inconsistent service, bacon missing from two breakfasts, eggs and black pudding were overcooked to the point of being hard.
When complained didn't really get an apology, someone came over and said we have taken the service charge off! We weren't going to pay that anyway for bad service - it was for my birthday and as none of the staff seemed bothered, we just paid and left.
Very poor for such a renown name like the Ivy.
Excellent evening we were celebrating a birthday. The food and service was exceptional will be visiting there again soon
Well presented food, balanced flavours and textures. Attentive service and didn't feel rushed. Tables slightly too close together, with waiting staff's derriere in my personal space. Staff a little too self important and need to relax a little. . Most cocktails tenner a pop and not entirely wowsome - Nonetheless a most enjoyable evening in all and will return
Loved the atmosphere the decor resembles Art Deco beautifully
Excellent food and service, couldn't have wished for a better night. Made my partner feel so special on her Birthday, can't thank them enough x
Caught up with my bestie & we had the set price menu. We were left to catch up as we hadn’t seen each other in a while. However it was a little too long, as we had asked for a bottle of water & nothing materialsed. On the plus side the waiters were friendly & I feel coildn’t Do enough for you. I had soup & my friend had a pate.ygen we both had fish goujons washed down with a glass of prosecco. For the price it was really good value. Will definitely visit again. Hope they go a Christmas menu, would like to try x
Food slow. Peach Bellini horrible. Friendly staff but seemed overloaded. Beautiful decor. Disappointed - thought it would have been better in view of the reputation of the chain.
Becoming a regular now. Love the brilliant value set lunch menu. Wonderful ambience, good food and attentive staff.
It took ages for us to be served, then it was ages for the food and had to ask where our dri ks were, when we'd been asked if we would like them with our food to which yes, nearly half eaten mine by the time we got it. I wouldn't recommend afternoon tea as I've got far more and better value for money else where. The cocktails where excellent, next time I would just sit and eat at the bar as the service is faster and better there, still loved it, and would definitely go again but not if I'm in a rush x
Made to feel special on my birthday, great service and food was delicious
The food was delicious
Excellent service - very good knowledge about food (especially our server Luca). We loved his recommendations and attention to details.
Excellent service, lovely setting and good food. Worth a visit.
great venue, drinks menu, food and vibe - the bar/waiting area is really old school glam, although could do with a bit more seating. There was a bit of green eyed food envy going on when all the dishes turned up, especially for the monkfish and prawn curry
Its was my mothers 50th Birthday. She has always wanted to go to the Ivy in London so when this opened in Birmingham we were pleasantly surprised.
The service was a shambles for a posh restaurant (you would get better service in a harvester or a weatherspoons). We had to ask where our drinks were on 3 separate occasions. The beer that was bought over was warm. As the staff took our bottle of Champagne away we had to ask for it to be refilled - this took about 10 minutes each time we wanted it to be filled.
I had told the staff that it was a special occasion so i would of expected a free glass of prosecco or champagne at least!
The food was nice so that was the saving grace for my review - parts of it were cold but overall it was nice food.
Unsure if i would return based on this but i would recommend for a friend to try the Ivy.
As a Brummie now living in Spain, I was really looking forward to our visit. Everything from booking the table to the meal itself was fantastic.
The atmosphere was buzzy and the staff were all great.
Not the cheapest place to eat in Town but, right up there with the best.
We will all be back.
one of the best eggs royale i have had. the coconut yoghurt was nice but asked for honey with it which they were happy to provide, and tasted amazing.
well decorated venue with a quiet ambience.
Had a really lovely anniversary meal at The Ivy on Monday evening. The food and drinks were excellent and the venue itself is absolutely stunning.
Couple of things which were frustrating; the service was quite slow considering it's a brand new venue in a hotspot of the city. Our drinks took approximately 15 minutes from ordering and the server (who was very sweet overall) had a habit of repeatedly clicking her pen just behind me at the till point over and over again which was very frustrating and distracting. The temperature of the room was quite chilly so I had to wear my partners jacket.
A lovely touch was that they gave us a 'Happy Anniversary' fruit tart with desserts which was really well received.
I would return, just as long as the persistent pen clicker has calmed down.
Pleasantly surprised by the very affordable prices - the menu is more bistro than fine dining, with favourites like shepherds pie (an interesting twist with cheesy mash), lamb shank, and fish and chips. The scallop starter with crushed peas etc was a little lacking in flavour, and the house burger rather dry, but the steak tartare was voted excellent and the sourdough bread and butter (£3.50 gets you a whole small loaf cut in six, our party of 4 demolished 2 loaves!) was much enjoyed. Good to see a choice of non-alcoholic drinks for drivers. We had asked for a quiet table, and were duly seated in the upstairs restaurant - far nicer and quieter than the downstairs hubbub near the bar. Dinner for 4 including a bottle of wine, 2 of water and pre-dinner drinks came to a whisker over £200.
Perfect setting, gorgeous decor. The food was delicious, the cocktails were tasty and the service was excellent
Visited when first opened - excellent experience, first class service, food & treatment of our party of (6) was brilliant, chose from a la carte menu.
Visited again for friends birthday this week, very disappointed! Food wasn’t hot, side came late had to ask for mains as waited 1hr15mins after starter, ordered from set menu, we left before desert :(
Good well presented food, great ambiance and design, and sound allowed conversations without need to raise voice which is rare these days. Only niggle was slowness of service at reasonably quiet lunchtime, should not take two hours!
fab we really enjoyed the food , will be going back very soon with the family, for fab cocktails and food
Fantastic restaurant, been to a few of the Ivy Bistro’s now and they have all be excellent love the modern layout and how well the staff treat you
Amazing service! Loved the ambience (company excluded ;) ) decor was lovely!! Very much my cup of tea; certainly value for money! Food was only a 4 because of personal preference. Overall fantastic! Presentation was fantastic
Lovely venue and really good food. Service was a little slow though for drinks order and when requiring waiter for clearing plates and for payment
Stylish casual dining. Good quality drinks selection. Busy place - some tables are rather close to each other. Overall, a good atmosphere where the emphasis is on enjoyment.
Excellent from start to finish. Will be going back.
We thoroughly enjoyed our first experience at the ivy. Food was excellent, however would have been better if there had been more food vegetarian/vegan options.
We had breakfast here - vegetarian breakfast and Eggs Benedict. Beautiful restaurant, food was plentiful and lovely. The service very attentive. Fabulous 😊
Lovely addition to Birmingham with an excellent location and a comprehensive menu.
Perfect for an intimate meal or business dinner.
Great food, great service very in keeping with its Art Deco ambience.
Will definitely be going again, truly really lovely.
(9.5 out of 10 from me and thats only because I don't like my coffee quite that strong!).
Amazing food and fantastic attentive staff! Decor is decadent and tasteful, cocktails were lovely. Very reasonable price for really good food.
Excellent- will happily go there again. Food delicious and great atmosphere.
My waitress and the staff were very lovely. However one incompetent waiter told me the special was on the special two course menus and when the bill came I found that it was much more expensive. I found it quite deceitful to attempt to ensure I paid for the most expensive meal.
Fantastic service and food! 10/10 could not fault the experience
Loved it......we had breakfast here and received 5* service, excellent food and brilliant atmosphere. Highly recommended.
A celebration brunch for my friends 50th. She had a lovely time and was made to feel special by the little cake and candle they gave her after the meal. Beautiful decor and friendly, attentive staff.
