Over all good but ordered olives with our cocktails that did not arrive. Slow service towards the end of the meal ie. when waiting for the bill and to pay once the bill had arrived.
The Ivy in Birmingham is a lovely restaurant. The interior design is wonderful, and I loved the large birds on the wallpaper, and the prints of Birmingham buildings.
I took a long time choosing what I wanted to eat, because the menu has a great range of choices, and the prices are reasonable.
The staff were friendly, professional and informative. I took the opportunity to review the upper restaurant area, and function space on the top floor, and both would make excellent choices for larger parties/small functions.
My only disappointment with the Ivy Birmingham is the limited choice for lunch and the waiting list for dinner due to its popularity! However I will definitely being returning, and bringing all my friends and family in the coming months.
Thank you to the Ivy for finally opening in Birmingham. It was worth the wait.
Amazing food and service. Good value for money.
Service was WOW
Food very good
We had lunch here and were really impressed by the quality standard of the food and the staff knowledge of menu items, attentiveness and general friendliness. There was a warm welcome on arrival and we continued to be impressed thereafter. My only concern here is that if the restaurant was full it would be a little noisy and the tables were a little close together. As no one was sat at the table either side of us this was not a problem for us. Well done to the front of house staff, our waiter and the chef.
Impressive service and quality. A little disappointed at the limited vegetarian selection but overall a great experience.
We booked for afternoon tea at 3pm. We found the tables very close together, in fact a couple who were shown to the table next to us requested to be reseated.
Lovely teapots but handles very hot!
Disappointed with selection of teas, we were offered English breakfast tea or The Ivy's own blend. Had expected a wider selection.
Lovely atmosphere and decor. Would like to return for dinner and cocktails!
Fantastic food and service in a beautiful setting.
First visit, tables very close together so not much privacy. Good value for money and our waitress Becky was superb and will definitely come back because of her!
Staff were so attentive and very accommodating! Food was just fantastic!
Stunning restaurant - old fashioned glamour and amazing service
After visiting The Ivy Covent Garden a number of times I has high expectations for The Ivy Birmingham and it didn't disappoint. The Ivy Shepherds Pie is a must, the best Shepherds Pie I have ever had. The restaurant is light and airy and beautifully decorated to The Ivy standards and very reasonably priced. I will be making another visit very soon.
The food was tasty and the food service was excellent. However, we waited 30 minutes for our cocktails to be served and it was another 10 minutes before my son received his drink.
The bill was incorrect so had to be adjusted. One could say that there are teething problems that, hopefully, will be addressed. However, the experience was good enough for us to intend to visit again.
We love going to The Ivy when we're in London so we're really glad to have one on our doorstep! Happy to say that the Birmingham Ivy Temple Row is just as lovely an experience as any we've been to in London and we can\t wait to go back. I always have the avocado and spinach benedict for brunch which is amazing :)
This was my second visit this week. Service was very slow to begin with, then Becky whom served us before was very friendly and efficient.
Because the food was so good the first time round, I decided to have the same again. The ribeye steak, but it wasn’t as good unfortunately.
Still an enjoyable evening and definitely recommend.
Amazing food and attentive staff!! Would highly recommend 👌🏽
I booked a table for 4 on Saturday night to celebrate my husband’s birthday.
The food was Devine and surroundings beautiful. Very stylish decor.
We were quite disappointed with the service however. Felt it lacked a personal touch. Had to chase drinks order 3 times. On reservation made a note that we were celebrating a birthday and wasn’t mentioned at all during our visit. Only a small detail but does make a difference. Overall just slow considering the tables weren’t full.
Will certainly return and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend as surroundings are a cut above the non- michalin competition, however service does require polishing up on!
Overall excellent experience, quality food, engaging friendly staff.
Enjoyed the bar after we dined, again friendly engaging staff.
Keep up the standards, and i'm sure you will be great success.
Welcome to Birmingham.
Had a fab experience, loved the decor, loved the food and cocktails were fab. Great experience all round. Looking forward to returning
Good menu serving British favourites, bangers and mash, shepherds pie, but also serving lobster so something for everyone. Cocktail menu disappointing and we did struggle to find drinks we liked. Staff were lovely but we did seem to wait quite a while to order drinks and food, put this down to inexperience due to it being a new restaurant and under pressure to succeed. Our table was booked for 5.45pm and we found the toilets were not being maintained well, no towels to dry hands and a little untidy. A beautifully decorated restaurant and in time with more experience I would imagine will be a lovely place to dine. I would eat there again but once it has all settled down and in a better routine.
Interior vibrant, elegant, colourful and eclectic. Well lit, had an exciting busy atmosphere about it.
Whiskey sours were very well crafted, the maraschino a nice touch.
Good selection of wines by the glass and great wine list overall.
Simple, unpretentious menu.
Delicious, perfectly seasoned.
Asparagus with real, luxurious hollandaise.
Smoked salmon fine, delicate.
Shepherd's Pie, intensely flavoured - simply outstanding
Steak and Eggs, just that! Nice!
Staff were incredibly attentive, not invasive, very well trained.
Not bad I suppose, I'm not one for going to resteraunts, so when the option to go the ivy came about, I thought why not.
The welcome we got on arrival was really nice, made us feel warm and special.
We got seated immediately and then had to wait a while for drinks.
The main course food was nothing special to be honest, shepherd pie with peas (sauce was very tasty though) and steak ,eggs and chips. But the service to bring the food was excellent, approx 10 mins ish.
The desserts was another story, amazing to be honest. we ordered the truffles and chocolate bomb. Wow, tastebuds was popping with excitement.
The cost inclyding 4 drinks came £70 but then hit with 12% sevice charge, which we ended up paying rather than make a scene.
I feel the the restaraunt was trying to live upto the billing of its sister restaurants in london. All posh and fancy but apart from the desserts very normal and overatted.
The restaurant wasn't that fill at the time and we seen atleast 3 tables being ignored, we seen 2 customers having to chase up the waiters for service such as drinks etc.
Oh to add the air conditioning made the area cold with some woman refusing to take their coats off.
Would I go again? Probably not.
Beautiful surroundings, attentive staff, lovely atmosphere, friendly as well as extremely courteous. All the staff were very knowledgable regarding the menu and drinks available. I will definitely book again.
Great food and great service. We’ll definitely be back soon!
Fabulous place better less formal than the original in london...will deffo be going back with friends
Super classy and elegant but not snooty or intimidating. I booked ahead for brunch on first Saturday it was open. Got seated in a great corner banquette.
Food was delicious and beautifully served. Staff was friendly and attentive but not over bearing. Waitress told us that they are not fully booking for a little while to ensure the brand new staff get up to speed, which is so sensible, more new restaurants should do this and thy would get less complaints. Food prices were very reasonable but we overspent on wine and Bellinis, oops #sorrynotsorry
Was worried that the style wouldn’t reflect in substance, but it really did. Fantastic food and drinks greats. Just need to tighten up slightly on service as some staff seemed a little nervous and not at ease, but this will come as they bed in. Overall very good and excellent value.
Done really well, great service and food was cracking.
In very simple terms fantastic, I thought having been to the Ivy in London on many occasions that I would find it difficult to compare, no such worrie, by far a great restaurant, well done
Ambiance, decor, staff and service - all very good - Food - so disappointing we have cancelled our table for 6 in a couple of weeks time. Starters were very tasty - Prawns and the Mozzarella, well cooked and well presented. Mains - inedible. Soggy
lukewarm chips which dominated both plates, Fish in soggy batter (albeit the fish was tasty) Burger, well.... slap a piece of tasteless meat inside a bun (no relish, thank goodness we paid extra for the cheese) a bland, uninspiring excuse for a meal. At no point did anyone approach us to check on our meals, and it took an inordinate amount of time to get anyone's attention. Our waitress was very apologetic, as allegedly the fish and chips are the signature dish! We won't be returning.
After eating in the Ivy in Kensington a couple of times we were hoping for an equally excellent evening. We were not disappointed, pleasant service, excellent food and great atmosphere. I've tried to book again in June, but unfortunately it's busy!!!
New place that was required in Birmingham for a quite drink and food
Excellent service and food
Lovely evening food really good and service exceptional
Food and the restaurant were excellent. However, long wait for drinks after ordering them whilst dining. Staff a little too attentive, in that we were inteupted about 20 or so times by various members of staff to check everything was okay - yet it didn’t make the drinks arrive any quicker...
Stunning decor and fantastic ambience. Good British food and decent options. Very good service with plenty of staff. Can’t wait to go back
We arrived half an hour early in order to have a pre dinner drink but we were advised you could only be seated at the bar and there were no seats available! We we told there was no rush to have our table back so we could take our time over drinks-we ordered drinks and nibbles, the nibbles arrived but it took 15 minuets to get our drinks and we were asked twice during that time to place our food order! So it felt quite time pressured and wasn’t a relaxing start to the evening. Front of house should perhaps have relayed to the waiting on staff that we were early and wanted to relax with a drink first. I guess you could say they were too efficient but I think getting drinks out sooner and communication could be worked on. But in fairness they have only just opened
An truly amazing place. Excellent food and very good service. The ambience was perfect and I can't wait to visit very soon. My favourite place in Birmingham.
This appears to to be a really good restaurant with a great ambience if you are seated downstairs. If as we were, you are unfortunately seated upstairs then it is a different story. Upstairs though magnificently decorated lacks the the buzz and atmosphere of downstairs. It feels as though you are in an annexe of the main restaurant.
We found the staff very attentive an friendly . But the restaurant was only one third full so there wasn't much pressure on them.
We also made the mistake of ordering off the set menu. Crab and watermelon starter. Very poor and full of pips. Mushroom risotto also poor. Steak and chips. Which consisted of a very, very flattened piece of steak, a cup of chips and nothing else. At a £3.50 surcharge. Sauces and sides were available but again at extra cost. Quite tasty but extremely boring.
I would however, recommend this restaurant this restaurant purely on the decor and would also give it a second chance and visit again. But only on the proviso that I sat downstairs and ordered off the A la carte menu.
The food was excellent and I would recommend it to anyone, as it was the first week of opening we did have a few hiccups waiting between meals but we were recompensed and the staff were very apologetic so could not fault it at all.
Thoroughly enjoyed our lunch at The Ivy, Birmingham with friends. Great location, beautiful interior design and great food! We have visited the Ivy in London many times and are thrilled that we now have The Ivy Birmingham. Looking forward to our next visit!
We had the most delicious food. Staff were attentive without been overbearing and the ambiance was spot on. Look forward to dining here again very soon.
