Always enjoy Sunday lunch at The Jolly Tanners. The Landlord and staff are very welcoming and friendly and they make a great fuss of dogs. The food was absolutely delicious. Roast beef cooked to perfection and the trifle took us back to our childhood. Efficient, friendly service in what remains a ‘proper’ pub. Can’t fault it.
Very friendly, nice menu. Specials on the board. Good value for money
First visit to this pub for food. Really good choice of food , friendly helpful staff and very good value for money.
Excellent food, personal service. Decor has been refreshed which make do a much better ambience. Will come again!
Classic pub.. rost simple but nice.. not too big...friendly atmosphere.
I live in Canada. Wonderful meal. Will be back again next year!
Was pleasantly suprised on a sunny Sunday afternoon. All had roasts and good home cooked food. Large garden out the back if it is a sunny day and very friendly staff. Would recommend it and will probably visit again.
A proper old English pub, great food and service ,would definitely recommend .Hope to return soon.
Its a real old english pub. The beer is well kept and there is a great range of decent ales. The pub is in a well used condition but for me that enhances the pleasure rather than detracts. The food was outstanding by normal pub standards. Large enough portion of pie and freshly cooked vegetables to not need a starter or a sweet. Freshly cooked on the premises and it showed. The only downside was the landlord who was far too pleasant and welcoming. Made me feel that there must be something wrong but I just couldn't find it!
If you like nouveau quiche or steel and plastic then don't come here.
Lovely warm New Year's Day venue. Food fresh and home made although menu a little limited due to the date. Warm welcome. Good service. Hot fire and cosy lounge. Ideal New Year's day lunch after a refreshing walk at Nyman's
Pokey place with over-priced small portions of sub-restaurant standard food.
No frills pub, open fire , excellent home cooked food. Steak & Stilton pie is truly outstanding
We have three small children, so as a treat (and I wouldn't have to cook), we thought we would go and have a nice pub lunch at a neighboring town's pub. I booked a table through Opentable because of its high ratings and decent reviews. When we entered the pub, there were about 5 people sitting at the bar with one lady behind the bar. We stood awkwardly around for a considerable while before the person behind the bar finally said something. I approached the bar and told them of our reservation (the place was empty save for the people at the bar), and a lady tried to look for the reservation in an old book. I informed her that I had booked through Opentable. For the next 5-10 minutes I can hear her complaining to the people at the bar about how she hated Opentable and how people liked to book then cancel (we booked for 1pm and got there on time, I don't know what provoked the stream of long complaint which our presence clearly prompted was about). No one came to serve us, I finally had to go up to the bar and grab my own menus and told them again that we were there for lunch. By this time all children were hungry and starting to get fidgety.
Our food took forever and it was average at best.
The highlight was when a kind elderly man, I think he was the owner, walked by to tend to the fireplace and said hello/made small talk when he passed through. He was the only person there who made us feel like we weren't invisible. There were lots of other locals who came in and out, were greeted and spoken to, and a few more tables filled up. They all looked like they knew each other. I don't expect it to be like Cheers, but this was the most unfriendly pub experience I have ever had, particularly given that it was during the holidays.
Absolutely horrible and never returning again.
Lovely pub - staff very friendly, great food and lovely atmosphere. Excellent place for dog lovers as well!
A great little counrty pub with a lovely outdoor seating area. Family and dog friendly in a very welcoming local pub located just off the village cricket pitch.
Good range of menu options served in a warm and friendly manner. All food freshly and individually prepared so be prepared for a reasonably laid back experience.
Very popular Sunday evening with several large tables of local people eating.
Very nice and friendly staff but not a great deal of food options. The lamb on the roast dinner was a bit tough. Not a lot of seafood in the risotto. But cosy and comfortable pub.,in a nice setting.
