The Ivy Temple Row
Fabulous food; great atmosphere. Really enjoyed this visit...
Steak was undercooked and returned and replaced by another one , which was tough , managed to eat some of it but was really poor especially for the price .
Shame been to a few of the Ivy restaurants and always had a good experience .
Drinks fabulous Food fabulous staff are really friendly a fantastic day
Went to the Ivy for afternoon tea on my 50th birthday. I had a lovely time. The staff were excellent and would definitely recommend the Ivy and look forward to going again.
We booked for our wedding anniversary and we thoroughly enjoyed the whole afternoon, the service and food was fabulous, the extra touch with the labelled little deserts was amazing!
Very disappointing experience , we had a waiter we simply could not understand his foreign accent was so thick we had to ask him to repeat everything which was embarrassing. My so called " grilled " lobster was a watery tasteless mess. My colleagues rump of lamb was tough. 2 gin and tonics £21.00 !!! our bill was £187.00 for a less than average meal.
I loved this place. Very relaxed atmosphere and attentive staff.
Visited The Ivy in Bath and had THE best food and phenomenal service. The Ivy in Birmingham was poor by comparison. Terrible service. A£19.50 for a Duck Salad?! Will not visit again.
The girl who served us was very friendly and knowledgable.
There is always a contented buzz in this place. Stylish dining in attractive central Birmingham location overlooking Cathedral Square and three minutes walk from New St Station. A warm greeting leads to a stylish and professionally run bar. The eating areas offer reasonably spaced tables for a busy location. Service is very good and excels in dealing with larger tables of six or eight - we had six on our table last time. Main course food portioning usually means a side order is required. This adds to the cost. Wine list is interesting and good quality - not expensive by London prices but a little bit hefty for Brum, especially at the lower end. Expect to pay £60-70 per head for two/ three courses with a cocktail and wine, coffee etc. So there are cheaper places but I have always thoroughly enjoyed my time here.
Was less busy than previous visits which was ideal. Staff really helpful and welcoming and food excellent. Highly recommend.
Our dining experience was overall absolutely fabulous. Unfortunately we arrived twenty minutes early, and we were asked to sit at the bar for until our table was ready, the only seating at the bar were very high stools that I couldn’t get on as it kept turning. I decided to just stand. The Bar men were very attentive.
We were then taken to our table which was the round seating area, which had loose scatter cushions on which I had to move to get to my seat. The food was delicious, the restaurant was very busy. We didn’t have to wait long for our food. I found the particular seating that we were at was slightly claustrophobic when the seats either side of us were then taken. On the one side were four men. I had returned from the bathroom and pushed to my seating area was one of the scatter cushions with a laptop on it. The man did move it when I got back, but I just found that slightly off putting. It was my husbands birthday and our anniversary so that did spoil the afternoon.
Beautiful food and very relaxing afternoon service was good
Definitely go back
Fantastic food, beautifully presented. Restaurant is delightfully decorated, amazing service.
First time I've visited The Ivy and I was certainly not disappointed. From the moment we walked through the door, we were treated to a wonderful experience. Service was second to none, with all the team being exceptionally polite, friendly and attentive (without being intrusive). Lunch was divine, we had a two course lunch and shared a dessert (highly recommend the chocolate bombe......it was heavenly!) Ambience was very relaxing and friendly. Spent most of the afternoon there - looked out of the window, seen the rain and decided to have another drink instead.
Perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
Excellent food and service. Looking forward to my next visit
I would recommend the ivy to a friend. The lady that served us was lovely. And I came with my 1 year old daughter the staff were so accommodating, even when i needed a quiet space for breast feeding it was no trouble.
Fabulous place for lunch.
We have dined at The Ivy several times and never disappointed. It was the first time we had been for brunch and a very enjoyable occasion prior to going into hospital for hip surgery
Service was terrible
We were hugely disappointed by our recent to mark our Anniversary. We were served by a waitress who was irritated and annoyed by the fact we asked for plates for our starters! When our mains arrived my burger bun was burnt and the burger was so dry it was inedible. The other dish had salad thrown on top of the chicken as if to 'hide' the dish. The waiter removed one of the dishes from bill but proceeded to add a service charge! If the food and service matched the décor I would certainly return but customers should not need to deal with rude staff and dreadful food. Perhaps the Ivy were having an 'off night' but having visited the London Ivy many times the Birmingham restaurant has a long way to go to match this standard...
All good well looked after it was my partner's 50th she loved it.
Excellent experience to celebrate our wedding anniversary... service was excellent food was outstanding..Will definitely recommend and return
Had a fantastic lunch with my friend, atmosphere was great and perfect service. Looking forward to going again!
Great food. Great staff. Well priced.
Great food! Amazing atmosphere :)
Although the menu is quite small the food was well cooked and delicious. The staff were so attentive and we're a real asset to the place. Cocktails were amazing as well. Really enjoyed and would go back again for a special occasion as it's not cheap!
Fantastic surroundings, great atmosphere & delicious food..never disappoints!
Very noisy, difficult to hold a conversation. Ladies complained about the distance to the toilets from the ground floor. Behaviour of some of the clientele was disgraceful.
But on a positive note food & Service were both very good.
More impressed with drinks and interior. Food average!to good but nothing blew me away. Service was not up to standard. Kept giving is other people’s orders. We had to keep initiating drinks. Had the potential to be a lot better. Interior is lovely. I would go back just for drinks or afternoon tea.
From the moment you walk through the door your feel welcome . Staff are glamourous and attentive. Dining area is beautifully decorated and the ambience is lovely. Food was delicious . The only slight negative is there were two bones in my fish. Fortunately they were quite big so I noticed them easily.
Well worth a visit. Prices especially fixed price menu are very good.
You won’t be disappointed
Excellent meal out.
Service was a little “stilted” with various staff serving us. Would prefer one staff member for consistency.
Only a small point.
Fabulous place. Excellent friendly service. Food beautiful. Very good fixed price menu. We will be back!
The only thing that spoilt it was my table was for 2 people and I didn’t appreciate the discretionary service charge of £8.23 added onto my £66 bill. I did have it removed and left my own tip. It just spoils the experience when you have to ask for it to be removed, don’t put it in in the first place and no one is embarrassed. Otherwise exceptional and looking forward to returning
The menu at The Ivy definitely need to change. I have been to both the Richmond and Brum one and the only reason I went was for a friend as she’s never experienced it. I would say the staff ignored us at the table a few times. The tables were too close and we had a party of 6 turn up and they were really noisy and drunk. The food was not great I had bread and olives but the main was meant to be chicken off the bone. It wasn’t at all. Poor mains and overall the menu needs to change it’s been the same now for nearly 3 years and I’ve been going back due to family occasions. The Ivy is now a food chain I feel and it’s lost it’s charm and it’s edge.
Great food, great service, would recommend to family and friends
Great atmosphere, plenty of space between the tables, not noisy and a good menu. The beef special was splendid. Wine list comprehensive but a tad pricey.
A very busy lunch service, the staff were very efficient and friendly. The menu is quite derivative but only to be expected in a chain restaurant- you know what you will get wherever you are in the country.
Overall a very pleasant experience, we would certainly return, possibly for evening dining.
Love love love this place! Can’t wait to go back x
Service was very professional but slow, not enough staff perhaps. Noise level bordered on the cacophonous. The room is very badly designed which few soft furnishings. This detracted from what would have otherwise been an enjoyable experience. We had to raise our voices to talk across the table. I won’t go again unless this can be resolved.
Once again the Ivy was amazing - the ambience is superb, the staff very attentive and the food was excellent. My absolute favourite is the soups - last time I had cream of cauliflower and this time had white onion - it was to die for! The portion sizes on the lunchtime menu are just right. Brilliant Brilliant Brilliant Ivy thanks again ps loved the gentleman ‘s hair on reception - he looked liked Johnny Depp in Charlie and the Chocoate Factory!
