The King & Queen
I had the best day ever, it was my first time visiting and I will 100% be back . I travelled over 1hr 30mins to get to the king & queen.
And it was worth it
The staff were outstanding and the food and service was excellent .
The pub was clean and they were following all the government guidelines due to Covid.
The staff were very attentive and they met our needs as we were to hot to sit outside and eat our food so we went inside to a lovely cool seating area inside the pub that had just been newly decorated and had the most gorgeous chandeliers which made the pub stand out from any that I have been before.
I can’t wait to go back and try more food from the menu and have another amazing gin & tonic.
Thankyou to everyone at the king and queen
The staff were helpful and friendly.
The food was very good.
Very enjoyable meal.
Nice environment, good choice of food . Garden has both shade and sunny areas
The professional manner in which this lovely old pub is run adds to the great experience.
The staff, in particular the manager, can’t do enough for you …attentive, polite & friendly.
Good well kept ales and a tasty menu will draw us back again.
Ploughman’s that was accompanied with mini scotch egg and pork pie appeared to be what you get in packs
I ordered smoke salmon bagel and got baked salmon
Sent back waitress was very good but I’m afraid the chef should not of sent that out without waitress knowing Big difference between smoked and baked. Was dealt with efficiently but chef is where the buck stops.Couldn’t fault waitress and was not charged for my meal.More cross that chef would think we wouldn’t know the difference
Enjoyed our meal at the King and Queen although on the expensive side (but we knew that before we went).
I had the Ploughman’s, all very nice, the only criticism is the ‘scotch egg’ turned out to be 2 mini ‘scrambled egg’ scotch eggs - very disappointing! I was expecting a lovely homemade version!
My daughter had the rack of ribs and there were no complaints there.
We did have to wait for over an hour from being seated to our meal arriving so if you’re on a time limit, beware! Not sure if this is the norm as it was our first visit.
Overall a pleasant lunch but not sure I would repeat it any time soon.
Highly recommend, will be going back again to try the sea food platter
Service at the table was very attentive and we were constantly asked if we’d like another drink. Food when it arrived was very good but unfortunately the wait for it was just too long.
I would recommend if delays in service were improved.
The pub is lovely and the service impeccable, however I ordered a chicken Cesar salad, it looked fine, though no Parmesan, the chicken was ghastly, hard, tasteless and a disgrace to serve, I left most of it.
I hope the pub corrects this as aside from that, it’s a lovely place
Lovely evening meal celebrating leaving school . Thoroughly enjoyed evening , great food , atmosphere and weather made it perfect . 💯 Recommend
We’ve been here many times before. The food is always great and the staff are always friendly and attentive.
Looking forward to visiting again!
After a lock downcustomrrs and staff alike were pleased to be seeing normality. Friendly staff and in general very good. Will visit again.
Good food with choices to cover most tastes. A very welcoming and helpful staff. There have been some updates to the decor and facilities since my last visit.
Nice food, friendly staff, good menu selection, slightly disappointing that there was no wine menu, reasonable cost.
Steak and kidney pie with mash was fantastic. The vegetables, however, were inedible. Not sure how they were cooked, if at all. They were hard and shrivelled. I eat anything but only managed a small piece of aldente cabbage. Carrots and parsnip were not edible in my opinion.
It did not stop my enjoyment of the lovely meaty homemade pie, of which there are various choices. The mash was creamy and gravy good too. My friend had sandwich. Cheese and tomato, with side salad. The bread was cut thick but she enjoyed it . We go every few months. The staff are friendly and helpful and it suits us.
But please do sonething about the vegetables!
Service was good however the food really was not up to standard. Drinks overpriced made an expensive night what you would expect to pay in a high class restaurant which sadly it no longer is.
Menu is that if a green king but 5 star prices. Sad to say we will not be returning
Great food, friendly staff, nice atmosphere, only let down by the length of time the food took to come out (1+hr) however it was pretty busy and the staff were very attentive making it not seem so long!
Really excellent sea food platter. Service was great. Drinks a bit expensive but considering the impact to pubs and restaurants over the pandemic that's ok for now. Lovely light meal and drinks
Efficient staff always on hand with quick service.
Out to dinner for only second time since restrictions started to lift and first time taking our dog with us. The staff could not have done more to make sure he was settled and looked after, water, biscuits and lots of fussing which meant we were able to enjoy our dinner. The food was good although veg a little undercooked but would definitely return 😀
Delicious food and friendly staff - it's great to be back!
Lovely friendly staff, the girls do an excellent job. Food menu simple but delicious. Always making sure your glass isn't empty for long. Highly recommend this pub for drinks or food! Also has a beautiful garden which is perfect in the sunshine.
Even though it was raining and outside the good was great and so much better than when it first reopened for outdoor dining x
A lovely lunch of pie vegetables and chips followed by a nice slice of cheesecake! Lovely quiet garden, attentive staff and good value for money.
Visited for Sunday lunch, nice setting in the garden and service was attentive but unfortunately the food and prices were quite poor.
One roast lamb and one roast beef dinner, :- meats both nice but that’s where it ended. Youkrshires over done to the point of dust when cutting, potatoes under cooked even though cut very small, roasted parsnips severely under cooked and roasted is questionable. Carrots and cabbage (carrots and cabbage cheap and cheerful on any dinner) but still not great and thin and tasteless gravy!
Upshot is nice setting but your roasts at home are far superior.
Also be wine aware! A- 250ml glass of pino Grigio will set you back £9.20 !!! Yes just one!!!
Ask for the drinks list before ordering to avoid a bitter after taste when the bill arrives.
Fish and chips tasted like the fish had gone off. Korean burger had no seasoning tasted very dry.
It was my first visit to the pub, and it was a great visit, given the current Covid restrictions. I'm sure things would have been even better, had we not been stuck outdoors. Lovely staff, good service and excellent food. We'll definitely be back!
A brilliant time out for the 3 of us lovely food and service..
Great setup in the garden, brilliant service and lovely food, would definitely recommend
Brilliant time. Really friendly staff. Great to see them open again.
First visit-Heaters in the garden!! Staff helpful and friendly, food hot, good value and very god. A really good evening and will return. Thank you
Great friendly efficient staff welcoming and very well organised
Amazing chilled environment. Wayne and team looked after us very well in a cute little garden which was very relaxing. Will definitely be back with the kids next time.
Fantastic service. Food was not great and very simple. Obvious signs of trying to keep their costs down.
Lovely pub and graded! Great menu and food was delicious! Staff very friendly and helpful!
Still no heaters outside so wrap up warm. You would of thought if they wanted customers then make it comfortable
Very lovely place with great and helpful staff. Very nice food, good portions.
Six of us had drinks and food.
Service was good
Food was nice
COVID safety elements in place
Lovely pub. manager was nice
Liked the bonfire outside
Very good service from waiting staff in the garden although freezing cold weather
