Had a very enjoyable meal for our Wedding Anniversary, very comfortable, lovely menu choice, exemplary waiting staff, front of house staff very friendly too, food was amazing, very good value and best of all, there was no hurrying you along for your table....perfect evening and will definitely return on our next trip to London!!
Booked for our Daughter’s 21st. We had afternoon tea... the table was a little small for all the tea pots etc and we weren’t sure if we could have got refills. One scone missing but tbh the person didn’t mind only having one as it happened. The scones were warm and delicious. They accommodated a food dislike .. although didn’t replace with an alternative so just had a finger of bread and butter! We loved the decor and the staff were attentive and friendly. The overall experience was one we would like to have again.
Great brunch in this beautifully designed space right by Tower Bridge, with an excellent riverside view of the Tower and the city. Lovely staff, excellent food, gorgeous drinks. Try the chocolate bombe - it’s literally the bomb. Def coming back!
As local residents we've now visited several times and really wanted to love it but I'm afraid it just isn't good enough and is in great danger of doing irreparable damage to the 'Ivy' brand. The food is absolutely fine but the service and ambiance are terrible. Throughout the evening a procession of kitchen staff wander through the middle of the restaurant wearing blue plastic gloves and carrying large black plastic washing-up bowls - it's like eating in a staff canteen. Worse than that is the service which is slow, inattentive, not very friendly and inaccurate - why do waiters try to show off by not writing down orders and then making a mess of it by forgetting things or ordering the wrong things? We had to complain several times during the meal about the slow service (including having to ask for the bill 3 times!) but this was not acknowledged and no apology was offered. The restaurant was busy and so I suppose complacency has set in.
Great evening and meal. Beautiful view of tower bridge by night which was a highlight as we were taking friends from the USA for dinner. Service was top notch and we all loved our meals and wine.
The welcome and service was very friendly and efficient. Food was yummy and well presented, albeit not super special. Atmosphere was nice, buzzing, but without impairing conversation.
Overall dinner was good. There was a noisy hen party nearby but the head waiter dealt with this very efficiently and effectively so it didn't bother us for long. Food was good although my chicken milanese was swamped with so many rocket leaves I had to pick my way through to find the small portion of chicken below; the sauce was poured on top rather than on the side so all in all the chicken was a bit soggy, as were most of the chips! Prawn cocktail was excellent and the apple tart, as always, was crisp and delicious, flambeed with calvados...it's worth going if only for the tart! The room is very attractive and, although large, is split so that it doesn't feel overwhelmingly so. All staff were friendly and service was excellent.
After a matinee of Alan Bennett's Alleluja at the Bridge Theatre
Our 2nd visit because the first was one was so good
This one not as much - my wife's salmon requested well done came undercooked
The second one slightly overcooked but the asparagus truly undercooked
Bill came charging us for 2 salmons - would have expected dessert or a glass of wine to be comped but this said service friendly
Risk that male servers get trapped by loud hen parties or tarty women
Great service, good food and good atmosphere. Will come again!
The food ambience and setting were all good but the service was extremely slow. Staff very pleasant and attentive when you were eventually served. We were there about 20 minutes when we managed to get the waiters attention to please take our drinks order. We were there at 4pm on Sunday and it wasn't super busy warranting having to wait so long to be served. Otherwise a most enjoyable afternoon and I would go again
Very enjoyable experience, good venue and lovely food
Very pleasant with a magnificent view from upstairs dining room window of life om river and very convenient for Bridge Theatre
Great waiter, really attentive and helpful.
Quick service. Staff very attentive and kind. We had breakfast and the portion sizes were big and the food was delicious! Will definitely go back on my next trip to London!
Service was fantastic great food and the views are stunning
Very classy with an amazing view , the staff were very friendly and professional
Food, location and views were all very good but sadly let down by service. They assured us that they weren’t understaffed but we felt neglected. I booked on-line and you are requested to select an occasion/add a special request - I duly advised that we were celebrating my daughter’s birthday however this was not acknowledged by the restaurant at all. Disappointing.
Very nice evening, lovely location in the shadows of tower bridge. Food goood , staff attentive but not intrusive, not too noisy so. Could. Chat quite. Easily. Prices not too bad for London. Would recommend.
Unremarkable food but good service. Shame that the corner table was a tricky setting for 3.
Average chain food at upmarket prices. My favourite was 'heritage' tomatoes that were tasteless cheap supermarket product.
We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at The Ivy. It was comfy and the service was excellent. The view was beautiful and will definitely be returning.
Appalling service - 2 of the party of 5 had starters and we waited 1 hour 49 minutes for main courses to arrive.
Too noisy! Food and venue were fabulous. Unfortunately we had to yell to communicate which spoiled the evening
Service was hilarious. No one knew what they were doing. Waitress knocking over drinks on table next to us. Our starter plates were still in the waiter’s hands when he brought mains. Senior members of the front of house staff made of promises they didn’t keep. It’s an embarrassment.
We had a pre-theatre Ivy experience before heading next door to the Bridge Theatre. Service was top notch as expected from being greeted on arrival, to the bar staff and the wait staff in the restaurant. There were good options on the pre-theatre deal to satisfy all and portion size was pleasingly good. We had a relaxed but efficient meal which is just what we needed.
Nice, buzzy atmosphere, excellent service, delicious food and drink. The restaurant has tables overlooking Tower Bridge, inside and outside.
Too many issues for a restaurant of this class, i.e. goats cheese in starter was like mouse and tasteless, bread ordered didn’t turn up till main course because they “had to bake it”. Also they kept our bottle of Prosecco at the counter and our waiter didn’t know it was there and cleared our glasses so we had to tell him about it.
Food was good, menu had a decent selection, amazing views from the patio. Took thirty+ minutes to order food on a Wednesday evening, and they keep your wine bottle which would be fine but they weren’t great about refills - I sat for a while with an empty glass. Once the food came though it was decent and quite big portions for the price. (Steak was not cooked as ordered but was too hungry to say anything). Also getting the bill and paying took a long time. Overall great location, good food, but service was lacking.
The food was cooked to perfection and well presented and would certainly recommend to friends. The service was just a tad slow.
Very good but we had to wait 40mins for our desserts.
As we were going to the Bridge theatre next door we became unsettled as we had to keep looking at our watches then we rushed and couldn't have a coffee.
Great food and a lovely setting. Never got our dessert despite ordering and waiting 20' before we had to leave!
Disappointed with this experience unfortunately. Food wasn’t cooked to the usual standard and had to wait long for a table even though empty ones in front of us.
Good location, nice ambience, food good but brought down by very slow service. Staff were polite and helpful when they appeared!!
As usual food was excellent only to be let down by service. Desserts took 30minutes despite being promised them in a “few” moments twice.
Great food and world class scenery of the Thames and the City.
Very enjoyable visit. Only comment woukd be the tables are a little close together
Delicious food. Service at the bar and at our table was exceptional; service at reception upon entering was poor.
I booked a table to sit outside a week before as my sons 18th so I knew I had the table confirmed. On the day they were unable to seat us outside which was disappointing. They also kept us waiting at reception while they tried to get us seated. My point is what is the point in having a booking system to reserve a table. The waitress was lovely and the food nice. I would have given it an overall exceptional but not having a table we booked for in advance and being left at reception bought the service down in the ratings.
Very nice & comfortable. Quick efficient but friendly service. Set menu very good value. Excellent location next to the new Bridge Theatre.
The food was clearly pre-prepped and a bit dry therefore. The service was not good at all. After our food arrived no one came back to see if we wanted desert or coffee or even more drinks. We managed to get the attention of waiting staff, who acknowledged us, but then never came over to us. We then waited 20 mins for the bill to arrive, having asked the same waiter three times for it. I have been to other Ivy Restaurants and the service has been very good. Perhaps we just had a bad day? Either way, it was disappointing and embarrassing since I was entertaining a client at lunch and had recommended the restaurant to them.
