The Ivy Winchester Brasserie
With approximately 150 seats, guests will be able to enjoy the main restaurant and bar, as well as a Parisian-style terrace during the warmer months. The brasserie’s all-encompassing menus offers a wide selection of British classics and internationally-inspired dishes, from the iconic shepherd’s pie to the spoiling Champagne afternoon tea and Ivy Royale cocktail.
The Ivy Winchester Brasserie offers a sophisticated yet relaxed atmosphere, holding back a number of tables each day for locals, visitors and passers-by wishing to drop in at their leisure
My son and I had pancakes and both swapped the fruit for bacon. Thought it a bit mean that I was charged £7 extra for the bacon! £18 for six small pancakes a bit much!
Live music is lovely but can make it too hard to hear what you dinner guests are saying.
Our waiter was very professional, attentive and friendly. Really enjoyed the experience.
Wonderful welcoming service, beautifully presented food and a lovely atmosphere. Definitely would recommend for a treat.
It is the third time I came to eat and appreciate your winchester Brasserie , always for lunch time :
1st time just before Christmas with set menu (working days) that was very very good - top value
Second time was a Saturday lunch still sutisfactory,
Last Tuesday lunch time always set menu ...I frankly noticed smaller portion than previously , the batter cod was good inside but too oiled outside - chips good but nothing special and on top of that ...the bill was wrong - asking (for one of us ) a 3 set menu instead 2 courses.
Probably it was due to the change turn time of service waiters (was about 3 or 3.30 pm) but is a bit annoying when happens also because I brought a friend and she invited me ...
Better to inform you
Anyway see you again
We had a table for 8 people which was oval shaped so we could all talk to each other easily. Food / service and staff were all fabulous - everyone in our party were very happy with their food, so we will definitely return in the near future.
Perfect for brunch. Tasty real and virgin bloody Marys
Tasty main dishes.
Great ambience in heart of Winchester
Only OK, nothing special. 2 guests with birthdays to celebrate but no special effort or treatment given.
A little disappointed. Very expensive.
I was really looking forward to dining at The Ivy and we were treating my sister and her husband who were celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary.
Unfortunately we were rather disappointed on several levels.
On arrival our table wasn’t quite ready, which wasn’t a problem and we waited at the bar. However, it was a good 10 minutes wait before we were served at the bar. We then ordered a round of drinks from our table a little later and after waiting 20 minutes we asked if the drinks would be coming soon. The man we spoke to assured us he would ensure they were on their way, but another 10 minutes went by before we then caught his attention again. A few minutes after our second time of asking they arrived. Each time we asked we received no apology for the wait but just felt like we were being annoying for asking.
The food was nice but the quail’s egg on my husband’s starter was very hard and the chips with his main course looked and tasted like they had been re-heated. However, the butternut squash curry was lovely.
If we hadn’t been out for a special occasion we would have spoken to someone about the food we were unhappy with but we didn’t want to spoil the evening when we had already had to keep chasing our drinks.
On the whole, we had a nice evening but attention to detail was missing in terms of service. Also the waiter did his job but absolutely nothing else to make us feel welcome. This was not his fault, as he appeared to be completely rushed off his feet and had no time for a smile
or a simple hello greeting. The whole
evening lacked the personal touch.
The only item that we asked for that came immediately was the bill and that was probably because it was so busy and our table was needed for other diners.
As I previously mentioned this was a special anniversary dinner and I chose The Ivy with high expectations of a great evening. Unfortunately all four of us came away disappointed.
Service faultless. In back room but still quite noisy. Very busy throughout but staff kept moving and were no delays. Food was very good, well cooked and well presented. Reason I didn't give a 5 star is could have been hotter but absolutely recommend.
Fabulous restaurant. Beautiful setting. Really nicely looked after by the staff. Dinner was so good we went back the following morning for breakfast!
I’ve been to multiple Ivy restaurants in London and greater London but have to say this was the worst by some margin.
There were lots and lots of staff but somehow the service was pretty poor. The food wasn’t very good at all; starters were under seasoned, drinks didn’t really have any power, mains were bland and not very well cooked (one actually taken off the bill because it was so overdone) and despite being seated late we were ‘chivvied’ along 25 minutes before our ‘allotted’ lunch window to make room for the next punters.
Really very poor indeed I’m sorry to say.
Having visited on several occasions for either special or just casual occasions we have always felt like a VIP. The whole experience has always been of the same high standard and we enjoy the quality of the food the drinks and service would recommend the Ivy to anyone who likes a quality experience.
Lovely atmosphere. Great bar and service. Attentive but not OTT staff. Good lunch ... excellent selection of differing meal choices.
First time here and for a family birthday celebration breakfast. We were very well looked after. Menu was varied and interesting. Food was wholesome and well presented.
Looking forward to next visit
We enjoyed the food; service through the majority of the meal was excellent until we had finished main course, when we didn’t see our waitress again and had from then on to try to catch someone’s attention to request dessert, bill etc. Aside from this we did find the music very monotone (only one bass note could be heard) and wondered whether the same track was on repeat. In contrast the dinner jazz playing in the Toilet sounded great!
Beautiful food, great atmosphere and location would definitely recommend
Ok, but just Ok, not living up to its reputation. Expensive. Prefer Brasserie Blanc
Very friendly staff, lovely atmosphere, we were sat in the private dining room however the main restaurant was very noisy. The food was amazing, the service was really quick too.
Love the restaurant , always feel very welcome , can be a little noisy at times ,but tables not too close together. Prefer the booths.
Food good and fresh.
Booked this as a treat for my husband. As usual it was pleasant with excellent food and good wine. Waiters were courteous but neither obsequious or inattentive.
Breakfast - day off
Disappointing breakfast - one order taken incorrectly . Had to ask for sauces and chase up the toast . Coffee poor and had to ask 2 different people for the bill . Nothing special for the price - not what you expect from the Ivy !!
The ambiance was vibrant. The vegetarian food was excellent I had shepherds pie. It was my birthday and it was lovely place to celebrate my birthday.
However we did find service very slow it took ages for our table to be cleared after main course which stopped us ordering deserts.
I do feel as you added a rather steep service charge it stops the staff being attentive.
Disappointing on the service front.
Really lovely relaxed meal in lovely surroundings. Great service, lush food.
The attention to detail was outstanding , down to the surprise birthday dessert fro my Grandaughter. Thank-you
My son’s 21st birthday.
A little noisy with a jazz duo playing - a little bit too loud considering our proximity to them how we other than that it was another excellent evening at the restaurant with great service and lovely food.
We had a lovely time for my Nan’s 80th.. They really went above and beyond to give us a special night.. They also had live music but sat us in the corner where it was quiet.. That kind of attention to detail is so appreciated!
The food was very nice and looked spectacular.. I just felt personally the egg and steak didn’t quite go well, as well as the crab and watermelon. But I’m no chef myself, that was just personal preference.. But the ingredients separately was very high quality!
Maisie our server was lovely, very attentive and made sure we had a great time - thank you!
They also brought out a cute little cake and candle for Nan.. Just these little touches that Nan really appreciated!
Lovely lunch, super food, as ever great staff but very noisy for elderly parents.
Unfortunately when the waiter bought over our 2 glasses of champagne To start - one was put down on the table & the other spilt absolutely all over me! Of course it was an accident- luckily it was champagne, if it had been red wine this would have been expensive for you as it went all over my bag, bag strap, trousers, jumper & shirt. It was very uncomfortable I had to sit with wet clothes despite have patted dry, the replacement glass of champagne also took a very long time to appear considering what had just happened. The staff were however apologetic & did not charge for the champagne but to be honest the experience ruined the whole lunch as it was rather embarrassing & eating it sticky wet clothes was not great! Please train staff before letting them loose!
Excellent as ever
Big fan of the Ivy. Only minor criticism is my son ordered the regular Shepherd's Pie and we felt it was very small for the price. Vegan Pie much bigger!
Beautiful decor, and lovely food. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Reasonably expensive but this would not be an everyday restaurant for us so great for a special occasion.
Wasn't expecting the service charge on the bill, this was unusual for a party of two we thought.
First visit - loved the atmosphere. I had the mushrooms with rosti and truffles(good) followed by the Blackened cod (outstanding) my partner was not so impressed by the shepherds pie however. We then shared a sundae which was also very good. We will return and I will order exactly the same again - may even attempt the cod at home.
Lovely atmosphere, courteous staff, plenty of time between courses and excellent food.
A lovely environment for a lunch with grandparents. Our server was very attentive and the food was amazing. Would recommend and will return!
Really enjoyed our visit to The Ivy, will definitely be back!!
Excellent service-efficient but friendly. Food was very good. As a couple we like sitting in the banquette (hope that’s the right word/spelling!). It meant we could talk easily and also look out onto the restaurant area itself. The decor was fantastic - liked all the artwork on the walls. Background music needed to be more in the background with less bass. Looking forward to our next visit for lunch with friends.
Another fabulous dining experience many thanks
We loved our time there and felt everything was extremely well presented. Well done, it was lovely.
