Lunch at The Ivy Winchester. Great value set lunch menu. Lovely environment and great service. We will return!
Wonderful evening. The food was great and fantastic service.
Great staff and atmosphere food was Ok but overall experience was really lovely :)
Nice décor. Poor service. Satisfactory food. Good value. Convenient location.
Took grandmother out for lunch for her 85 Birthday
Visited here on Sunday, after attending the remembrance day service at Winchester cathedral, the greeting was very good and our coats taken. We were shown to our seats and given menus. The drinks were very expensive, 1 small glass of wine and a gin and tonic were £22. The food was very good, we had a very pleasant lunch, but will only be back as a very special treat! Little details like putting napkins on laps, and the g&t could have been in a much nicer glass rather than a tumbler.
A lovely restaurant with excellent service and good food- a lovely evening will definitely be back
Excellent meal, really good atmosphere and staff were very polite and efficient service.
Couldn’t fault it.
Look forward to returning again soon.
Had a great evening celebrating my wife’s birthday. Great food 👍
Very happy with level of service and the atmosphere was buzzing. Food was good but not fantastic
I love being in the Ivy - I love the ambience and the service. My only criticism is that when we arrived and sat at the bar we took a long time to be served and there were dirty glasses on the bar in front of us which weren't removed for about 10 minutes. I know they were busy but that would have only taken seconds to move. Our Cosmopolitans were gorgeous though.
Lovey people, very attentive, good food at a price you would expect for the Ivy. We had a very young waitress taking drink orders and she was a little too enthusiastic - the first time she barged in to interrupt our conversation was forgivable. By the time it had happened 3 times I was frustrated. Perhaps she could take a moment to pause, wait for us to notice her and then stop talking so she could take our order. Just polite really!
I felt the service and the quality did not reflect the pedigree one would expect from the Ivy.
We had a table in the Butter Cross room, recommended if you wish to have a conversation with your companions. The main restaurant is busy, buzzy and very loud
We waited far too long between courses and waiters would not catch our eye to enable us to enquire. Service is normally fantastic at The Ivy and this was a disappointment; the food however did not disappoint.
Amazing place! Great night out and excellent food! Xxxx
I booked for a group of eight for a celebratory dinner. The service was excellent start to finish and the place was buzzing with a great vibe. Everyone enjoyed their food, most had three courses and the wine selection is excellent. Everyone commented how much they enjoyed the evening, the food and the ambience. A little noisier than I would have liked but that really didn’t matter as we had such a great time.
Family get together, great food, and a brilliant server
Excellent ..... first visit ..... will be back. What more can I say we spent a most enjoyable evening.
I’ve been to an Ivy Brasserie before and so decided to take my mum to the Winchester one for birthday lunch. The service is very good, but we were both a bit underwhelmed with our mains. Mum had the Shepherds pie and I had a chicken dish off the lunch set menu. Both lacked seasoning and just ‘ok’. Not poor enough to send back, but not special enough to warrant the price tag and reputation. We left feeling a bit meh and whilst I wouldn’t write off going again, as I’ve had positive experience before, I won’t be eager to return.
Great atmosphere & food, service can be slow at peak lunch ch times.
We had an excellent lunch. The Fish and Chips were extremely well done and tasty. Nice touch to have the lemon slice wrapped in muslin. My open Avocado and prawn open sandwich was delicious - such huge prawns. The ambience is great and although it is a little noisy at times it adds to the atmosphere. The Art Deco decoration is excellent and we like the mix of old Winchester pictures and the Art Deco work. A memorable lunch and we will certainly go again for a special occasion. We have already had an afternoon tea there which was equally as good.
Brunch at The Ivy is a real treat in Winchester. Lovely staff, beautiful dining room and not crowded at all. My friends’ pastries looked lovely and I had a beautifully cooked poached eggs on granary toast. We weren’t rushed, service was excellent and well timed. Thank you!
Lovely evening as always, celebrating the last night of my mum’s visit.
very comfortable , only complaint is after asking for strong breakfast tea pot came with only one teabag !! Not enough for size of pot. Next visit will ask for more tea bags.
What a lovely restaurant and fabulous staff - only spoiled by the noise level. Carpeting the floor with something other than a simple runner would really go some way to improving the whole experience. I was having to shout to my guest to make myself heard - and he to me.
Thank you so much for making a rare date night so special! My fiancé’s birthday was acknowledged straight away and we felt really looked after and spoilt by all staff! The food was divine and the service was the best we’ve ever had. Thank you so much The Ivy Winchester, we cant wait to come back!
Always a lively venue even on a Sunday evening, we enjoyed our evening. The only thing which was mildly irritating was that the staff began clearing tables around us to set them up for the morning which was distracting. Given it was only 8pm, it would have been nice if they could have waited a bit longer. I appreciate they’ve probably had a long day and want to get away on time, but we are paying for a certain experience and atmosphere.
We went for breakfast on a busy Sunday morning. Wait for food was moderate but we were kept informed and received an apology for this. Food was excellent (vegetarian breakfast). Lovely coffee. Service maybe a little over attentive!
Beautiful place. It was a noisy Saturday night but luckily we were at the end of the restaurant where it was quieter. Lovely food and the service was very good. Would recommend. Want to try the brunch menu now.
We had a wonderful evening, great food, amazing service and lovely ambience. Highly recommend!
Food was cold
A lot of money for what it was
This is the third time we have visited and we enjoyed the whole experience. Cocktails were lovely. Special mention about the chocolate bombe, excellent.
Very noisey and a little pretentious. Frenetic. Nice food. The staff were quite theatrical but very attentive.
We had a fabulous meal. The service was excellent and I would definitely return
We found the service and food very good . But it was so noisy to the point that it wasn’t worth talking to each other because shouting isn’t a good look when your trying to enjoy your meal which you have saved up for .
All the right ingredients to make a perfect dining experience! Every restaurant should be like this!
Amazing vibe, first class service and food was outstanding. Will definitely be back!
I have been here on a number of occasions and always enjoy the style and atmosphere with great pictures and bar . However I always forget when booking to say I do not want one of the tiny tables around the corner as you come in. The area has a v different feel to it and to me feels like that they have just crammed in 2/3 extra tables too many. I would therefore always suggest you ask for a table in the main restaurant area. The food is normally always a safe bet. Think Cote Brasserie with panache. I had the special which was a rabbit shepherds pie. It was very disappointing. Dry stringy meat and in sat like a lump in my tummy for hours afterwards. My wife had lobster and was pleased with it, albeit a bit tough. These and fried zucchini and two glasses of wine for £100 does not seem very good value for money.
I will go again. However if I experience the same again, I won’t go again.
