Food was very good as was the service. However, when being shown to our table I did have to ask to be moved to somewhere else as there was a dog laying on the floor right where I needed to walk. Although I accept it is a country pub and dog friendly, I do not really want to sit next to a dog (and the table was very close to where the dog owner was sitting) while I am eating food. The waitress was very good and moved us to an alternative table without any fuss. Pub was lovely and warm with a lit fire either end of the bar area. Toilets (I judge establishments by the condition of their facilities) were excellent and very clean.

Nice friendly welcome , lovely fires , warm and comfortable atmosphere with nice Christmas decorations but not overstated. Excellent service , lovely food , most reasonably price but thought steak a bit pricey. Very enjoyable experience all round.

A lovely setting, good choice of menu and attractive interior. Tables not too close together (which I hate) and a good variety of food on the menu. The service was excellent and friendly, without begin overbearing. Thank you.

Fantastic food, lovely setting in beautifully renovated pub. All the servers were attentive and polite but it took way too long (about 40 mins from ordering) for our deserts to be served and we had to chase up our order of coffees. However, this was the only blip on a hugely enjoyable visit.

Beautiful location, bit hard to get to on a single track road though! Staff were lovely and the pub was really nice. Fish and chips were overcooked, rather over crispy unfortunately

Have been coming here for years and al eats a great atmosphere and great food. It was a shame the lamb had already gone for lunch, doesn’t seem to matter if we come early or late, it’s always gone. Maybe ask people to rebook ahead if there is something they really want?

A gem in the depths of the Hampshire countryside. A great ambiance and totally dog friendly. A solid menu of unusual dishes, beautifully presented. A cosy bar with traditional ales and an excellent wine list. We will certainly be back!

Pricey ! The fish and chips were excellent . The ravioli was full of delicate flavours but a stingy portion for a main so we had to add in a bread order which was also tasty . I would pay more for a larger portion.

The Jack Russel never fails to be an amazing evening out. Dinner was incredible, all of the staff were incredibly knowledgeable and friendly and went the extra mile. If there were more stars to give, they'd get them!

We had dinner as part of our overnight stay. Although we had booked into the restaurant, we decided we would stay in the Bar where we had had our pre-dinner drinks. It was all very comfortable, service was excellent and the presentation of the food very appetising.

Overall an enjoyable experience. However the Sunday menu was far more restrictive than expected. My daughters children meal was average as the pasta was ‘watery’. The sage ravioli was a very small size for the price and my eldest daughter was somewhat underwhelmed by it compared to the roast chicken which was a good size and far better value. My mothers desert which was the Chocolate cremeaux was very difficult to cut. However the service was excellent, just a shame the experience not quite as good as our previous visit. Likely we would not return on a Sunday.

We celebrated a birthday lunch at the Jack Russell, and it was an excellent experience all round. Food was delicious, the atmosphere was fun and family (and dog!) oriented, and the service was really brilliant. Attentive but not intrusive. We brought our two dogs as well and they were very happy there. We will be back!

Fabulous pub. Friendly and attentive staff. The food? Well, we intended to have just a main course because it was lunch. However, the special starter of crispy pork belly in sweet chilli sauce was just too wonderful to resist. It was Friday so there was a separate fish menu with a great choice of fish dishes. My request to swap the peas with some buttered kale, was no problem. After all that we just had to have dessert too. All of it was delicious.

One of the best meals I’ve ever had. Thanks for a brilliant evening. Lovely restaurant with cosy atmosphere and a mix of sociable and private tables. The waiting staff were incredibly attentive and knowledgeable and the food was simply fantastic and with enough variety to satisfy all of our group. We’ve been many times before and it seems to get better and better.
