The Ivy Temple Row
First time to The Ivy in Birmingham, exceeded all expectations. Buzzing, relaxed atmosphere. Great menu choice. Discreet, prompt service. Good sized portions and great quality food. Recommend.
Nice food just when the waiting staff are discussing how long you have been at your table makes you panic and think we need to eat faster. That spoilt the experience a bit.
We went early evening and not sure if it was not enough staff to start with, but the service was atrocious. We waited 20 minutes to be asked for a drink and then another 20 before it arrived. We ordered a glass of wine to come with the meal, we had to remind them, they then sent 2 and charged us for it.
A wonderful place to eat, staff very attentive, food and drink were excellent, went for a birthday treat and they even provided a small cake and candle making the occasion more special, thank you.
To be picky - Table a little small for four people
Absolutely beautiful atmosphere with wonderful happy and friendly staff. The food is outstanding.
As always proper service from polite and knowledgeable staff.
Quality food prepared and served by skilled staff
Food was very good, waitress didn't bring my condiments I asked for however and didn't check back to see if our food was okay but overall the staff were lovely. Only complaint is it was so noisy I had to almost shout to my partner across our small table, people being so loud either side of us was quite annoying when trying to enjoy a nice dinner as we couldn't really speak to each other at all without raising our voices. Maybe space the seats out more so the atmosphere feels and sounds more like a high end restaurant as appose to a bar on a Friday night...
Overall we had a great time and the food was lovely. We had a minor hiccup when my wife's meal had to be sent back because it was delivered to the table cold however the staff worked tirelessly to make sure they rectified the issue. We were not charged for the meal and we were given coffees as an apology. The staff were fantastic and the setting is beautiful.
Will be back soon.
Super lunch time meal and a great atmosphere. Thanks
super food - as we were eating early to attend a Symphony hall concert - we needed the pre lunch drinks - Now! - they were very late - We opted for a starter and a desert - food excellent - ordered - coffee and whiskey and bill - all very delayed.
15 minutes walk to concert and was nearly too late.
7/10 - David
From booking to eating everything was spot on. Great experience and treat for all of us. Will deffinatly do it again. Thank you..........
I would highly recommend the Ivy I went for breakfast with a friend and from when we were greeted until we left it was just lovely. Staff and service and food were great
After having dined at the Ivy back in April (which was excellent) I booked for my partners birthday and it couldn’t have been a more different experience. Got off to a good start initially, sat down on time, attentive service from our first waiter and starters and wine arrived swiftly, but then things unravelled and went from bad to worse.
Mains took over half an hour to arrive after starters had been cleared away, clearly had forgotten about my partners order as this arrived piping hot, mine on the other hand had evidently been sat waiting and was lukewarm, with the side dish of spinach being cold and tasteless.
To top all of this off service was also lacking, had to ask on 2 separate occasions for our wine to be poured (held in an ice bucket away from table) as we waited for mains, and waiter could not have been less interested when we let him know that the food had arrived cold.
Previously we stayed on and had dessert and a digestif for good measure but this time it was a case of paying the bill and a swift exit. Won’t be back in a hurry which is a shame as based on previous visit had high expectations.
Beautiful restaurant, ambience great. Staff friendly, helpful and attentive. Cocktails perfect. Nibbles, starters and my wifes meal were good. Unfortunately I chose a sirloin steak. Arrived looking good and cooked to order. But the cut of meat was not of the quality I expected of the Ivy. It was substandard, sinewy throughout and very very chewy. I would have got a better steak at a pub chain, even Witherspoons. To say I was disappointed to be served this on a special evening dinner to mark our 25th anniversary is putting it mildly. You may ask why I didnt complain at the time,,, simply it was a special occasion for us and I didn't want to sour the whole occasion, the chef/buyer should be aware of the quality and consistency of the meat they serve, basic. I knew I would have an opportunity to comment through the app. They acknowledged our occasion with a complimentary dessert marked happy aniversary, which was a nice touch.
There were five people celebrating a birthday we had an attentive waiter who looked after us , the meal was excellent we had a lovely day thank you.
Very enjoyable meal celebrating 3 birthdays. Some confusion abut the menu which changed from first thing on the internet to our meal at lunch time. Unfortunately the changes didn't work for a couple of us. Service was very good and ambience very relaxing. Lovely gesture was a giant Profiterole with a lighted candle to celebrate Happy Birthday to our ladies.
We had a lovely breakfast followed by cocktails for my friends birthday. She was really pleased when her birthday cake came. We did feel it got increasingly loud as more people came in. However, we had a super time. Thank you.
We were running late, very understanding, great food, good service
All amazing staff very friendly and helpful! Coffee was very bitter but staff offered to get us another or take off bill. So very happy with the experience. Found us a table earlier than our booking which was nice.
Fabulous brunch in a beautiful restaurant. We were well spread out and had fantastic service. Will definitely be back.
Stunning decor and the staff were very pleasant and professional and courteous.
Found the food to be adequate and reasonably priced. Overall a nice experience
Great food and a beautiful restaurant. Our only gripe was the speed of service particularly the drinks. Our drinks were sat on the bar ready for quite some time and the cocktail ice had practically melted before it got to us. Main meals were absolutely stunning and tasted gorgeous. Pudding were also incredible however served a good 4/5 mins apart which was a bit of a shame. All in all definitely recommend.
A fantastic evening with no disappointments. We were served by Francesca who was beyond brilliant. Our food was exquisite and there was no disappointments. We will definitely be back.
We had a fabulous meal and waitress was lovely and very friendly however we waited quite a while for our courses so made it to theatre in the nick of time (we had allowed 2 hours) it was an hour before we received our first course.
We went to the ivy for a birthday treat and the staff made it into a great experience for us.
Would definitely recommend booking a table here.
The service was fantastic and the food even better.
Always great food at the Ivy. My only complaint is that the tables seem to be getting closer and closer.
We could of actually been part of the table next to us. This can make having a conversation sometimes difficult.
But the food is always amazing.
Amazing!! The food was incredible, the atmosphere was great, first time going to The Ivy and I’ll definitely be back
Having dined at The Ivy in Harrogate earlier this year, my expectations for this restaurant were high, and I wasn't disappointed. It's not the cheapest place to eat, nor is it for those looking for a quick meal as service isn't rushed, but the food is excellent, as were the G&Ts and wine. Would I return? Definitely.
Excellent food and the service was brilliant would definitely recommend
The meal was perfect, the was that the table took absolutely ages to clear away between courses and more so after the meal. I would not have said that the restaurant was exceptionally busy!
The service was fantastic. I think our waitress was called Michelle, she made us feel very looked after and special. Really great service
Really lovely brunch, impeccable service, food and drinks.
Amazing restaurant . Gorgeous tasty food very attentive staff.
Very very very good experience. Would definitely recommend to a friend and visit again.
This was our first visit to The Ivy since Covid and our wedding anniversary celebration in the private dining room on the top floor, eighteen months ago. The room was as pretty as it has always been. It was Saturday and very full, perhaps a touch noisy but you can always turn down the hearing-aid. Impeccable service - knowledgeable and interested. In truth, the menu is much as it was eighteen months ago but no complaints. Everything we've eaten there has been entirely acceptable - good on the plate and in the mouth. The bill was just south of second mortgage but hey, it is The Ivy
Absolutely the best fish and chips with a very generous portion. Staff were all very well turned out and professional/friendly. This was my first visit and will be back. Highly recommednded.
Absolutely amazing - food and service outstanding
