Tapas / Small Plates
"The Jellied Eel is a unique cocktail bar located in the Grade II listed, Art Deco interior of Manze’s pie and mash shop on Walthamstow Market. We’re open every Friday and Saturday night for inventive cocktails, gourmet croquetas and delicious Mediterranean small plates. The beautiful and historic interior and intimate wooden booths are a perfect match for a quiet drink or a raucous birthday celebration, and everything in between. On warm evenings, our secret courtyard garden is a cool escape for an al fresco cocktail.

Wonderful slice of history, washed down with sublime cocktails and a side order of mouth watering delicacies - would definitely recommend.

Food and drinks are top notch and reasonably priced - billing system struggled to cope with half price promotion I think so caused some confusion but staff are very friendly and professional so sorted with no drama. I was probably harsh on three stars for service because of that.

We loved this place! The setting was so unique and the cocktails, as well as bar food, were so tasty. The staff were smiley and friendly - it's an amazing little place to head to at the weekend in Walthamstow and we will be back!

Only thing I didn't enjoy was the constant filming!

I love the concept of the Jellied Eel and wanted to support local venture, however it didn’t really live up to the hype. The main problem was extremely slow and quite frankly lack of service, I have never before had my food arrive before my drinks! We were shown to our table and then pretty much left to our own devises. If we wanted service we had to go and find it ourselves drinks order turned up incomplete. There was only one bar tender fixing all the drinks and 2 front of house staff who after an hour seemed to have given up. Such a shame as the one cocktail I did manage to get was absolutely delicious.

It was really busy and the food was pretty hit and miss. Some good plates and some really bad. The cocktails were good though!
Service was very slow and I felt like they kept forgetting about us. We had to go up twice to find someone to ask for our bill.

Great food and cocktails. Amazing decor and great atmosphere. Some good vegetarian/vegan options. Loved the leek croquettes, mushrooms and sweet potato fries.

Brilliant cocktail selection, between seven of us we tasted them all. Ordered the whole food menu between us as well and couldn’t fault any of it. Booths seat six comfortably, eight at a push (if two are on the small side). Really lovely vibe all round - will definitely be back

I confess that we did not try the cocktails, which is pronably the main reason for coming here. However the setting is great. It was difficult to detect the difference between the croquettes although they were pleasant enough. The tapas was fine but not exceptional.
