Before ready any more of this review please note that ALL the staff we interacted with were brilliantly friendly and totally overwhelmed with what they had to do. I have dined at this any many other Ivy. This occasion stood out as being really quite uncharacteristically terrible. We had to endure sitting at a table literally surrounded by the detritus of 7 other tables that were not cleared from the previous diners. Not one of the tables was cleared of the used crockery/glasses/napkins etc whilst we were there. It was a long wait until Starters arrived and well over 1 hour before Mains were served. And what was served was typical pub-style, Brake Bros grub. No better in quality or presentation. Throughout our time in the restaurant, EVERY serving station we could see was piled-high with trays of old glasses and the plastic empty bottle carriers. Again nothing was cleared at any time. My raising these concerns with the staff last night gave the as-expected answer of Brexit/Covid staff shortages and it has been this way for many months. I of course believe them. The point to make is: I am sure the restaurant management know that there are insufficient staff to meet the "normal" Ivy service level. Knowing this, why do they continue to take bookings or walk-ins at a level that exceeds their capacity to provide this? It smacks of greed. All the staff who were on the floor last night were working soooo hard. We spent over £100 for a 2 course meal (not even inc wine) that was delivered late and in a restaurant ambience that a lot worse than a Little Chef. If this is the new standard, I cannot see how it is worth coming back to any Ivy again. Unless this was a single abberation vs the staff saying it had been like it for months. So disappointing after so many years of being a regular patron.

First time at this Ivy restaurant after a disappointing time at a previous one a few months earlier. Arrived an hour early but were still able to be seated at a table in a fairly good position. Staff were very attentive and efficient, orders were taken quickly and enought time was allowed between courses. A bottle of house red wine was ordered and was very nice. Food arrived and after having 3 course's all I can say is, excellent. We really enjoyed our meal here and will certainly visit again.

Poor service, had to ask for everything. Food was given without cutlery and the waiter was quite rude saying ‘I’m coming’ returning 5 minutes later when the food is already going cold!

Just visited for the first time for a meal with a friend, we were very lucky to get a window seat overlooking the Tower Bridge so had beautiful views. The staff were all fantastic so welcoming and helpful. We both had the Chicken Milanese which was beautiful and a very big portion however you do need to order any sides you would like separately. We both had a cocktail and they were amazing. The decor is beautiful including the toilets! We will 100% return again the next time we are in London.

The hottest day of the year, drinks took 40 minutes to arrive, then after the meal having been told we could sit at the bar for drinks, were told by another member of staff to leave, quite bizarre.

While making the booking , I made clear that it was my daughter’s 21st birthday. However I felt that no effort was made to make her experience/ rememble at the ivy . Her boyfriend had to tell the staff it was her birthday, plus when they sang to her they didn’t even know my daughter name they used her surname

Was ok, we were celebrating a Birthday so wanted it to be special but we waited a long time , for our food. We were given the wrong food at first that should have gone to another table , and was taken away after we had put salt and pepper on, not very good. But turned out ok in the end and food and drink was delicious and even had a Happy Birthday cake and candle was lovely, so thku we will be back

Awful service - waited over 30 minutes for 2 drinks before giving up and leaving. Service was terrible. Staff were inattentive and it was difficult to get updates on the status of our order. It was not busy - I would hate to see how useless the service is when the place was full.

We had a seat out side over looking tower bridge. The service was leisurely and the food thoroughly tasty. We ate off the set menu. Apple and grape salad and the soup went down extremely well. The Salmon was a firm favourite for the mains. As was shortbread, strawberries and ice cream. Although we sat outside the interior is truly stunning.

The ambiance and decor of the restaurant were wonderful but the service and food were lacking. I enjoyed my cocktail and had to wait a long time before someone took our order. The appetizer was a cheese soufflé which was decent and had a nice texture but lacked depth of flavor. The mains were accompanied by wonderfully made sauces, but the food items were just good. I ordered a grilled fillet which was cooked to my liking but was not nearly as tender as it’s price would yield. The sides were nothing to complain about but also were not exceptional. My girlfriend got the chicken Milanese and did not like the preparation in comparison to other restaurants. It was somewhat burnt on the edges, the seasoning was fine, it lacked lemon to add some fresh acidity, and the topping with Parmesan was not great. Overall, however, we had a good experience and the ambiance made up for a lot of the down falls of the food.
