The Ivy Winchester Brasserie
With approximately 150 seats, guests will be able to enjoy the main restaurant and bar, as well as a Parisian-style terrace during the warmer months. The brasserie’s all-encompassing menus offers a wide selection of British classics and internationally-inspired dishes, from the iconic shepherd’s pie to the spoiling Champagne afternoon tea and Ivy Royale cocktail.
The Ivy Winchester Brasserie offers a sophisticated yet relaxed atmosphere, holding back a number of tables each day for locals, visitors and passers-by wishing to drop in at their leisure
The place was full and the atmosphere was buzzing. The food was delicious and the apple tart was truly superb.
Beautiful restaurant, excellent staff, and gorgeous food. I had the American pancakes, they were really lovely. This visit was my 3rd, it’s been excellent each time.
A lovely place to eat with attentive staff. Two of our dishes were tepid on arrival. The one that was mentioned was quickly heated up again, with an offer to remake it, but our choice was for it to be made warmer. Very good vegetarian menu.
We have spoken to the manager regarding our experience on Wednesday and have been offered to come back again on the house. Really hoping the waiter experience is so much better and the place and food is lovely
Lovely meal for my Wife's 50th birthday. Food was delicious, the staff were very friendly and the whole atmosphere of the resteraunt was lovely. I would thoroughly recommend it, great value for money (just a little bit more than a good pub) and a lovely place to spend a few hours.
Great atmosphere, splendid service, good food at a good price. Always enjoy eating here.
Another lovely meal, just slightly disappointed that the creamed spinach contained whole leaves - expected it to be more chopped.
The food and service were wonderful. However, I do think it is an expensive restaurant and therefore wouldn’t recommend to friends. 3 drinks, 3 appetisers and 2 mains cost £100
We had a nice meal, it was very busy and pretty noisy in the main part. Our seats were near the window and gave some respite from the clamour but it is a lovely place, very polite staff, who did well under pressure.
Another great lunch at the Ivy Winchester. Very busy but we had brilliant service. I would definitely recommend the two course lunch menu.
Very lovely restaurant. Food was superb. I did notice a slight difference in service level between staff and customers - for instance the couple in front of me were offered their coats to be stored in the cloakroom, but I wasn't offered this so I kept it with me, dripping wet and hanging off the back of my chair. That seemed likewise across the party as some folk still had their coats whilst others had had them taken. Service was a little slow at times - we waited half an hour form first asking for the bill, then reasking, then it finally turning up. But it's clearly a very lovely restaurant, and I wouldn't hesitate going back again.
Excellent starter and desert, but sadly the main was extremely basis - Chicken Maleana. More like a Bernard Matthews piece of chicken topped with a fried egg and thick Truffle and Parmesan sauce. Expected something better than what was served, I made a complaint and this was taken off my bill- thank the Ivy for that.
Good food, well presented. Table service very good. Disappointed with attitude of front of house staff, wait in the bar for table to be prepared but no seats.
No "good night, hope you enjoyed your evening, hope to see you again etc" when we left.
I always enjoy the food and ambiance at The Ivy - went to one in Glasgow in September too for lunch.
The service was initially slow so it was a good time none of us were in a hurry.
As seems to be the wont in so many ENGLISH restaurants, the noise level of some of the other people was unnecessarily high with raucous laughing and loud conversations. This isn't a criticism peculiar to The Ivy though_ it seems to be a cultural thing of the English these days!
I would give the Ivy 5 stars in every respect, but I mark it down because of the appalling canned music. The place is always packed full, the chatter is loud, but in the background one is aware of a thumping bass sound, it is all that one can make out of what must be an attempt to provide some 'atmosphere'... According to the manager it's company policy to have this inane racket going on interminably, it can't be turned down, or better still terminated... The place is so good that I put up with it, but under protest, and wish that enough like minded regular customers will eventually persuade the management to listen to us, not some awful marketing directive.
Wonderful greeting by reception, coats taken prior to entry to restaurant. Seated by bar whilst table was being prepared.
Table near window which was wonderful, slightly disappointed that seat covered in crumbs. Inspite of this the actual meal was wonderful although the starter was warm .
Waiter was delightful and very attentive. Presented with a small treat for our anniversary, much appreciated.
Will definitely return.
Been here a couple of times, quite nice food and lovely decor but the acoustics are dreadful and they were rather understaffed. I also fail to understand why the hostesses, and yes they are all women, are made to wear sleeveless dresses, in this freezing weather. Very 1980’s!
Unfortunately I feel the restaurant has just lost its edge at the moment. My husband and I visited at lunchtime, 2.00pm. We were shown to a lovely table, and our server was really pleasant and friendly. However my main course was truly awful! I ordered fish cakes, with a side order of chips and green beans ... when the food arrived the presentation was perfect. Sadly the green beans were almost raw .... not al dente, but raw, I think perhaps they had been warmed only, they definitely hadn’t been steamed. The poached egg was also undercooked, and placed on the fish cake with a lot of water, which in turn made the fish cake soggy, in fact it was very wet and inedible. Our server did take it away and told me she’d inform the manager, she didn’t offer a replacement, but did ask me if I wanted to eat the chips. As the manager did not come to speak to me I informed our server that I would not pay for my main meal....obviously as I had not been able to eat it!! The bill arrived with deduction of my main meal, as the manager was passing as I was checking it I did also suggest the service charge should be removed... which he did. I do think in hind sight it would have been a good customer service idea to offer free coffee or a similar gesture, especially as the manager agreed that the problem meal was a result of the kitchen being under pressure. Whilst this was the reason, it’s not a great excuse, and certainly not me, the customers, fault! The table of four next to ours did say to us their meals were rather disappointing. I will be interested to hear your views on this.

This venue never disappoints in its food, service and buzzy atmosphere.
I believe Ella was our waitress. She was attentive, good humoured, professional and warm and friendly.
The venison was delicious! A perfect way to celebrate my husbands 60 th birthday.
Simply ingredients extremely well cooked
Service spot on
Looking forward to eating here again!
We had to send one of our meals back as it was cold and the others were warm rather than hot. The cold meal was quickly replaced and apology made so we felt that was well handled. However we had a similar situation the last time we visited the restaurant, so two unlucky experiences.
Extremely slow service, food wasn’t as good as we expected and fish and chips were very greasy. Even topped off by a glass with left over gin and tonic and ice being spilt over my Mum.
Lovely atmosphere but not sure we will be rushing back.
Had a bit of a mixup with our order but it was pleasantly resolved by all concerned.
Ridiculous policy of “timing” table useage .... we turned up at 12.30 for a 1.00 booking but were told we would be “on the clock” and would have to leave in 2.5 hours. So, we walked the streets and the table sat empty for half an hour! Where’s the sense in that? We could have sat down at 12.30 and had an aperitif which would have increased your profit! Really can not see the logic in this restriction.
Wonderful service, quick service, lovely food. Great experience
We had a wonderful meal. The food was absolutely delicious, the setting was wonderful, the atmosphere was cracking, and the staff were brilliant! Can''t say fairer than that!
I had 4 tables of 4 booked and each table thoroughly enjoyed the Ivy experience . I am a regular customer at varying different Ivy restaurants and had recommended the venue and am pleased to say no one was disappointed..... thank you and well done.
We had a fantastic lunch to celebrate our friends 40th and couldn't fault the service or food. The Ivy is my new favourite place and i hope to return soon!
Very slow service, very pleasant but very unattentive.
Two emails were sent ahead of the booking with dietary requirements, which was shocking to see, these were ignored & food was delivered with the allergens in them.
If the guests were celiac, it could have been very serious. Very unhappy with this
Great place to go for brunch with friends, warm friendly atmosphere with great service and good food
We had a lovely time at the Winchester Ivy- 5 of us for a birthday breakfast. The service was very good and the room decor is beautiful.
Lovely festive atmosphere, staff attentive and welcoming. Food excellent although it took quite a time to come and it is expensive! But for a special occasion would definitely go again.
I have visited The Ivy before so knew what to expect.
The service is great and the decor is special.
The food choice is good with something for most tastes.
Lovely atmosphere... staff warm and attentive. Lots of delicious choices on the menu. All dishes chosen were perfect.... great wine too. It was a lovely lovely evening.
I had heard great things about the Ivy and have to say that it exceeded my expectations.
The service, the choice and the food are fantastic. It's expensive, but not over-priced and certainly worth what you pay for it.
I would recommend the Ivy - but I have to say our experience on 2 occasions has not initially started well - each time the gentlemen on reception has not been welcoming on a walk in basis. He argued with us that they saved space at the bar for those that had dinner reservations and when we said we were happy to sit outside he was trying to put us off.. we did anyways and while sat I looked online and there was 4 available dinner reservations for 5-10mins time so I booked one! While waiting the manager had wandered out to see the crazy people outside (it was cold) - we explained why and what had happened and he was very apologetic - put the heaters on and actually offered to pay for the drink we had ordered before dinner. The service inside was amazing as well as the food and the ambiance- we do love this place but this one person can ruin the experience and it’s a shame he is on the front of house! Everyone else there was amazing and friendly!
Food was good and simple. Wine OK, but more selection of whites & Rose. Service a little rushed.
Great atmosphere, lovely food and polite staff. Will definitely return.
My third visit to the Ivy in Winchester this time brought my girlfriends they absolutely loved it. The food was delicious, the service spot on and the ambience prefect for festive cheer and celebrations. We will all be back soon!!
The early set menu is very good & fairly priced. Service is excellent. I would prefer the music to be much quieter & less driving bass
