Great refurbished good food and lovely staff! Faultless
A great old English large Pub/Restaurant With good staff.
Great atmosphere good food excellent Sunday roasts
Nice large dining garden (Weather permitting) but plenty of room inside if not
Very popular so book on weekends
Really great taste!!
Saturday lunch with a friend. Restaurant was rather cold in temperature when we first arrived but improved as the place filled. Service was rapid and friendly. Food was decent pub fayre but not exceptional. Brownie for dessert tasted powdery and oversweet so did not finish. Would visit again.
Great food and service
Great food as always. Very noisy but to be expected at this time of year as lots of groups. Disappointing veg ( storage selection and different to normal) with our roast but maybe getting low towards the end of the day on a Sunday.
Just feel that it was not as good as usual and the Gents lavatory was not very pleasant.
Found menu excellent together with great customer service.
Very good food which is the most important thing. Service was efficient; the waiter steered us away front he house wine. I'm hoping it was an informed position and not trying to upsell, so I will give him the benefit of the doubt.
We went there for a weekday evening meal and it was mainly populated by an older clientele who seemed comfortable and were probably regulars which says a lot. Give it a go.
Much enjoyed but so similar to all pibs of this genre. Food was good but not special. We had the Camembert starter that was so over priced that it ruined the value
Excellent sevice, delicious food.
Food wasn’t too bad - the crumble was only warm, and the portion sizes were fine but couldn’t be any smaller.
To few staff for such a busy place
Usually have a very good experience in The Kingfisher, but even though I booked through open table, we had a table in the bar instead of the restaurant
I would not have taken the table if I had known that, as the bar area has very few tables that are suitable for eating a meal from, and yes we were shown to a couch with one high chair and a low table....seeing as you are paying the same as everyone else on Mother's Day ,it is not acceptable
We ordered the three course menu and service was good, food also ok, but before we ordered our dessert about 10 people were standing,
around , the table next to us, which was for three people, so basically these people were standing over us and all very noisy, as they were drinking but not eating...so we decided to leave as we were not enjoying the ambience. Hence our meal was not value for money.
We will avoid the kingfisher at busy times from now on.
We arrived at the kingfisher for Sunday lunch with 2 clients . We had booked through open table and had received a confirmation email the day before . On arrival it was packed with people waiting and no booking for us on their system. The staff member called a manager and despite it being so busy on seeing our email and me explaining we had clients with us he promised to find us a table as soon as possible . We weren’t the only ones that day to have booked through open table and the booking not reaching them . He was very calm and reassuring and asked us to get our drinks and he would seat us soon . As it happened one of our clients saw a table in the bar area by the fire become free and grabbed it and we decided we liked it there and would forgo the restaurant service and order from the bar . I let the manager know and he could then use the next table for one of the other parties that had arrived and the booking had not come through . The manager was great and came over and offered us a generous discount for being so reasonable. The food was excellent and we had a successful afternoon, so much so our clients wanted to come back for lunch the next day . Well done Kingfisher . Not impressed with open table and will now double check all our future bookings as it could have been a disaster.
The restaurant had run out of 2 out of 3 different steak options. If I was running a restaurant I would consider this a disaster especially on a Friday evening!
We were also informed that there had also been problem with their water supply earlier in the day. After using the loo and applying soap to wash my hands I found out there there was no water. I informed our waitress who was completely unperturbed and said that there was gel provided. Not a lot of use to me as I has a handful of soap!
All in all the restaurant seemed chaotic and there was no obvious managerial input to smooth these problems.
My three friends seemed to enjoy their meals. My fish and chips was okay but I wouldn’t order it again as it was too greasy.
I’ve eaten in this restaurant many times and this wasn’t a brilliant visit. Such a shame.
Great service and good food reasonably priced. Decor looks newly refurbished. When we were first seated the music was too loud for polite conversation, we mentioned it to the staff and within moments they had turned it down - very attentive. Will go back.
We came with friends on Saturday lunchtime ,and were greeted at the door, we sat down to a baked camonbere to start followed by our main courses, with a bottle of New Zealand savignion blanc, then our sweet course. The food was fabulous ,the service could not have been better.
It's a nice spot, lovely location and atmosphere. Food was OK, nothing special but definitely decent. Staff were all very nice!
The Kingfisher is a very pleasant venue, with good food and a good choice of drinks. My only complaint is with Opentable, as the Kingfisher had no record of our booking through Opentable. However The Kingfisher were still able to accommodate us.
We have been to the kingfisher loads of times but this time was disappointing it took ages for our food to arrive and when it did we weren't that impressed they've changed a few of the original things we have like potted crab is now with lobster and prawn and the bread was minute and now nice the salad I had was dry and the advacado was mushy not nice the lemon pudding we all love has been changed as is more like an American cheesecake no taste of lemon very upset as we loved the lemon pudding, will we come here again not sure!
The only slightly negative thing ( and it was not their fault) was they had no record of our reservation on OpenTable. However, they were able to accommodate us.
Service was shocking we asked 3 times where our drinks were when we first ordered. We were offered tea and coffee or desert after the meal, this also never showed up so we said can we cancel it and just have the bill to which the manager said " are you sure, it's only been 10 minutes " . The girl waitress was lovely but unfortunately we were all disappointed at that point and it was rude to be told we had only waited 10 minutes when coffee doesn't even take 3 minutes to make.
The Kingfisher is rated 4.2 stars by 22 OpenTable diners.
