The King & Lamb @ Stoke Place
It’s King & Lamb restaurant, which is Highly Recommended on the Michelin Guide and The Good Food Guide, has been recently renovated and is a relaxed setting to enjoy Sunday Bottomless Lunch 3 course, Dinner or Afternoon Tea with family and friends, with stunning views overlooking 26 acres of serene ‘Capability Brown’ landscaped parkland and a beautiful lake.

The unique Juniper Gin Bar is perfect for business lunches on a tight schedule, lazy afternoons on the terrace or cocktails in the evening.
We went for Sunday lunch and could not have been more looked after. Mark and his team looked after our party so well and we had the most lovely lunch with delicious food and service that could not be faulted. We cannot thank them enough. We thoroughly recommend
Dear Locallady, Thank you for your glowing review regarding your lunch experiecnce in the King and Lamb. I have shared your kind words for the team to enjoy. We look forward to welcoming you back soon in the near future. Kind Regards Mark
Great value Sunday lunch, good venue.
The staff always friendly and polite.
Well worth a visit. Well done !!!
Dear Mdwc, Thank you for your ovely kind words regarding the King and Lamb's famous Bottomless Lunch. We really value all feedback and the team was delighted you enjoyed yourselves. Kind Regards Mark
We have been guest at the restaurant on several occasions, and I have alwags found the meal, ambience and the staff to be excellent and great value.
One small thing, not related to the above. It would be beneficial to have some form of sunshade for the windows.
Dear Mdwc Thank you for your kind words regarding the King and Lamb. I'm really glad you enjoyed your Sunday Lunch with us. Just to make you aware all our windows have shutters that are able to close for future reference. Looking forward to welcoming you back soon. Kind Regards Mark
Slightly slow service
Very noisy as there was quite a few large parties also dining
Dear AmyW Many thanks for your lovely review. Apologies on the delay in your food, unfortunately the large table you mentioned had just ordered before you and also a couple of other tables. I am really glad you enjoyed the meal and we look forward to welcoming you back in the near future. Kind Regards Mark
Our second visit for the bottomless wine Sunday lunch menu this time with friends. As before food and service were first rate which was particularly pleasing as the restaurant was almost fully booked and there were two private parties being served in other rooms. We’ll definitely be going back soon.
Dear Chris, Thank you for your kind words regarding the service and food in the King and Lamb. I really glad we again surpassed your expectations. I have passed on your kind words to the team to enjoy. Kind Regards Mark
A great venue for Sunday lunch with friends and family. The service is always excellent, warm and friendly.
The food is superb, well presented, hot, and always full of flavour. I cannot comment on the wines with any authority, but they have never been awful.
For the price, it cannot be beaten. Everyone I have taken there has always made positive comments. Please keep it up.
Dear Mdwc, Thank you so much for your kind words regarding our famous "Bottomless Sunday Lunch" I have passed on your comments for all the team to enjoy. Once again many thanks and look forward to welcoming you back again. Kindest Regards Mark
Lovely food and staff and ambience . Long wait between courses
Dear Gavin, Thank you for your lovely review of the King and Lamb Restaurant. I have passed on your feedback to the team to see. Point noted regarding the timings of the courses. Once again thank you for your review. Kindest Regards Mark
Our first time here and it was absolutely amazing! Excellent, attentive service without being over bearing. The Sunday roast was excellent according to my husband, the beef was tender and there was plenty of it. The wine was excellent too. The vegetarian option was boring - gnocchi. With so many amazing vegan and vegetarian possibilities, I felt gnocchi was a bit of a cop out. The starters were fabulous and I think the chef definitely has the skill if not the time, to produce more interesting vegetarian options. Overall excellent, but could have been outstanding if more thought had gone into the vegetarian meal.
Dear Barbie, Thank you for your delightful review of the King and Lamb. I have passed on your comments to the Chef regarding the vegetarian options. Once again thank you for your glowing words. Kindest Regards Mark
This is the second time I have had Sunday lunch here and enjoyed it again very much, however there was a party of 14 at the table behind us and the noise level was very bad. What makes it special apart from the food which is very good are the wonderful staff. So happy and friendly and very efficient. I will definitely be back.
Sadly we were the only 2 there until another couple joined us an hour later. Plenty of people staying at the restaurants hotel but they were also part of a pre wedding dinner so perhaps that was why the ambience was lacking (breakfast next day was buzzing). Food is excellent, staff very accommodating, pleasant and chatty but not overbearing. Very knowledgeable about the food and happy to provide suggestions. It is a lovely restaurant with lovely views. Will revisit when in the area.
What a great sunday lunch, great value with the wine included. The manager and his staff were very accomodating. Well worth a visit.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Lovely decor. The Sunday Lunch was very good and good value as all the wine was included. Will go again when we want to go out for another Sunday Lunch and will recommend to our friends.
Very relaxed Sunday lunch with a group of friends. Food and choices were very good and the service was exceptional. Would go again.
Food was local, fresh, tasty and presented well
Service was one of the best! Mark the restaurant manager was so welcoming, friendly and his knowledge of wine and the food was superb
This is a hidden gem of a restaurant. I forgot how special it was.
I would definitely be going back
We had an absolutely fantastic lunch here for my partners' birthday on Sunday. The perfect Sunday roast with delicious starters, puddings and free-flowing wine. The staff were extremely attentive, friendly and a the setting was ideal. It gets a 10/10 from us but if we could give it an 11, we would!
We had a great evening at the restaurant, the food and service were excellent. There was a lovely ambiance and the views out over the gardens were the icing on the cake!
Having eaten at this restaurant last year and had a very good meal, I was very disappointed with the food on this occasion. The service was excellent, unfortunately the food was poor for the price. The meal cost £123 for 2 people, that was without a lot of drinks. The head waiter said they had changed the chef since our last visit. In my opinion they should get the old chef back. Very disappointing.
June our waitress was extremely attentive and made my special birthday brunch very memorable.
Excellent food and service, the waiter was not in your face but was always there when you needed him, the food was amazing but limited choices overall an experience worthy of the price
Excellent attentive service and delicious afternoon tea. Would love to return, and would definitely recommend
Our first visit to the restaurant, but on the basis of Sunday lunch I wouldn't hesitate to recomend it. The food was superb, and the wine was on tap.
The service was attentive but not intrusive, and the manager took the time to ask diners their thoughts.
An enjoyable Sunday lunch.
Had a delicious Sunday Roast which included the bottomless wine. Fine dining but at high street prices and we felt the quality of food was exceptional. Each plate looks so inviting with many tasty elements. Two courses only £22 and three courses is £28. We, of course, went for the 3 courses.
The service was second to none. The wine glasses were topped up without having to ask.
Warm bread rolls to start (not charged for) followed by goats cheese, roast beef and cheesecake to finish. Delicious. A quick walk around the lake to burn off the calories finished a wonderful afternoon out with family.
Really nice loos too, very important!
We visited The King and Lamb whilst staying at Stoke Place for our anniversary. From the minute we arrived the experience was brilliant. Faultless service, great cocktails, perfectly presented food and a fantastic wine recommendation. Would definitely recommend visiting if you are in the area. Thank you Mark for your brilliant hospitality.
Awful. Substandard food. Dated and dirty decor. Clumsy service. Windows don't open in the sweltering heat and no air conditioning. Extremely expensive for poor quality afternoon tea: stale sandwiches with hardly any filling and badly made cakes
This is a lovely restaurant with excellent meals. The chefs know how to present and use good quality food. The restaurant staff are delightful with a warm friendliness but professional manner. I would however like reception to really take notice of the people walking through the front door and really greet them and make them feel welcome. I realise nowadays everything is Internet and I understand that bookings etc are vital but for that brief moment when guests enter Stoke Place either to dine or stay, should be met with a Good Afternoon madam, sir welcome to Stoke Place, how may we help you. The brief exchange makes guests feel that this is a good place to visit.
I highly recommend the restaurant, the chefs are faultless and obviously enjoy what they do, keep up the good work and hope we hope to dine again soon.
Seasons at Stoke Place is an excellent restaurant..The chefs are clearly dedicated to providing guests with food that is prepared with thought and attention. The presentation and taste of their Sunday lunch is without doubt superb. The menu is very good and the portion size is definitely very generous. The food is literally melt in the mouth. The newly refurbished restaurant is very relaxing and tastefully decorated. The restaurant staff are just lovely, friendly, helpful and courteous without being too over baring.
My one criticism is the very minimal welcome as you enter this lovely hotel set in beautiful grounds. The reception staff barely look up from their computers. A quick Good day Sir/madam how can we be of help would be extremely welcomed. If we did not know which way to walk to the restaurant having been several times for Sunday Lunch we would have had to wait for someone to look up and acknowledge us. Having said that it certainly would not put me off going as the food is too good and the restaurant staff make up for the lack of sincerity at reception. To add another positive note the Afternoon Tea looks to die for so that will be worth another visit.
Occasionally have Sunday lunch here and it is always delicious.
Presentation, taste and value get top marks. The Very popular for afternoon
Tea and I am not surprised as it looks amazing and plentiful. Recently refurbished
Seasons restaurant which looks very lovely. Front desk could be a little more welcoming
But the restaurant staff are great. Highly recommend.
Awful. Used to be fine dinning but is now just like a bad pubs food. Sent both mains back - shame as used to be a amazing restaurant.
Exceptional food with excellent service - a hidden gem
Not too happy, arrived at 3pm to dine, only to be told food had stopped being served at 2pm.....
The food was well presented and enjoyable. Ambience was lacking as only two tables were occupied, with most of the hotel guests eating in the bar, some way from the restaurant.
Service at the restaurant was attentive but for a hotel, staff were noticeably lacking, particularly at the reception area where there was no one to greet us or show the way to the bar/restaurant.
